Lovely old fashioned hotel with a sort of Hollywood thirties vibe. However, it has a number of shortcomings: glacial elevators, water that takes ages to warm up, $7 for a small Pringles (!), but worst of all is the $59 per night for valet parking (plus tax), to which I can add a 15 min wait for my car. This hotel is overpriced.

For a special occasion weekend, we returned to the fabulous and wonderfully imaginative Hotel ZaZa Museum District ( enjoyed three wonderful museums, in Houston’s loveliest part of town, with other museums to see in the future). Decades ago we had our own wedding reception at the previous version of this landmark hotel. We had a special room on the Magnificent Seven 12th floor. Our room was titled and themed For Yours Eyes Only and indulged in the A Night To Remember package replete with champagne, food amenities, and a late check out our final day Sunday. It was worth every penny. Everything was fantastic and the service was perfect and the view across the parks to the university and the dynamic Texas Medical Center were truly spectacular. This is a return stay for us and we consider this one of our favorite hotels in America, or anywhere.

The front desk check in folks are cold as ice. We had come off of a 2 week trip to Japan and landed for 5 nights at the ZAZA. Checking in there was nary a smile or a welcome comment. It was all business as usual. The guys who helped with the luggage were the warm bright spot, greeting us with a smile and helpful hands. A few days later we needed to extend our stay, and once again, the reception and check in team were extremely cold and acted as if we hadn't already been there 3 days when we needed to extend by two nights. I carried two passports to recheck into the room and my husband wandered off; they insisted they had to "see" him. I felt like I was under interrogation. All that would have been fine with a dash of the famous southern charm, but the folks behind the desk seem like technocrats and don't belong in the hospitality business. One other comment. This is a nice hotel but the snack selection in the room was all processed salt and sugar. We were there for a medical school reunion; Houston is famous for the Texas Medical Center and two stellar medical schools. One would think that the hotel would be more in tune with community health and at least offer a few healthy choices in their mini-bar selection. No nuts or dried fruit; no granola bars. The list of additives on each of the minibar offerings was enough to merit the ashcan; that stuff shouldn't even be consumed. Obesity is chronic in the US, and Texas is no exception. I reported my comments to the front desk; fell on deaf ears. Again, not even a considerate "I'm sorry you feel that way". Thankfully bed is comfortable as are the pillows. Bathroom a little tired. Would expect more from a $300.00 room before taxes!

Excellent stay. Clean, well-appointed hotel. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Love all the little perks like candy at the front desk and afternoon cookies. They have a free shuttle service for a 3 mile radius - that was awesome. Their turn down service is a classy touch - you get a bottle of water, a moon pie and a lit tea candle. Just nice. The place is very clean too. Just a great stay.

Let me start with the good points - the staff is friendly - the rooms are spacious - there is a nice swimming pool (not used, too cold) - the cookies available in the afternoon are delicious Now the bad points - the staff welcomes you by giving you their speech at maximum speed. They certainly know it too well, but I don't. Guys, I have been awake for 20 hours. My brain is tired; slow down - I thought there was a breakfast, or at least something akin a buffet with plenty of choice. There is only a restaurant. Food was average. - I hurt myself badly on my way to Houston. My back was killing me and a nice hot shower at the end of the day would have been pretty helpful. Well, you have to be super lucky to get hot water in this hotel. Day 1: ok, Day 2; nothing in the afternoon, Day 3: nothing in the afternoon, Day 4: forget about washing your hair and getting a hot shower in the morning, the water is way too cold for this. - given the absence of anything to do tea/coffee in the bedroom (really????), the tea/coffee station available until 10am should be available until 10pm. - on my way out, nobody bothered to ask me how my stay was (usually, staff have the decency to ask, but no). Well, it was not great (as you can imagine, not being able to wash myself in the morning did not improve my mood)

I've been coming to Zaza Museum District location for years and still absolutely love it! The hotel is very unique and the staff are always pleasant. I especially love the rides in the vans with the horns on front to locations nearby the hotel!

Upgraded us to a suite because it was my husband’s bday. Prosecco in the room! Comfortable bed, great pillows. Shuttle took Us to and from our dinner reservations. Walking distance to all the local museums. Lovely stay. We will definitely be back!

Great location for Zoo, and Science and Art Museums and Medical Centre. Loved everything about our stay from check in to check out. Stayed in standard room which was definitely better than most chain hotel standard rooms. Restaurent was very good, so we ate most of our meals in house, which was good because there are few restaurants in the surrounding neighbourhood. All personal were efficient, helpful and courteous. The hotel felt very warm and cozy and we would definitely recommend staying there.

The service is always over the top. Afternoon cookies are delicious and warm! Sergio, the hotel shuttle driver, is great. Rooms are fun and the restaurant is wonderful. It’s a fun experience to stay there and I personally love the rooms with balconies.

We visited Houston for a wedding. The Zaza hotel was close to the venue and a lot of interesting hotels. The shuttle connected us to a number of sights within the 3 mile radius. The rooms were nice and well maintained. Lots of good restaurants and take out nearby.
