We brought our family to this Friday night rodeo (they do it every Friday night in the summer--check their website) and what a great experience for those city folk who had never seen a rodeo before. We sat in a comfortable bleachers and the kids pigged out on hot dogs and other snacks while watching bull riding, calf roping, and... More

My husband wanted to ride horses so we booked a night at the BR Lightning Ranch. It looked nice from the website so we called to make a reservation. When we arrived, no one was around! Finally, a gentleman, who we later found was the owner, came around and greeted us. He didn't have any record of our reservation but... More

after searching the web we decided that BR Lightning Ranch sounded and looked the best place to stay for an authentic ranch experience and boy were we right. We booked in for one night and were given a wooden built cabin in the grounds with fully fitted kitchen and lovely sleeping facilites. We even had a rocking chair on the... More

We came to the Lightning Ranch by chance (had some problems with our original reservation elsewhere) but were so glad we did. We stayed in the Hitchin' Post cabin. It was small but clean, cozy and rustic. The surroundings of horses, dogs, donkeys, chickens and peacocks added to the ranch experience (unfortunately, we didn't get to see a rodeo this... More

We were graciously welcomed and hosted by Miss Jayne and her ranch "family" --and quickly became part of that family. We stayed in the Lone Star (2 adults and 2 kids) --kids loved the loft, and the cabin (with kitchen) was clean, cool and comfortable. Breakfast was generous, our trail guides and wranglers were professional, attentive and expert with the... More

We spent a long weekend at Lightning Ranch and can't wait to go back. The cabins are very well decorated (western) and the staff freindly. Every morning we were served breakfast in the pavillion and enjoyed visting with the other guest. The horse back riding was fun and the hill country beautiful. We will definetly return.

We stayed 3 nights in the Longhorn, a small, newer cabin. The ranch is about a 10 minute drive to Medina Lake and 10 minutes to the town of Bandera. The cabin had a full kitchen, full size bed plus a loft, perfect for 2 people. The cabin was clean and had Western decor, 3/4 bath (shower), no phone or... More

My wife and I take our grandchildren on a vacation every year. We arrived at the ranch and were greeted in a friendly manner. That afternoon we had an enjoyable horse back ride. We were placed in an old dirty unit with the leftovers of the prior guest still in the refrigerator. The air conditioner was not working and it... More

This past weekend family members from all over the country met in San Antonio. This was the first time our reunion had been in Texas, and we wanted to show them a Texas style 4th of July. We spent the day at Lightning Ranch. We enjoyed swimming, horseback riding, the trick roper, a delicious barbeque dinner, and fireworks. Everyone from... More

My wife and I with three children stayed here for two nights in 2002 and it was an excellant experience. Very friendly staff, and we were able to explore freely throughout the ranch. Excellant home cook meals in the barn. It is a quiet ranch, at least when we were there and makes a relaxing vacation. Great horseback rides.
