Trying to support local and independent businesses, this inn had good reviews, advertised as clean, attention to detail, etc. But was extremely disappointing and disturbing! Having made reservation the week before, manager took id and credit card, went to lobby which we were not welcome due to covid; even though we were wearing masks, he was not. While waiting, I noticed poisons left out, uncovered storage/junk area, dead plants, bins filled with cigarette butts... Got into room about 3:30 and not good. Lifted covers to check bed to see if it was clean and saw the box spring cover stains. How disgusting and wondering if it had ever been washed and how could anyone find this ok? I checked the rate on my phone and the 189 that we were charged had dropped down to 119. Not worth 119 for that room, collosal ripoff at 189. In addition to the disturbing and uncomfortable bed, The bathroom vent fan didn't work, hot/cold was switched, wrong seat size for toilet, rusty TP fixture, ripped towel, lamp that hadn't been dusted in forever, old chipped/scratched furniture, etc.…
I was really late making reservations for my trip so had very limited and very expensive choices. All I ask from a budget motel is cleanliness. The room smelled of disinfectant, so I thought that was a good sign, but it turned to disappointment. The room had been straightened, I am fairly sure the sheets were fresh, but things like walls, base boards, floor tiles, carpet and grout weren't just worn, they were dirty. The used coffee pod from previous guest had not been removed from coffee maker.
We were told about the Texan when we asked about accommodation for a family of 5. The Texan is an apartment above the Sunset Grill (which has amazing breakfast!!) and was perfect for us. It has sleeping for 5 with 2 bedrooms, a full bath, living room and kitchen. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again!
Needed a last minute hotel reservation for Labor Day weekend, so stayed at Sunset Inn. Due to Covid, check in was taken care of outside office. Because of holiday weekend, fortunately I had reservation, as inn was full. Maid service was also affected by Covid-no maid to enter room. Dirty linen to be left outside of room and would be replaced. Bed was ok, wi Fi did not work. Towels are thin, so bring your own. Price was okay, rooms are dated. Inn next to popular breakfast restaurant and convenient to Main Street for shopping, wine tasting, and dining.
Great location off the main path, and the management team is hard-working, engaged, and very nice. I would stay there again without a doubt! Located right next door to one of the best breakfast/lunch restaurants in town, the Sunset Grill.
