The resort itself is huge and inviting! We stayed in the Riverwalk section and I’m so glad we got the atrium! The Glass Cactus is a blast and the ride over is fun too! However, there seems to be some inconsistency with their pool rules. We called the front desk our first day and was told we could take a cooler with our own drinks. None of the waitresses told us anything at the pool. However, the next day we went to the pool with our cooler and was told we couldn’t have it there. So, that was irritating that their service wasn’t consistent. We also ran into a rude bar tender at the bar closer to the coffee shop in the entrance of the hotel. We asked for a specific shot and he made a really rude comment. It was actually very offensive and made me definitely want to take my service elsewhere. Overall, it was a decent experience but I wouldn’t go back due to the service we received. Even after our hotel bill was insane for 2 nights. I expected better customer service.

I stayed here twice a year when visiting TX to see granddaughters. We stayed for two days July 16-17 for fun at the pool, as they always have such fun during the summer and at Christmas. Booked nights using Marriott points. This stay was one of the best ever. We were there during Christmas but because of covid restrictions it was just not as fun as normal. No fault of hotel. I was concerned this trip that the resort wouldn’t be fully staffed as it seems many places are struggling to find people to work. Man was I wrong. They had plenty of staff at pool, bar and restaurants. One of the bartenders told us they were at 100% capacity. Check in lines were long when we arrived but since I have Gold Elite with Marriott we get a separate line. It’s pays to have a Marriot credit card to get elite status. Love this resort!

We have met extended family at the Gaylord at least 8-10xs over the years. Sometimes at Christmas & always during the summer for the cousins to play at the water park. We have always had a great time & the resort/amenities have always been top notch until this recent visit. We have been in the new wing in recent years, but this time we were back in the older main building (non-atrium view). We needed multiple rooms so took what we could get for a busy weekend. I believe the biggest issue for us was the crowds. I get it…lots of families on staycations due to continued travel restrictions, but there were also large conferences attending too. The lines in the morning for the only two places to get coffee were crazy. You would have to stand in line for at least 20-30mins just for a cup of coffee & to-go breakfast. If they have a fully booked resort & huge conferences with hundreds wanting coffee in the morning why would they not plan accordingly? The conference facilities should have had their own coffee areas for the attendees to help with the congestion in the mornings. During the late afternoon/evenings when conferences let out, again, long lines and congestion in the cafe. The water park was surprisingly not overly crowded the days we were there. Also, our room was only cleaned when we called down to ask for clean sheets after our little one had an accident. The highlight for us was dinner at the steak restaurant. It’s pricey, but service was good & food is amazing. We still enjoyed our time at the Gaylord, but wish they would consider ways to help with overcrowding areas within the resort when they are fully booked & also have large conference attendees. Especially in the mornings. A simple solution would be to add additional areas for guests to purchase coffee/breakfast or open up the restaurants in the mornings.

I booked a short weekend stay and was eager to see how it turned out since some reviews said the service was lacking. Check in was an experience as lines were very long but they did have 8 clerks working pretty quickly. I opted for a room away from the atrium which was a bit of a walk but nice and quiet so that was nice. There are plenty of on site places to eat which is convenient but also plenty of places to eat offsite if you don’t mind getting car from parking garage. A short trolley ride takes you to the water park which was a pleasant surprise! It was larger than I expected and satisfied all age groups. Overall, if you plan right, have realistic expectations- I think your family will enjoy the scenery of the atrium, the water park and decent food. Tips: since the check in lines are so long, have the hubby and kids walk around atrium so the lines seem less chaotic. Pack your own water and snacks to keep in room in between activities. Pack your patience and don’t forget to be nice and tip your servers, valet etc. This place isn’t cheap but makes an affordable staycation!

We had a large group stay here for a family reunion, and we really enjoyed our stay. The resort offers plenty to do, and we took advantage of entertainment such as the Escape Room and the kids painting activity. The Cirque show was also great. The star of the resort was the very impressive waterpark/pool area. I couldn't believe how huge it was. There is even a separate large section for small kids. The lazy river is fun, as well as the slides. The rooms were solid and comfortable. No issues there. We went off-site for all meals, but I did enjoy drinking at the sports bar. They have a really impressive variety of TVs to watch games. Service was really good everywhere. Overall, we really enjoyed our vacation there.
