We were not staying here but booked the restaurant. Parking was available at the rear. The food is French (country), cooked well, served simply and delicious. The chef mingled when free, staff were excellent, and the ambience really comfortable…what more do you need

Great hotel - room was spotless with a comfortable bed and was quiet.
The staff were very helpful.
A highlight was the great food in the restaurant (see separate review).
Can't fault it!

New owners in May 2022.
Easy to find on the way into Le Bugue, and a quiet spot and 2 mins walk into the main town.

Le Bugue is a good site for that part of the Dordogne and the hotel is well sited just clear of the centre of town with its own carpark. It does need investment but what is there is adequate, clean, and the staff and patron charming and helpful. The restaurant is excellent.

Warm welcome when I arrived with my folding bike and camping gear. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was spotless and well appointed albeit small. Bed was comfortable with beautiful smooth linen. How many thread counts do you ask? ? A lot I believe. Bathroom well appointed and good quality fixtures. Restaurant with wonderful food and the menu of the day was delicious and excellent value. Stylish courtyard where one could dine surrounded by greenyDown a quiet street but near the centre and excellent value for cost. Luxury to be able to watch television in bed after some time camping.

Hotel Le Cygne, which is part of the Logis de France grouping of independently run hotels, is in an old building about 5 minutes from the center square of Le Bugue, a charming town in the Perigord. Le Bugue is also a good location for seeing the nearby caves at Les-Eyzies-de-Tayac. WE were in a family room on the second floor that was immaculate and though simply furnished (think IKEA) the beds were comfortable as were the pillows. The bathroom is larger than I would have expected in such an old building. Breakfast at the hotel was an offering of baguette, pain du chocolat and a croissant per person along with some cheeses, yogurt with honey, cereals, fresh fruit and cottage cheese. However, the coffee was a bit "muddy".

Stayed here for three nights this week and could not have been happier. The room was clean and well equipped. This logis is not a chain, but a charming local hotel with friendly owners. What made it even better was the restaurant. Bruno is an exceptional chef. The menus were diverse, but did concentrate primarily with local produce. The fois gras and the confit were excellent. The highlight was the dish with filet de boeuf and fois gras, sliced with a cep sauce. I can still remember the taste. It is this type of hotel that caters for guests in a low-key atmosphere and offers superb food that makes France such a great place to be. Great value and also free wifi.

We had a massive room for 4 of us directly above the reception. For sure it could do with a bit of modernisation but it was clean and perfect for our requirements.

Parking (out of season) was easy across the road but may be a different story in the summer.

We would certainly stay there again if we needed a couple of nights in Le Bugue.

We stayed here for two nights. IF one keeps in mind that it is a 2-star hotel, it was adequate. Poor room design meant that considerable light came through the bathroom, through a glass window high up that looked into the main sleeping area; with a light outside the bathroo window, there was no way to avoid quite a bit of light coming inside the room. The walls were very thin; when the staff tried to get into the cleaning closet adjacent to our room, it always sounded like they were tryng to come in our room. A couple of times, it sounded like an elephant was jumping off the bed in the room above and the building literally shook. However, the restaurant on site was quite good, and open to guests for a limited-but-good menu even on the night when it was closed to the public. Breakfast was pastries, yogurt, applesauce, coffee; no meat tray - but they kept it open for us long after we expected when our baby delayed us. The staff was very friendly, and set the available highchair up at every meal for us and seemed to genuinely like the baby. I would eat there again before I stayed there, but then I am a very light sleeper.

We had one night here. The hotel is well placed for visiting Le Bugue and has a free car park. Breakfast is basic, but fresh and well-presented. All in all it's okay value and the welcome was warm. But the decor is definitely in need of a touch up. Also, if you want to use the free wifi, ask for a room not on the top floor as the connection was rather weak up there.

we stayed just one night; the owner has bought the hotel very recently (1st Aug 2012) and is making every effort to be successful; we could not say he isn't helpful or eager to please. The rooms need refreshing and the bathrooms too; the carpeting smells funny, the paint is old, the appliances are rundown. Breakfast was in a depressing little room, but everything was ok: fresh bread and croissants, fruit juices, yogurth and so on.
We didn't stop in the restaurant.
