A good hotel, beautifully situated on the banks of the river Vezere and handy for touring the Dordogne region. The hotel has a nice terrace where you can take drinks or breakfast and a decent restaurant with small bar area. Good service and friendly staff. Rooms are clean, most have a good bathroom with bath. Rooms are either on road...

We stayed here with a group on a rail holiday, had a room overlooking the square and river with great views. The staff were very welcoming, found the room clean, comfortable and a good size. Can get a bit of traffic noise but well worth it for the view. Would not hesitate to recommend it.

If you're looking for location and a decent place to stay for a night or two, this is it. Be sure to grab a riverside view....offers a spectacular vista. Overall, good value for the money and well situated right across from the town square and market.

We stayed here while on a rail holiday. The hotel is a little 'tired' in places but exceptionally clean, rooms good size and the food was excellent. There is a pool on the roof with lovely views over the river and hillside. A small but interesting food market twice a week, goods walks both along the river and around the...

I stayed here as part of the Rail Discoveries tour of the Dordogne. The hotel is conveniently situated near shops and the market which is held twice a week. It is right on the bank of the river Vezere so if you are interested in birds it's great for seeing Kingfishers and Herons in particular. Several of my fellow travellers...

We are surprised by the negative comments about this hotel. Sure it is a little tired in places but refurbished bedrooms overlooking the river are fine. Sparkling clean bathrooms too. As for the food, it was super! We stayed five nights with a large coach-tour group, and we loved every single evening dinner. The waiting staff were invariably collecting clean...

This is our second stay at the Royal Vezere, en route to gites nearby, so both visits have been Friday night. OK, so the hotel is 'faded' and in need of some TLC, but it's welcoming, has good staff, good value, clean, has comfy beds, a bathroom with a bath in it (becoming a rarity), has a pool on the...

We booked a rail tour with Treyn to the Dordogne (now re branded Rail Discoveries), Hotel Royal Vezere, Le Bugue. The hotel is well located. We had wonderful views from our 3rd floor room which overlooked both the small town square and the river. Décor was dated but perfectly acceptable, large room, walk in shower, clean and comfortable. Our buffet...

Visited this hotel with Treyn holidays on 23rd July when it was very hot, so really appreciated the lovely river view from our bedroom and being able to sit on the terrace after our evening meal. My friend and I were disappointed with the quality of the food as it was a set menu for our party. We have stayed...
