This hotel is the Marfa art/culture scene in a nutshell. Minimalist, the small rooms are sparse, with beds close to the floor, some minimal furniture and industrial feeling bathrooms. The courtyard is nice and relaxing. Checking in can be a bit tricky, since there is no office for the hotel. You actually check in at the restaurant across the street,...

We arrived very late and had a little confusion checking in at the Capri bar on the other side of the road, but it was pretty simple once figured out. The room was clean and sparse as others have mentioned. In January, it was dead..... crickets.... I mean Norman Bates was about to come offer us a sandwich any minute,...

the hotel has no front desk so it's hard to get help with small, normal requests. we needed more blankets because the rooms were cold; the bathroom area could really use a small floor rug as the cement floors are cold; boxes of tissues would have been handy; the lights outside the room never worked so finding the keyhole in...

Really fun and confortable hotel to stay in Marfa. Lots of space and closets, cozy they have everything you need. Bar and restaurant across the road, really friendly staff you can rent bikes. We scanned all the hotels around and if you are a cool person, this is your best bet.

Great concept and cool art but, overall, it was a bit underwhelming and the hipster staff seemed pretty disinterested in their guests. The room was sparse and clean but the communal pool area felt a bit neglected. We really wanted to love the Thunderbird, but the hype didn't really deliver.

I loved the spare decorations, and didn't need a TV or phone in my room - because I was only there to sleep and the bed was very comfortable! So much to do in Marfa. There are only two drawbacks to the Thunderbird, and neither can be helped: the train is very noisy (earplugs are provided in the rooms), and...

My room was lovely, very sparse and nicely decorated. The whole place had a super cool vibe -- great pool and grounds. BUT...the a/c was so loud that every time it turned on I woke up, and I couldn't sleep with the windows open because there were people hanging out in the courtyard/at the pool. There was no coffee machine...

I had heard about the Thunderbird from friends visiting Marfa and was eager to give it a try. Couldn't have been more disappointed. First, there was no staff anywhere, and the hotel was occupied that weekend with obnoxious guests in town for a wedding. Housekeeping did a poor job keeping the common area clean . . . empty beer bottles,...

The pictures are what you get! A no frills, no service hotel for sure! I arrived late after 5 as was the plan. Picked up keys a Capri across street check ID and got keys. As I said what you see is what you get! Pillows were not very good and the mattress provided no support. Was a clean Room!...

Travelled to Marfa for a wedding and this hotel was recommended by a friend who had previously visited. What a great find! The owners converted a mid-century motor-court motel into a hip, Texas-centric hotel that is comfortable and well appointed. If your inner-bougie is craving hand stirred cocktail and kale salad, than walk on over to The Thunderbird's Bar called...
