As mentioned in other reviews this is a very old building. The amenities are not modern as such. In particular the heating and cooling is unusual with a combination of room units and central system. We stayed in the large 2-bed room 21. We joined another couple who had received the stay as a gift and invited to join them....

Loved it so much. So what the stairs are creaky and some say it needs more TLC? This is a 100+ year old historical building and it can not and should not be "tweaked". If you need more cush for your tush, go stay in a $$$$ hotel. This is a great family oriented retreat in a quaint part of...

Great place! Lots of history! Compared to a lot of the b&b's locally, the price is right. Very accommodating staff. We stayed in both the jacuzzi suite and the fireplace suite. One night each for a little variety. Staff had no problem with it. Hotel staff leaves at night so you are by yourself with the other guests. There are...

My family reserved several rooms recently. After the reservations were made, we began to wonder if any of them were downstairs. We had a family member that could not climb stairs. We had heard there was no elevator. Several of the family members called the listed phone number at different times of the day on different days. We left messages....

My wife and I have stayed here several times. We arrived on July 4th in the afternoon. The desk clerk was very friendly. The room we usually stay in was already taken so we stayed in another room. The room need a upgrade, The room looked to be clean but under the furnishings were trash, old candy, and under the...

We booked this hotel August 31st 2014. It smells pretty old but what do you expect? It is 140 years old or more. We came here for a ghost experience though so we didn't care. Check in was real easy. After a certain time there is no staff there and you have to use a key code to get in...

If you arrive after 5, yes 5, you have to call someone to get a room. I know it is old but seriously every squeaks. Expect people to be investigating in hallways even late. Our room 5, had no blinds and a huge street light outside window. Air condition is barely functional and the room is hot. The ghost might...

We stayed at the Jefferson Hotel last October and the upkeep seemed better back then. This 2 night visit our room had no soap & it was after staff hours when we realized it, so we ended up going and buying some. Many of the hallway light fixtures had bulbs burned out. In our room one 3-light sconce fixture had...

This was my second visit to Jefferson, but my first time with my daughters. We couldn't stay at a BB and didn't want to stay in a highway hotel. The room was nice, quiet, and cool. The hotel has an ambiance that you won't get at a chain hotel. The beds were comfortable, too. The owner was friendly and nice....

Nice enough hotel but no hand soap provided and no staff after 4pm Sunday to ask for some. Bed linens were thin and torn. Needs some attention but okay place Very strange that staff goes home and leaves you with a code to re-enter at your leisure. Very nice area , hotel just needs some loving upkeep

At a time when steamboats plied the Big Cypress River from New Orleans and true Southern gentility was the order of the day a stately structure, now known as the Jefferson Hotel, was built. Once used as a warehouse to store cotton, this lovely building changed hands numerous times. At the turn of the twentieth century it was transformed into a hotel and has served as a haven for weary travelers since that time. ... more   less
