I decided to stay in Marathon overnight before going into Big Bend the next day. I had driven from Kerrville, Texas, a distance of over 300 miles and was ready for a rest. This motel also has an RV park, with showers that were right behind my motel unit, but the motel was very quiet, off the main road, clean,...

Great place to stay in Marathon. We stayed 2 nights and visited Big Bend NP on one of the days. The first night we were there, the sky was so full of stars, with no distracting city lights. I was able to get great pictures with my camera of the milky way, Orion and Sirius, plus other constellations! It is...

After exploring Big Bend NP we stayed for one night in the Marathon Motel. The cabin was rather small but clean an the beds were comfortable. The Motel provides complimentary earplugs, the train line is across the street and every engineer has to blow the horn when the train approaches the crossing. With the earplugs it was not that bad...

Stayed in the RV park March 7th and was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful greeting we received. I have traveled 22 years full-time in an RV and seldom does the person behind the desk seem happy with the jjob they are doing. This is a great place for travelers coming out of Big Bend. The staff was hard at work...

We stayed here for 3 nights 3/1/17 - 3/3/17 in an RV site because the campgrounds in Big Bend only reserve so many sites and the rest are a first come first serve basis and when we visited in Mar all campgrounds were full. Marathon is close to an hour from Big Bend depending on your driving speed preference. You...

We arrived late, and all the other places in Marathon were booked. Thankfully we had camping gear, and we were able to car camp pretty cheaply; I think I was $15 for two people. They had a hot shower which was much-needed after a cold night camping. The receptionist was new and didn't know the area she admitted, but she...

After we had given a credit card to pay for a room, we discovered that the hotel provides ear plugs for use while asleep because it is very close to a railroad track. I cannot sleep with any thing sticking in my ears. Between ten and probably midnight, I stopped counting after six freight trains who blew their whistles at...

It was the only place to stay available in town when we went. The room was clean enough but not perfect. The bathroom was old and not really well maintained but definitely OK for one night. You can hear the train from there but they give you ear plugs which is nice! (and to be honest you can hear it...

Even if you don't expect the best motels in Marathon, this one is of poor quality compares with the price, which does not even include breakfast! Location is ok, but the proximity of the railway keeps you up at night. Internet was very slow, hardly usable. Not recommended!

We were with a group of friends for a bicycle race in the area. We had several rooms, the apartment and an RV in the RV park. The rooms were nice but small. The bathrooms were tiny. Each room had a porch, and the grounds were lovely. There were two outdoor areas to gather and to watch the night skies....
