This hotel was great. Super clean, loved the mini-Starbucks, and most important - everyone we came in contact with was wonderful - friendly and helpful. We would stay here again without hesitation. Wish every place we stay had staff as welcoming and wonderful as them.

Room was larger than expected and very clean. Lots of space to work or relax and watch the large screen tv. I had an accessible room with a walk-in shower that was stocked with hair product and shower gel. Large fluffy towels and a comfy bed topped off the experience.

This hotel provided me with everything I could have asked for and more in my time of need. Houston (and all of Texas) had unseasonably low temperatures in mid-February, and like most Texans, I was left without electricity or water in my home. I was lucky enough to be able to stay at the Hyatt Place in Downtown Houston, where they had everything I needed to keep myself and my loved ones safe and warm. Unlike many of the other hotels throughout Houston, the Hyatt Place Downtown never lost power or water, and was able to keep a consistent amount of food and beverages available for guests. Additionally, the staff made it their priority to meet all of the guests' needs, including my own. I would like to give a special shout-out to Cody, Aerial, Carlos and Chelsea, who worked (from what I could tell) around the clock to ensure guests had what they needed (and with a smile at that!). I also spoke briefly with Miranda, who has a great personality and brought a smile to my face in a time that most would consider to be a major hardship.
I strongly encourage you to visit this hotel. If not for its immaculate decor and superb accommodations, for its amazing staff and their clear desire to provide guests with the best possible experience.

Usually when we check into a Hyatt, a smiling desk clerk hands us two bottles of water because of our membership status. It's minor, but a nice gesture. Coming back after dinner to the Hyatt Place Houston/Downtown, we stopped at the desk to ask for the two bottles of water. The desk clerk looked at the room number and said we did not have the required Discoverist or higher membership status. I told her that was funny because all the other Hyatts we stayed at give us the water. She told me those other Hyatts were wrong. So, like, I'm really feeling like this is going weird . . .

I looked at my emails and found one congratulating me that my Discoverist status was being extended into 2024. I thought, great, I'm not imagining things! I asked to speak to a manager and pointed out the Discoverist email to him. He was annoyed and instead of just apologizing and giving me the two waters he looked up the room record. I had made the reservation not in my name but in my wife's name. He told me it was my fault because I made the reservation in the wrong name. Wow! A scolding over just asking for two bottles of water, wholesale value maybe 20 cents each? He actually said "It's your fault."

I wish Hyatt had never gotten into the water thing if this is what happens. I wish I hadn’t asked.

As reflected in the other reviews, this Hyatt location already has problems with parking and the homeless camping on the surrounding sidewalks. You would think the front desk would be nice to try to make up for these other problems. But no.

I stayed at this hotel this weekend and someone charged some food to my room, so I brought it to the front desk employees' attention; they assured me that they would take care of this issue and my card would not be charged for that. Unfortunately, that was not the case because I just retrieved my hotel bill online and checked my credit card activity as well, and guess what? they did charge me for it after all. It is disappointing to realize that some employees at this hotel are dishonest and liars. AVOID this hotel if possible. However, If you decide to stay in this hotel, make sure you request a hard copy of your hotel bill when you check-out, otherwise you may receive an unpleasant surprise when you get your bill via email and may be too late to do something about it when you are back home

I stayed for 6 days at this property, I'm a Hyatt member but that made no special treatment for me, so I got a room with a very disappointing view of the air conditioning machine so I called the front desk asking for an upgrade to a room with a better view, the clerk who's have just make the chk in told me he had a room on the 13th floor with a very nice view for 20 dlls, finding it a very small difference I asked him if it was per night and he say, no sir it is for the whole stay, once again I asked him if he was sure and his answer was, yes it will be a one time fee...
At he chk out I found that the charge was made per night and when I complained a lady who said to be the manager told me she was sorry, that some of the employees were still on training and that she will be able to adjust two of the 5 nights that were charged because the whole amount was too much to adjust.
I told her I did not agree with that, that the person specifically say it was a one time fee and that if he wasn't well trained I shouldn't be the one paying for that mistake.
She again say she was sorry but she couldn't do it and asked if I want the adjustment for the two nights or not to which I answered no, if your are going to honor what was said do it if not just leave it and that I will complain to the Hyatt 800 number and asked her to give me that number, she gave me her bussines card without the number so I asked her what was the card for and she say, you asked me for a business card...I say , no, I asked you for the 800 number, that's the problem, you don't listen to costumers.
This last comment make her furious, she yelled at me that she was done talking to me and that I can get the number myself online and left.
I don't know if this is customer service for you but sure is not what I expect specially on a brand I use so regularly.
It was the first time in my life I've been treated this way and of course I was fully charged for all the nights.
Is not a matter about a hundred dollar difference, it the lack of trust on what the employees say and really do charge and the poor response of a manager to her personel mistakes.

Arrived late afternoon the hotel was spotless, the check-in process was simple and efficient. The breakfast was included, however under COVID everything was pre-wrapped which is a good thing if you aren't looking for a hot meal. However the room was very large with a full seating area, spotless throughout as well! Beds were comfortable, large bathroom, again spotless. Water temperature could have been a little better, it was pretty warm but never really got very hot, but other than that it was a good experience.

During the winter storms here in Houston this hotel managed to keep us fed, warm, and showering when so many others couldn’t. With only 5 or 6 staff members they took cate of hundreds of people with smiles on their faces and a great attitude. Couldn’t have been more impressed and can’t wait to return!

Amazing service and so clean! Best hotel gym I've ever seen. So many pieces of equipment for a great workout, very spacious and has water, wipes to clean equipment, towels, and extra earbuds if you forgot your own.
Free breakfast with a variety of foods, I personally didn't care for the eggs, they were a bit iffy for me, but everything else was great.
We went to the bar/restaurant on the top floor one night and I felt that the prices were very reasonable! The drink was amazing and the bartender was very kind.
The valet drivers were also great! We only took our car out a couple of times during our stay, but it was less than a 10 min wait and they were very courteous.
Luis at the front desk was very helpful when I saw that I was mischarged. He took care of it right away!
The only issues we noticed, were that some of the pieces in the rooms weren't installed correctly. One of the towel hooks fell down with barely any weight on it. Also, the water pressure wasn't ideal, I have thick hair and it took forever to wash the shampoo and conditioner out. It also took a very long time for the water to get hot, and we were only on the 7th floor out of 16. But, that wouldn't be enough to discourage us from staying there again. Right in the heart of downtown and easy to get to places! About 20-30 mins to either IAH or Hobby, with little to no traffic.
Highly recommend!!

I stayed at the Hyatt Place for a long weekend when I was visiting from Denver. The hotel is noticeably gorgeous, hip, and so comfortable. It was a wonderful place to stay. More importantly, however, I couldn't help but notice how great the staff was. During my visit, Houston and the majority of Texas experienced terrible weather and power outages. I was able to witness firsthand this hotel's remarkable team come together to provide guests with not only a safe and warm place to stay, but also empathy and support during the storm. I am aware of this hotel being brand new, so with this and with it being COVID times, the staff had not yet had more than a handful of guests staying there at a time. When the storm hit Houston, the Hyatt became absolutely swamped with people from both the city and vacationers who had their flights cancelled. I was extremely impressed at how well the staff handled the influx of guests and the overall chaos that the storm ensued! Typically, I would expect staff to be noticeably overwhelmed and stressed out in a situation such as this, but that was not the case at all for the front desk team at the Hyatt Place, who handled everything with ease and grace. The general manager, Cody, was incredibly patient, kind, and helpful towards all guests (and their pets!!) that came in. He did a great job with juggling many duties at once to ensure guests had a smooth check-in/check-out process and had all of their needs met. Additionally, he went above and beyond with showing both the guests and his staff empathy for what they were experiencing from the terrible weather. I sat in the lobby and watched him and his other coworkers (2 names I recall are Aerial and Carlos) work tirelessly to provide guests with food, water/drinks, clean rooms, and anything else that they requested. It was some of the best hospitality I have ever seen/experienced! I really loved this hotel, and I can't wait to visit again once the adorable bar on the 16th floor is open!
