I've stayed here four times for starting and finishing San Juan River trips. The last stay, after a late arrival coming off the river, was like arriving in heaven. The desert heat was extreme, but the room was perfect. Everything was closed for meals as I had expected. The convenience store next door had what I needed, cold milk and... More

Travelling in Utah with friends on a 3 week hiking & sightseeing vacation . My husband & I had stayed at the Recapture Lodge in the Spring 2014 while on a lengthy road trip. Returning to Utah for us ment a return to this rustic, friendly, family run motel. We booked two rooms, once containing a kitchenette enabling us to... More

My two brothers and I stayed in the double wide that Recapture owns near the hotel. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and plenty of room. It is furnished with 70's style furniture. The place is a real time warp. However, it is comfortable and relatively inexpensive. The wifi is not fast...at all. It is very quiet, has a... More

3rd visit to Bluff and 2nd to the Recapture. Like coming home. Friendly, homey, informative and just overall a great little place. Breakfast comes with the room and the rooms are clean and quaint. Hosts are great! Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bluff.

Have stayed here many times because the owner Jim Hook has a wealth of knowledge on the area to include the many ruin sites. With this info now available on the internet travelers can stay in more modern facilities. Recapture is an old style motel and the furnishings look like they have been there when it was built. It is... More

We stayed only one night, but it was very pleasant. After a number of days hiking and camping in the Butler Wash area (Comb Ridge) we opted for a room with a shower and chose Recapture Lodge....very quiet, comfortable (lots of hot water!) and friendly. Don't think you will find a more friendly staff. There was plenty to eat for... More

Stayed here to meet up with some friends to go on a hiking trip. The hotel was not modern but it was nice. Both my room and beds were comfortable and I enjoyed my stay. The room came with a microwave and fridge. The area and the others in the hotel were quiet so no complaints there. They did serve... More

Loved the old fashioned ambiance and setting including a wonderful well marked and lit "trail" (narrow road) leading to the river and further. Quiet, pet friendly, clean and upgraded. Basic buffet breakfast, OK coffee. Hated the squishy pillows but beautiful, quiet setting would have compensated if there had only been air conditioning...not even a fan to stir the air! Liked... While this lodge is not a five star facility in a bustling city, we could not have been happier that we stayed there. The lodge is an older, quaint facility in a super quiet location with wonderful friendly owners. From the smiling faces that greeted us when we arrived, to the quiet, leisurely atmosphere as we sat in lawn chairs... More

Happy to have come across this place. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The bed was great! The front desk personnel were welcoming and helpful. There are some trails behind the lodge and you can walk all the way down to the San Juan River. It was peaceful and beautiful. Breakfast was simple, but the coffee was good and... More
