Clean Marriott Property with easy access to Highway and close by shopping. Stay is for business. Room was clean and spacious. Kitchenette with cooktop, toaster, coffee maker, and dishwasher. Breakfast available starting at 6:30 am. Decent choices from omelets, waffle maker, cereal, danishes and baked goods.

We were not told prior to booking that the pool was closed. It wasn't listed on their website & it wasn't mentioned when I called to ask questions either. The hallways to our suite were very beat up. We had a one bdrm suite & it was so beat up & dirty too. Talked to front desk & her excuse was it's 9 years old, well I've stayed at older hotels that were in much better shape. Room was dirty as well & for the price I would have at least expected clean. Parking was very limited with no handicapped parking available (only had 7 or spots). If you're a light sleeper know that there doesn't seem to be great sound barrier between the floors because it's after 10:30 & for the past hour all we've heard is loud walking about us.

Response from Jayson Alexander, General Manager at Residence Inn by Marriott Salt Lake City Murray
Responded Aug 31, 2023
Dear Neiss103, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, as it assists us in improving the stay for future guests. I do sincerely apologize your stay was not up to standards. The pool being closed was an unforeseen issue and I apologize it was not available while staying with us. I can understand how frustrating it must have been seeing that it was not available upon arrival. I have passed your review over to the leadership team and we will be looking into the other issues you mentioned as our priority is to always provide a safe and clean stay for all our guests. We hope to have you back when in the area so that we can provide you with the stay you deserve.

Our family of four (2 teens) stayed here 6 nights. Having a separate bedroom, suite style, made all the difference for us so we didn’t all have to go to bed at the same time for a full week. There was plenty of space for us to store our bags, but a luggage rack would have been helpful. A few more things that would have helped: more hangers in the closet, some hooks by the front door for jackets (had to go thru bedroom for closet), and a couple of “purse hooks” under the entryway shelf, a couple more towel hooks in the bath behind the door, and a hook or bar for a kitchen towel by the sink. Also, some usb charging ports are pretty much standard these days, and in our room could only be found on the bedroom clock. An additional comfortable chair in the tv space would be nice to fit a 4th person. We had to use the desk chair, not so great. The beds, blankets and pillows were very comfortable, and the room dark for sleep. We didn’t hear much outside noise, but the a/c-heat system had a loud hum and strong breeze. We found that even in winter we needed to keep it on a/c or the space would heat up overnight to the mid-70’s and become stuffy. The kitchen was quirky and pots for cooking were insufficient. I only cooked once. There was no pan for making eggs, just steep-sided sauté pots, but breakfast had eggs every day. I made my own one day when the eggs had cheese in them that I couldn’t eat. I washed everything by hand until the last day because with 4 people and 4 each glasses, mugs, plates, we ran out quickly. Breakfast was fantastic, with hot options and something for everyone, including bagels and pastries, bacon or sausage, waffle iron, oatmeal with toppings, fruit, snack bars, yogurt with additional toppings, sliced cheeses (even Brie!), cereal (mostly sugary varieties), I do appreciate the Udi’s gluten-free bagels every morning, and hand cut fresh fruit. I am celiac and never got sick from the food. It was a nice start to our day for skiing. The hot tub was a great apres-ski, with the pool for cooling off. The hot tub itself was large enough for two Mamini es and plenty hot. Towels were sparse and there never seemed to be any clean ones when we would go so we’d have to go to the desk to ask, a bit inconvenient walking around in a swimsuit. Our room was on the second floor a few doors from the entry, which was really convenient for us. We still had a nice view of the mountains. The rooms were generally quite clean, but our bathroom needed a deep clean. The metal trim was grimy and the wallpaper was coated in a layer of dust. Everything else was adequately clean but I noticed this right away and it really bugged me. However, it was not enough to reduce my rating. The hotel layout was logical and easy to navigate. Location was good, close to restaurants and Costco, 40-45 minutes from Snowbird/Alta, easy access to the freeway system, friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay! Will likely return.

We utilize this hotel several times a month for business. We have a corporate rate with them and fill out a cc authorization for each visit so that employees are not expected to utilize their own credit cards. This is the second time an employee has been unable to check in as they have been unable to find the cc authorization, resulting in double payment. The staff was extremely rude to our employee when he pulled up his confirmation email and asked for more detail on what he needed so he could retrieve that from our company. She responded with extreme and uncalled for attitude. I’ll never send another employee to this establishment - we will be seeking hospitality with another hotel that practices good hospitality and customer service.

Great location for ski trips - but needs to do much better. First off - breakfast is BUSY - staff and friends come in - causing quite a line - during the busy time. When we finally had to request a clean of room (after 5 days) they came and took all the towels but left us with none....., no refill of liquid soap & shower in pool area doesn't work. We tried to talk to cleaners about towels but they didn't speak a word of English - which is rather unsettling....

Response from Jayson Alexander, General Manager at Residence Inn by Marriott Salt Lake City Murray
Responded Dec 30, 2022
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments and for choosing to stay with us while in the area. We strive to provide a great stay for all our guests and your experience was below the standards in which we try so hard to uphold. I apologize it was not a great stay and management will be looking into the issues you encountered in hopes to rectify them. Please know the housekeeping staff regardless of which language they might speak work just as hard to uphold the Marriott standards to take care of all our guests. We hope to have you with us again when in the area so that we can provide you with the stay you deserve.

Reservation on Marriott site made Nov 12, 2022, for 2 bedroom suite Dec 28- Jan 1. 2 adults, 2 pre-teen children. Informed at check-in that room was not available, and not even any rooms with 2 beds. "I apologize for your inconvenience." "A reservation is not a guarantee the room will be available". Only option? Two separate, not-connected, studio units with 1 bed in each. Great family vacation, screwed up ON THE DAY OF CHECK-IN!

I was leery staying here to begin with after reading some of the reviews, but it was close to where my daughter moved so we decided to take a chance and booked 2 nights here in a room on the 3rd floor with a king bed and sofa sleeper. Upon arrival and checking in we decided to stay a third night. The room was nice and clean. The bed was a little firmer than what I would have liked. I would love to see hotels maybe offer a memory foam topper for people who like their beds a little softer. The room and bathroom were clean and quiet. Breakfasts were good, different every day we were there, however the breakfast time needs to be longer, 6-9am is not long enough. The front desk staff were friendly. The pool area was nice, towels were provided there. The only thing that was bothered us were the windows needed to be cleaned, on the outside, but overall we would definitely stay here again.

Having a kitchen is the reason why we stay at Residence Inn Upon arrival there was a puddle in the bathroom due to a faucet leak. Asked for maintenance and told 8AM the next morning. Asked for more towels as we used them to clean up the mess and to stop the faucet from leaking onto the floor As promised, a maintenance person showed up. Showed him the faucet and he said he would be back later ‘to tighten it up’ When we returned later that day, the leak was not fixed. We requested a new room. No problem This rating is based on the sad and drab decor of the rooms and hallways. A chair in the kitchen was badly damaged. The rugs in the room and in the hallways were frayed and should be replaced Told housekeeping came every other day…..no problem until they did not show for 2 days. Asked if I wanted a light cleaning or a full clean…? Told them we were leaving in 2 days and they could decide. The staff were friendly, courteous and accommodating. Would not recommend

My family stayed at this hotel. We found the staff to be professional and friendly. The breakfast was done very well each of the three days we were there. Our room was clean with the exception of finding a random black sock in the corner of the bedroom. The bed was comfortable. Our stay for the most part was excellent. The question now is would we come back to stay at this hotel? Most likely no because it is far from most of the things we do in Salt Lake City.
