Superb service from A to Z. Great food and a great variety for all the tastes. Value for money surely! But the real highlight is the friendliness of the staff! They are fantastic! Special thanks to Raul, Emma, Polanco, Toni and Javier. They definitely made our stay happier and funnier! :) We will definitely come back! Absolutely loved it.

Clean and spacious room (Single with large bed). Good large swimming pool (there were 3 I believe - I only used 1). Sun area allowed constant sun - good hotel layout and design. Good breakfast (except egg chef didn't really know how to make fried eggs (no oil on heat base therefore big problem scooping them up)). Good location, staff keep out of your way but were there when needed.

We had a room on the 5th floor with the balcony overlooking the pool. Beds 1 single + 1 double, firm but not hard. We slept well. Shower excellent TV great choice of channels, Spanish. French. German and English. Staff very good and remember to tip the staff that clean your room and serve you in the bar and dining area. Pool and gyms. Great. And now the bad news The dining area I was hoping to eat outside to better protect ourselves from the virus. Everyone had to use the same indoor dining area. Which meant 100 plus diners in an enclosed area. The food was ok with a good selection of salads and fruit, but the salad dressing are in 1 lt. containers, remember 100 plus diners hands shaking the salad dressing before you. ( yes I know there is gel in the dining area but people forget to use it ) Most of the restaurant in Spain offer you an outdoor area to dine so if you are like me who have lost relatives from the virus choose the restaurants to eat in. Entertainment was good if you are very young or if you like to waltz to an very average singer. I am 70 years young and he was too old for me. Will I go there again ? YES but, not to eat.

We stayed in the Golden Port for 10 days arriving at the end of July 2020. Check in was fairly quick and straightforward. One negative was that I did not get offered the opportunity to pay in Sterling, only Euro which meant I received a currency exchange fee of nearly £100. I only noticed this when I got back home so didn't annoy me on holiday - but it did when I seen my statement back at home! Our family room was in the new Suites block which was very clean and modern. There is a separate room for kids and the main room is quite spacious with excellent air con. Also a lot of storage for clothes etc. in both rooms. Bathroom is a good size with a powerful shower. There is no shower door or lip so you need to be careful that the bathroom doesn't flood if the shower is used for multiple showers in quick succession. The terrace outside the room is really great. It is in an L shape and captures the sun or shade at any given time. very nice just to sit out and read or do nothing. It can get quite noisy in the mornings when rooms are being serviced but that has been the case at all hotels in Spain where I have stayed. A group of younger males were staying at a room close by for our last 4 nights. They were quite boisterous at 3-4am and interrupted our sleep. Might be something for the hotel to look at in terms of when allocating rooms? The rooms were serviced to a very high standard for each day of our stay. Service at the bar was reasonably quick although there was not much in terms of friendliness or conversation. Jesus, Antonio and Emma, the exceptions who were all really nice and helpful. Drinks were all branded - Smirnoff, Gordons etc. The Magnum lollies were great, although they did run out halfway through our stay. Snacks such as pizza, burgers and toasties were all really great for light bites. Food in the restaurant was excellent with lots of variety. The service here was much more pleasant and friendly. The staff member who stood out being Javier. Always a chat and a smile to make you feel welcome. Entertainment wise, we had the hardworking Brox to look after us. Not sure if this guy ever takes a day off!? During the day it was some basic games like pool, darts table tennis etc. but Brox had a knack of remembering everyone's names and getting people involved, so very good fun and a nice way to meet people. There was a different theme each evening such as music, dancing, magic shows , to name but a few. One drawback is that these seem to go in the same order each week so if you are staying for more than a week you risk a repeat. Not sure if this might be linked to the current pandemic and there are less acts available. The hotel has 3 decent size pools and a smaller one for kids. All have plenty of sun loungers and are very clean. On reception, we found Jacqueline very helpful when ordering taxis and organizing a late check out. The hotel is extremely clean with sanitizer everywhere to help counter the threat of COVID. Felt much safer in Spain than back in the UK /Ireland. Overall a really nice stay the Golden Port. As a family we love Salou, and we would definitely stay here again if the price was right.

We came to book this hotel on the rebound from our usual place been closed till next year due to the virus outbreak. What a lucky day it was when we decided on the Golden Pond! The hotel is in an excellent position for beach and shops but not noisy. Our room 545 was facing the pool and the balcony was an absolute sun trap! We had a kettle, fridge and hairdryer in the standard price all which can be charged extra at some hotels. The staff including cleaners were all lovely especially Fidel the bar man and the guy who showed you to your table in the dining room. He always made conversation and was very friendly. The food was really good, with lots of variety and of a high-quality. Drinks were all brands including Absolute and Smirnoff vodkas, Barcadi rum etc. These were included in the all-inclusive price A delightful Hotel I can highly recommend!
