Traveled to the Isle of Skye and stayed at Edinbane for a few nights, northwest of Portree. We were very well taken care of by the Pralls at the Shorefield House, which has a lovely view across the road, and a terrific location to enjoy the area. Edinbain is a true rural village. The Shorefield House is just off the main road and across from the Edinbane Hotel, which has a great pub and Scottish music nearly each night by local, national and international musicians. A block away, the Edinbane Pottery is unique and worth a visit. Breakfasts at the Shorefield House were filling and memorable. Accomodations were modern and airy. Children will be welcomed and have a yard area for play. Ocean and interesting locations are within short distances on Skye and Edinbane proved to be an excellent overall choice. Try the Shorefield House at:

Excellent in every way. Clean, comfortable, handy location (for Skye visit), great restaurant across road, friendly, breakfast superb with varied choice, immaculate. Plenty of varied tea, snack bars and fresh milk in room. Even the bathroom beakers were changed daily. Best B&B we have used , anywhere. No hesitation in recommending.

You will be assured of a very warm welcome by hosts Peter and Hilary in their beautiful B and B situated at the end of the loch. We had a lovely view from our very comfortable bedroom. In addition to the immaculate en suite shower room there was a small fridge with bottled water and fresh milk provided for our complimentary tea and coffee. The bed was very comfortable and the fluffy white toweling robes completed the experience. The breakfast menu was extensive and the food was expertly cooked and presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and would love to return.

The most comfortable, well appointed and presented self catering we have stayed in.
Every detail had been thought of and there were lots of special treats. The cupboard and fridge contained enough supplies that we did not need to shop. Hilary is a super host. We will stay here on Skye on our next trip

We stayed at Shorefield House a couple of days while driving around Scotland and it was a perfect stay. Peter and Hilary are excellent hosts, very friendly and always ready to help and recommend things to do. Our room was great, breakfast amazing! On top of that, the house is across the street from Edinbane Inn, which is a great restaurant and very convenient especially after driving all day. We would certainly recommend Shorefield House. 5 stars!

I will first say that Hilary was absolutely great at trying to find dates that worked with our schedule to accommodate our family of four to Skye, which was nearly fully booked six weeks prior to our visit in July. Communications were timely and informative prior to our arrival. Once at Shorefield we found ourselves pampered with comfortable beds and linens. It was the first time my husband used the towel warmer, he's hooked! Light snacks and wine were a welcome treat.

Hilary helped review our hiking plans and what we could realistically pack into our stay and recommended a local small hike to enjoy the non commercial scenery.

After a week of traditional Scottish breakfasts we couldn't be more grateful to find a menu with a variety of options to accommodate anyone's appetite. This included my son's many allergies (gluten, dairy and eggs....a breakfast nightmare)! The continental breakfast options was quite varied, I could have been completely fine with just this but couldn't resist the french toast with fruit and creme (delicious). It was also very handy to walk over to the Inn for supper in the evenings (great meals). I love b&b's during our many vacations and this was among the best! I'd highly recommend it.
PS...Peter you were the perfect host, thank you for remembering our names on day two! Most never ask or care.
Thank you both for sharing your perfect oasis.

Our hosts, Hilary and Peter, were very warm, friendly and super helpful. Our rooms were clean, cosy, comfortable, and lovely to spend time in at the end of the day. The breakfast was over the top: delicious, fresh and lots of variety to choose from. We will definitely return one day.
