My family recently stayed in the Whispering Sands for one night on two different evening while hiking and camping in the Henry Mountains / Escalante / Capital Reef / Canyonlands area. All of my motel requirements were met: friendly staff, very clean rooms, great hot water, fair price, and comfortable beds. If you are in the area, you will be...

Friendly, pleasant place on the main road next to a gas station/market, and burger restaurant. Complimentary continental breakfast starts at 6 AM at the burger restaurant (Stan's Burger Shak) next door or you can go to Duke's Slickrock just a very short distance away and receive a discount on your cooked breakfast. Much busier than I thought it would be...

There are only two Motels in Hanksville and we chose this one as it had many more cars in the lot than the other hotel and we were glad we did. The Motel has been upgraded and was very clean and comfortable, the only problems being that one of the lamps over the bed did not have a switch (completely...

I had a wonderful time staying at Whispering Sands for a week when I was recently working in the town. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are large and well-equipped. The complimentary breakfast next door is a added bonus. I highly recommend staying at Whispering Sands Motel!

Whispering Sands is a small motel/hotel in an even smaller town so based on that I gave it a 4 - in fact for the town it's probably a 5. We were going to Little Wild Horse Canyon and Goblin State Park the next day and this was the closest place. The hotel was clean, reasonably priced, included continental breakfast....

My daughter and I went to the Capitol Reef park in Utah and decided we would head out to Hanksville to spend the night. With a population of about 300, I thought we wouldn't have a problem getting a spot at Whispering Sands, but I still figured I ought to call ahead to be safe. We got the last room!...

We have been coming out to Hanksville to dig at the Hanksville/Burpee Dinosaur Quarry for ten years now and depend on Whispering Sands as a comfy place to come back to. Each year it seems to get better. The staff is friendly and helpful too.

Let's make this easy. If you're going to stay in Hanksville, this is the hotel. We stayed in a "cabin" room (single story appendage to the main hotel). It was clean, organized, and most stuff worked fine. The staff is friendly and works hard to keep it a good place. That said, as far as we could tell, the heater...
