We stayed in the best of all of the lodging, the Captain Shephard Carriage House. It was a quiet duplex apart from the main center of their units. Caution, it is quite expensive. The interior was quite modern, dark, but very comfortable. The sound from the railroad was very dominant at night and we were glad to be the furthest...

Really enjoyed our room in this historic hotel. Nice furnishings, comfortable and spacious. A little pricey but they are one of a very few places to stay close to the park. Spend some time talking to the friendly staff. Warning! There is a 4:15 am train that goes right by!! No problem for us we enjoyed the early morning star...

My beautiful wife of 41 years and I wanted to hike in Big Bend National Park for our anniversary. We decided to stay at the Gage Hotel and drive the one hour or so everyday into the park...great choice! The hotel was very western quaint and the staff was quite friendly! Also, the hotel restaurant was at least 4 star...

This is a fabulous destination hotel if you are in the area to see Big Bend, Marfa, or Alpine. Lovingly renovated by oil and ranch magnate, JP Bryan, it was a comfortable, charming place to stay for a night. The restaurant and bar had great food and drinks and a wonderful atmosphere. Bryan appears to own much of the town...

We stayed out of season and didn't have a chance to use the facilities. But this hotel has great indoor and outdoor spaces and very friendly staff. The room was fine but the whole environment was the highlight. The garden a few blocks away was lovely and everyone should visit.

Absolutely beautiful. Friendly staff, clean rooms, beautifully decorated, pet friendly and located conveniently near Big Bend. The lobby alone was quite the sight to see. Definitely enhanced our trip to Big Bend.

Stayed here twice, once on the way from Marfa to Big Bend, and then on the way from Big Bend to San Antonio. Wonderful rustic charm, attentive and responsive staff, and a fun restaurant. An oasis in the desert!

We used this hotel as our base for a 3 night visit to Big Bend. It is very comfortable with loads of ambience in both the rooms and the property. Some guests might find the lack of a tv troubling, but its really not needed for the most part. Wifi is available if you've brought your computer. I would recommend...

Stayed here after our brief visit to Big Bend National Park - quite the Oasis - We stayed in the main lodge and found the stairway a bit difficult to handle with luggage. The room was large with no TV and the bed was comfortable. After walking the property, I believe on of the pool side rooms would be better...

We love staying in good old hotels on our trips. J.P. Bryan and his wife bought this hotel when it was in dilapidated condition years ago, and brought it back to these beautiful buildings and grounds that we now enjoy. The lobby and original building are remarkable and there for your enjoyment. We stayed in room 2 and it was...
