We are not folks to be writing reviews on places, just too busy unless something just doesn't measure up. We recently stayed at this place as it seemed charming, was well located & historic. We tried staying the night before, showed up at 8 pm to find that the office closes at 6, really! Staff were friendly. Upon checking in...

I've stayed at the Tarpon Inn over several years. The place is in the best shape today it has ever been. Regardless it has a wonderful feel about it. It is not a luxury hotel. But expect to have very comfortable, clean rooms. Wonderful porches to sit on and relax. And no phones or TVs gives you message that you...

Never having been to Port Aransas, I selected Tarpon Inn for its history. The minute I spoke with Candy Compton, I knew it was the right place. The arrival welcome set the tone for wonderful hospitality from Candy. First, she helped us find just the right room #39 listening to what was important for us. Extra blanket at the ready...

Called to inquire about rates and details regarding rental of courtyard area for a birthday party. Was quoted pricing and was told I would receive a call back from chef and staff to go over menu, decor and further details. Never received any response, so I tried back and was told, once again, someone would get back with me. This...

I've only stayed at this one hotel in the Port A area, so I can't say for sure how it compares... but my impression is that this hotel is average for the area. It's historic, which is code of "small rooms," "no tv," "no phones," "window AC units," and "variable water temperatures". I was expecting the small rooms, so that...

The Tarpon Inn is a historic hotel when it was 1st built only access was by boat. Which is how F.D ROOSEVELT arrived. Was built originally for army barracks later years morphed into the hotel. Got it's name from the namesake large fish that makes it run in the waters there. The hotel has 24 rooms that are all different decor...

A bit of history but that's about it. Rooms are very small and a/c window unit made it hard to sleep. It does have history and I can say we have stayed there but probably not again. We go to Port A at least one a year and there are a lot of other places to stay. Try Sunday Villas....

Just returned from a 2 night stay for a family reunion and deep sea fishing trip. The hotel has kept it's ambiance furnished with antiques and hardwood floors. Rocking chairs on the porch were a great spot to watch Port A on parade. There are no TVs or phones in the rooms. The only complaint would be the old, slippery,...

Perfect place to slow down and recharge away from modern technology....Always a friendly staff, and easy to check in...Nice just to sit out on the porch in the rocking chairs and enjoy the evening breeze.

We have been staying at the Tarpon Inn for over 9 years. It's old and has some of the quirks of an old place...but we love rocking on the front porch with a drink in hand and our dog at our feet. If you enjoy chatting with strangers and people watching, it's a fantastic location. We always meet the greatest...

With 200' long porches to relax on since 1886, the longest porches in Texas stretches and relaxes along with you. The salt air and breezes are gently encouraged by old-fashioned ceiling fans.  The sweet creaking of roomy rocking chairs blends with the pages of a novel being turned. Where each room is decorated in period antiques and no two rooms are alike and where there are no televisions nor telephones.      If our place sounds like your kind of place, then please consider this an invitation to make yourself at home.
