The past two summers I stayed at the Lodge for long weekend with friends. To me, the location is perfect and getting tubes to float the Guadalupe River could not be easier or more convenient. The tube rental staff is extremely nice. However, they are in desperate need of an extermination service in their rooms. The bathroom in our room...

This place is wayyyy overpriced for what you get. Your high nightly rate really does not get you much but a stay in a moldy, dirty, and bug infested rooms. The grills are rusted out, the "kitchen" is worse than any college dorm room, and then you have to pay another 20 dollars to float the river. I do not...

My stay here could not be more disappointing. I am a soldier and I would rather be in the woods, no tent, and on a pile of rocks than sleep here again. I actually decided to put on pants, use a blanket in my car, and use my own pillow while staying here. I left a day early and will...

My stay was wonderful. The grounds and river brought back so many memories. The rooms need some updating but I wasn't there to stay in my room. A great time was had by all in our group. My children will have wonderful memories that will last them a lifetime! Can't wait to go back. Thanks to all the staff -...

Run as if from a fire, absolute dump! The price is terrible ! The rooms are nasty and not worth the money. If I could I would leave but for 300 dollars it's not worth it. I would NEVER reccommend or stay here if I had known. The pictures on the website do it no justice. It is totally inaccurate....

I have NEVER written a review about any hotel/lodge before - good or bad. However, I feel compelled to warn people about this RIP-OFF. For starters, for a room to be $110 in the off-season is not outrageous, but you do expect it to be clean and maintained. I don't mind simple accommodations and/or old or "rustic charm" (as one...

After taking a 28 hour train ride and meeting my mother in San Marcos I was more than ready for a little down time. We loved our two night visit in December before Christmas and would gladly stay there again. The staff was very kind. The room was comfortable. I probably would have added a chair to sit in, but...

Be warned that this is an older property and if Four Seasons style accommodations are what you are looking for, then this is not the place for you. If you don't mind a bit of "rustic charm", however, you will love this place. First, you will not likely find a more affordable place right on the river. Second, the bonus...

Friendly staff members who ready to help us during our stay! They are knowledgeable about the river which helped us plan our float trips! The outfitters are on sight and are equally as helpful with logistics and the transport of all our gear to our drop off point! We had one of the best rooms closest to the river which...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Come on down and enjoy our laid-back, family owned river lodge in New Braunfels along the beautiful banks of the Guadalupe River. The Lodge is a place to let your hair down, relax, grab a cold beer and enjoy exciting activities on the river, from kayaking to tubing and rafting. Play a game of volleyball, dive into the sparkling swimming pool, or play video games on the big screen in our clubhouse. If none of that strikes your fancy, head to historic Gruene for some local shopping, enjoy our Texas flavors or people watch with a glass of Texas wine under the trees. Don't forget to check out Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. Later in the afternoon, back at The Lodge, relax in a hammock under the canopy of pecan and black oak trees. As night falls, the fireflies let you know that it is time for a campfire, s'mores and maybe a ghost story. Our accommodations and location are perfect for Snowbirds or Winter Texans as known by the locals. Many of our rooms have full kitchens and queen-size pillow-top beds. "It is a wonderful property with none of the cookie cutter look and feel of "today". It is a home away from home feel." ... more   less
