Awesome staff and great location as far as the beach. You can walk to the beach from your Hotel it’s literally right there! I will definitely use them again. I like the convenience of the cafe being behind the hotel!!! Rooms were nice and clean and the service was great!!

Even though we mostly stay at 4* properties, we came here with the right expectations: converted "motel" property, decent restaurant (where we'd dined many times), great location, etc. We know it's not fancy and not a 4* property and we didn't expect that kind of experience.

Oh my! I am genuinely sorry you were so deeply disappointed in us. It seems as though everything went wrong at once. Let me address each of your 4 concerns. 1. We would love to switch to a digital key system at Palms. We have been searching for 5 years for a system that will survive our proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. We've been to hospitality trade shows and have received bids from several companies. Money is not the issue. Once they see how close we are to the beach and how exposed the electronics would be to the salt air, none of them would stand behind their system. But we re-check every year, so we will try again this fall to see if the technology has evolved to ensure consistent performance for our guests in spite of our "salty-Gulf-air" environment. If you know a digital lock system that is designed for a highly corrosive environment, please do pass that information along to us. We would greatly appreciate it! 2. I am so sorry you weren't greeted in a manner that you found "welcoming". As you can see from other reviews, our front desk staff get very good reviews for being friendly and helpful. I did some checking and found that we had a bit of a "situation" when you checked in. The (pregnant) front desk associate that was working thought she went into labor prematurely that day and had JUST left work when you arrived. Our Manager was undoubtedly preoccupied with concerns for our employee's health and having to juggle schedules to get another associate at the front desk as soon as possible. I'm so sorry you felt "hurried" and not welcome when you checked in. That is definitely not the norm for us. I investigated your concern about your food allergy. Your comment surprised me because our chefs are always willing to make accommodations and adjustments for our guests and commonly check ingredients. None of our servers remember a guest asking about our thousand island dressing. It is not unusual for us to get asked about specific ingredients, and we are always happy to check. They remembered a guest with a fish allergy last week that asked about our cooking oils (which we keep separate), but they've had no other questions about food ingredients. I can only surmise, in this case, there was an unfortunate misunderstanding. I want you and other Trip Advisor readers to know we are very willing to check ingredients for our guests and make adjustments and accommodations whenever possible. 3. I agree with you that a rusty bolt on the toilet base isn't something you expect to see in your hotel room. As the result of your feedback we have inspected and cleaned or replaced all rusty bolts on the bases of our toilets. We have also added that as an inspection item for our housekeepers. We work very hard to keep our rooms spotlessly clean. I'm sorry we didn't catch this bit of rust before you checked in. 4. I definitely am not a smoker. Can't stand to be anywhere near it. It's a big yuk for me too. We have considered going completely smoke-free on the property, but have had a lot of push-back from our regulars. But I can certainly see your point about smoking on the balcony and how that smell might drift into a non-smokers rooms. I promise you that I will see if we can set up a designated smoking area away from all guest room doors, then ban smoking on all the walkways adjacent to guest rooms. I'm so sorry we disappointed you. I'm a small business owner and I take all feedback seriously. We learn and improve from our guests' input. I think if you came back again, you would have a very different experience. You would see that, while we aren't perfect all day every day...we usually delight our guests! All of our rooms have either a king or queen bed, and a foldout sofa bed.

We are pet friendly. We do have a pet fee of $45/stay. So if you are staying 1 day or 5 days there is only one $45. It is not a deposit. We also ask that dogs not be left alone in the room to help us avoid noise issues with other guests.

Thank you for your interest in our hotel. Please forgive the delayed response. All of our rooms our oriented north and south and share a common exterior balcony. Since we are located right on the beach our upstairs rooms closest to the beach do offer a view of the Gulf. I would recommend that you visit our website to get a better idea of what our charming boutique hotel looks like. I will also mention that the 2 rooms located upstairs closet to the beach do provide a little more privacy for sitting outside and enjoying a beverage and watching the waves. We also have a convenient beach access just a few short feet from all rooms. Please call us if you have more questions. Thank you.
