Ever stayed at a motel that's closed on Sundays? Neither had we, until the Robber's Roost. We pulled in at 5:30 pm on a cold rainy day and we were the only car at this drive-up-to-the-door motel built in the 1940's. Luckily on the office door, it said if you had a reservation, which we did, call this number. So we did, and the manager came and checked us into Room Five. Unless you embrace minimalism, don't stay in Room Five. Unlike pictures of other rooms at the Roost, ours did not have wood paneling...or an electrical outlet in the bathroom...or any artwork at all (stolen?) on the plain white walls...or an ice bucket...or Kleenex...or drinking cups..or a full set of towels for two people...or weatherstripping around the door. Oddly, you stepped down into the room upon entering and stepped up to enter the bathroom. So, hey..our first sunken living room in a motel. In the bathroom the toilet was so close to the bathtub, that when you stood up, your face hit the shower curtain. And you know how burning hair smells? That's what it smelled like when we turned on the heater to warm up the room. We thought the smell would go away after a while, but nope. So we turned the heater off, opened the door to clear out the smell, and watched a cold rain from our sunken living room. Oh, forgot to mention the microwave and fridge were in the closet. Sounds pretty bad doesn't it? But hang on. What this room did have was the most comfortable bed and pillows of our entire 3-week road trip. Plus it was clean. Plus the manager was very helpful. He brought us ice in a bucket upon request. He was extremely friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and weather reports and we're sure he would have brought us some more towels had we requested them, but we weren't going to use the shower anyway. So would we stay at the Robber's Roost again? Maybe..but definitely not in Room Five.

I stayed at the Robbers Roost while on a month-long drilling project in Green River. The hotel itself is older and some of the rooms are a tad on the shabby side, but others have been remodeled and are very nice. As I understand it, they are in the process of remodeling every room. Some reviews here complain about the rooms, but I always found them to be very clean and comfortable, with everything in working order.
A very sweet young couple owns and runs the motel, and I have to say, they are some great people. They will bend over backward to accommodate your needs, and are very attentive. More than once I had an unusual request, and they went above and beyond to make it happen for me. I will stay here on future visits to green river without question.

How this place is rated 4 is beyond me. Wallpaper was maybe out of the 70’s. Room very dark with one light bulb in a three light fixture. Floor is soft and slants toward the corner of the room so you are walking uphill to the bathroom. Carpet was stained. Roof was starting to cave in on one side of the building. You can see daylight around the door and only had a vintage chain lock along with the doorknob lock. The bathroom was tiny but clean. The bed springs on my husbands side of the bed sprung every time he moved. This was the only availability in town last night so we took it. Next hotel was 91 miles away. Next time I’d sleep in my car.

Tripadvisor reviews were decent..so I thought, let's check it out and book a room.
The room was dirty and worn out. 1950's bathroom décor. I thought it could not get any worse until I went to bed and heard the man next door snoring loudly, the walls are truly paper thin. So, if you enjoy worn out rooms and paper walls this place is for you!

Thank you for your review. We take pride in the cleanliness of our rooms, so we are sorry to hear that the room was dirty. The motel was built in the late 40s, early 50s so you are right on that point. It has gone through several renovations since then and we are working to update/upgrade our rooms now. Every comment we can receive will help us make the Robbers Roost Motel better.

The rooms have small bars of soap and small towels. For the money you save you can buy a whole cart load of thick towels. The rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable. The room darkens well. The people that run the place are nice and very helpful. Though there is no hairdryer in the room, they will happily provide one. I have stayed in Green River many times but would never have considered this place had it not been for Trip Advisor. Each room has a fridg, microwave and tv. Although the motel is pet friendly, they have rooms in which pets are not allowed. Green River is one of my favorite places and this MOTEL is where I will stay from now on.

We went through Green River on our way to Moab and read about this independently owned motel on TripAdvisor and since It got decent reviews we booked two rooms. Although it was not high class, the bed was okay (I have a bad back so I am pickier than the average bear), the room and bathroom were spotless and they gave out AXE shampoo and razors for the guys (they probably need something for us gals though) but they also gave out nice little kits for those that hike that include Icy Hot and Breathe Right strips--a nice touch, and I always carry my own shampoo and conditioner anyway so I am not complaining by any means. There is no ice machine but if you ask the desk clerk/owner, they will give you ice. And the place was quiet even though the night we stayed there it was packed! A lot of the folks that go to that area a lot like to stay there and that certainly tells you something. No, the rooms are not large (but when you go to Green River are you really planning on spending a lot of time in your room? I mean really!) And the owners really know the area and where you can go for nice hikes or a great drive such as Black Dragon Canyon, Goblin Valley State Park as well as the good places to eat--Ray's (which has a good burgers) and The Tamarisk (which you get a discount on if you stay at this motel). Our room had a flat screen TV, the other room did not. Who cares? There was cable and WiFi and that was all we wanted.

I checked on tripadvisor prior to booking a room in Green River, this motel got good ratings so I decided to book with them. I was not disappointed! When we arrived for some reason the booking did not go through, I had followed a link on tripadvisor and thought I was successful with my booking, but when I arrived she did not show us as having a reservation. She gave us an even better discount for our trouble. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and we were provided with extra towels, we could not have been happier. This is one of the things I love about tripadvisor, prior to these travel sites you never knew about these motels that are little gems. What I want in a room is: #1 cleanliness, #2 comfortable, #3 nice staff. This little motel had everything I needed! I will recommend this motel to others and I will definitely stay there again if I am in the area. The only thing I hope they fix is the booking through tripadvisor (this could have been my mistake) because if they were full they could not have given us a room and we would not have been able to stay there.

My husband and I recently stayed at Robber's Roost - twice - once on the way up to our destination in Utah and once on the way back home. The price was too good to pass up. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to try it. So here's the scoop. You get a good night's sleep - the beds are very comfortable. If you're driving and have room in your vehicle, you may want to bring your own pillow. The towels are small, and the soaps, etc. are minimal so just be aware of that, too. We always take our own selections of shower soap and shampoo so we were in good shape. Remember this - the rooms are clean and quiet and the price is great.
The motel is family run - and the owners are very nice. If you call them directly you can get even a better price for your room than the one on the internet. They are pet friendly, but we were glad that there were rooms for those without pets, like us.
If you noticed on Trip Advisor that there were a few complaints about not having coffee in the room - there's a nice gas station right down the street with plenty of coffee. No worries. Each room has a very nice Amana heating and air conditioning unit - they looked like brand new. The t.v. sets are flat screen and very good, too.
This motel is easy access - on and off from the freeway, too.

Not sure how this place could have received ANY positive room ratings. For $56 we got a room that was barely tolerable. The room smelled so bad of pet urine that the only way we could stand it was to burn scented candles. The furnishings look like something picked up from a dump and bedspread was even stamped from a higher quality hotel down the street as if it were used by them about 10 years ago. Horrible beds, not enough towels and tiny bathroom. Stained and worn carpeting. Worse room we have ever stayed in and we are seasoned travelers.
