Stayed one night on trip west. Lovely lobby and courtyard. Beautiful tile work from the 1930's. The room was small; bathroom small. Likely as built in the 1930's. But it had a microwave and small fridge in a closet. Very convenient. Nice staff. Ate dinner on the courtyard. Had our dog on leash as did several other diners. Good food;...

All the years I've been driving on I10, I never stopped here. Big mistake. This is a wonderful historic hotel and I wish I could move in. Free Sunday NYTImes, great bar, room was perfect and an evening walk was interesting. There is charm where you don't expect it. I might come here just for the hotel, next time. I...

We changed up our routine driving trip from Arizona to Dallas this past spring to switch from our usual overnight in El Paso to El Capitan in Van Horn We were so pleased with the difference, because our overnight stay was so much more interesting and unique at this hotel. It's definitely more of an experience to stay here -...

We splurged for a second floor room with a deck overlooking the courtyard . Not a great view past the courtyard but pleasant to sit out on a cool evening. The room was not large, especially with king size bed, but it was comfortable and had amble chargers for devices. Kind of pricey compared to the other chain hotels just...

This Hotel has a nice history. It is one of several build in the 1930s in western Texas/southern New Mexico. They've done a nice job of renovating it. In front of the Hotel is a courtyard with a large fountain at its center. The temp in the courtyard feels a good 10 degrees cooler than outside it. The lobby is...

This historic hotel is always a favorite stop in our travels each year. The staff is friendly, and they always have our keys ready and waiting for our arrival--excellent! All hotels should do this, making check-in easy! Bravo! This year we had a room overlooking the courtyard, with a tiny balcony. Our room was small but adequate, as usual there....

This is a cool spot that will make you feel like you've stepped back in time 80 years. The hotel's renovation pays proper homage to its heritage. The restaurant offers great selections. I will say, I do think my room 254 was haunted. Overall, I highly recommend.

We stayed at Hotel El Capitan twice on a recent trip to Arizona. This is a very nice hotel. Probably the best in Van horn but we've never stayed at the others. Comfortable beds, nice linens, free bottled water, good TV selections, very clean and the nicest staff we've encountered in some time. Everyone there seemed genuinely happy, friendly and...

What do you need in a hotel? 1. Good night's sleep. Check, more or less. The bed was delightfully comfortable. But the pillows were literally bricks. Very hard. I'm glad I brought my own pillow! And one other problem--I was reminded of the hotel/train scene in "My Cousin Vinny." Vinny Gambini: "Yesterday you told me that freight train hardly ever...
