This hotel is first rate, the rooms, the service, the amenities, etc. We felt so pampered! The rooms are clean and fresh, the staff is caring. We did the complimentary hike one day and loved it. We went bowling and our son had a blast!

From start to finish we had the best experience here! The Montage Deer Valley’s staff created a (covid-safe) wonderful environment where our expectations were not just met but anticipated.
What started as impromptu stop on our roadtrip ended up being the highlight of our entire trip and I already want to go back!
The property is breathtaking and has so much to offer even during “covid” and because of the staff’s attention to detail and housekeeping’s attention to cleanliness we felt very safe during our stay.
We were welcomed by a big smile (Deja) who personally escorted us to our suite (mask on and appropriately distanced from us) and gave us all the “tidbits” that made our stay more comfortable and relaxing. When reserving our room I mentioned I'm a big coffee drinker so they left a coffee pot in my room and brought me up fresh cream and kept my coffee supply replenished.

We were able to take advantage of all the hotel had to offer hiking/biking, tetherball, pool, jacuzzi, games, s’mores!!!! by the fire!, chocolate melt in your mouth bonbons, and so much more. While doing all of that the staff in every department were so attentive, safely distanced and made us so comfortable by being actually present and aware of our needs. For example the morning pool service gentleman not only brought us our yummy drinks and delicious meal, he also shared some good insight on the local must see places and then wrote down the places I was questioning him about.

We were even able to borrow a gorgeous Cadillac to explore the surrounding city and were greeted and assisted by Chad and Cord (great guys) who both made it easy for us to come and go. I appreciated the extra attention like when I was eating s’mores (oh happy day) by the fire and a lovely woman brought me a warm blanket because I was shivering which made my night perfect.

Unfortunately I left behind all of the boxes of bonbons I purchased for gifts including my favorite “Veuve Clicquot” flavored ones! I called to rescue my bonbons and it was too late but Ryan the director was so gracious that he replaced and shipped them to my home! Great service!!! So when you do stay here don’t forget your bonbons when you leave! Much gratitude to all the staff that made my stay here unforgettable.

We had a fantastic experience at the Montage. The property itself is stunning. The service was top-notch, and we felt like royalty during our stay. The staff were consistently friendly and efficient. They also paid lots of attention to our french bulldog, and several members of the valet team even learned his name! We rented our ski equipment from the hotel and were extremely impressed with how easy and seamless it was. Fausto in the ski shop was a gem. He expertly fitted us and checked in with us multiple times throughout our trip to make sure that everything was still perfect. The boots came out heated each morning, which was a luxury we didn’t know we needed. Ski in-ski out was a breeze, as the resort is adjacent to 2 express lifts. The skiing itself was phenomenal, with a great variety of runs and beautiful views. We had most of our meals at the resort and were particularly impressed with the room service, which came with multiple nice touches including a mobile table to eat on and a click button to alert staff when we were done. We ate our last night dinner at Apex, which was stellar as well. The amenities were also excellent. The gym was spotless and well-equipped. We got a couples’ massage at the spa, which was wonderful. We easily could have stayed longer. Overall, we absolutely loved our vacation, and can’t wait to return!

This was our third visit to the Montage and seventh to Deer Valley.

The Montage is a monster of a hotel. Restaurants, hallways that go on forever and a great apre ski atmosphere. The hotel has an AMAZING location.

But I won't stay here again. It's just not worth the aggravation for the $$.
The staff are sweet 20 somethings from South America but they are kids who can not provide 5 star service. Every day our (owned, not rented) gear was placed with a "group" which meant that we had to wait another 10-15 minutes to find our stuff. we were told we sat in the wrong area to change into our boots even though there is and has never been signage stating that one area of the room is only for groups.
10-15 minutes for working people trying to enjoy a rare ski day is frustrating.

The restaurant staff at Apex for breakfast are a disaster. It's a buffet but you still can't find anyone to bring you a coffee or even a bill! The coffee is horrible (go to the bar in the lounge area instead) and get ready to wait 10 minutes for an egg. the chef today took a good 10 minutes to make sunny side up eggs b/c she kept breaking the yolk.

Also, if you get a room in the 200s know that you are on the bottom level with very little view. 269 felt like a dungeon and it smelled. The hotel was nice though and moved us once a new room became available.

Also to note is that Deer Valley is not the same as it used to be. It's crowded and not as luxurious. It has lost its sparkle.

One last complaint is that the staff selling tickets in the montage are clueless. They successfully sold us tickets for the wrong day which we didn't realize until we were at the lift... and then acted like we had asked too many questions during the transaction so it distracted them.

stay here only for the location or if you like a scene and care that people will think you are "cool" staying Montage at Deer Valley.

If you want 5 star service - it's not here.

I would not stay here again unless I had been assured the service culture had significantly improved.

We arrived at the hotel and waited at the front desk with no one there attending. After four or five minutes and valet person noticed and asked us if we had been helped. He went to the back and got someone to check us in.

We were kindly upgraded which we appreciated. The front desk person then walked with us to the elevator, rode it with us, and then escorted us to our room and came inside to give us a tour. While she had a mask on it seemed especially out of place during this time of concern about Covid.

This was so far from appropriate during Covid it was a bit surprising for a luxury chain.

In comparison we stayed a month earlier at a Ritz in Jackson Hole to find amazing respect for the situation we are in with all sorts of protocols to help keep everyone safe.

The rooms were well appointed and in an updated mountain decor.

Room service was lacking in our opinion. They seemed unprepared to help us with a late night order. A hotel of this size charging what they do can do better than jalapeño chips at 11:55pm as the only thing they could offer. Once again - compare this to any other similar brand such as Ritz or Four Seasons and the service culture difference is dramatic.

Room service orders were incorrect at other times as well, even after the employee repeated the order.

Finally, our housekeeper was not wearing a mask in our room when we came back one day. She had one but wasn’t wearing it. I expected more of an effort on their part to maintain a protocol we could count on.

I don’t know where to begin to describe the horrible experience we had at Montage Deer Valley. I am frankly shocked it has a montage name as it felt more like a Holiday Inn. The service was absolutely atrocious, or better yet, non existent. Rooms were never cleaned, and after asking a half dozen times they sent staff that didn’t know how to make a bed, let alone clean the room. I have never been to such a bad “5 star” hotel in my life. Over the Easter holiday the hotel was too cheap to hire staff for double over time so there was no one to help. Upon check out the staff wouldn’t ask if we enjoyed our stay since they knew the answer. I would never stay at this hotel again, and frankly I will be hesitant to stay at any montage ever again.

Our stay was a gift from our employer, and were so excited to finally visit the Montage. We have driven by many times, but could only speculate what a wonderful stay there might be. We called the Montage two days prior to our stay and requested a room on an upper level for the fabulous views we knew the property would afford. We were told that request would be granted, as they were only at 50% covid capacity and the purchased room was a 'Vista View Room'. We we arrived right at check in time, and we again requested a view from a high floor. We were told we were indeed in a Vista King Room, but we were assigned room 422, which is ground level, no balcony, only a small porch, with trees also ground level
blocking all views. Before even unpacking, we returned to the front desk to again request a room with a view and we were told by an unfriendly and unaccommodating front desk agent that there was nothing available to be moved into. This clearly was not the case, as the 50% capacity was not even close. At night there were very few rooms with any lights on and the property was like a ghost town. No one at either pool we swam at and only a few couples in the restaurant. So we were stuck in our Vista View Room with no vista. So we tried to make the best of it and later that evening turned on the fireplace and nothing but a blue streak of light/fire. Again, very disappointed.

The other problem with our location was the accessibility to reach the room. The main lobby is on Floor 5. Cannot reach floor 4 without going up to floor 6, walking down a very long hallway, taking another elevator to the 4th floor, then another long hallway to our room. We definitely felt like we were in the basement in the extra wing of the property, which is exactly where we were staying. At check in, we were escorted to our room, and then learned that was necessary, otherwise it would have been impossible to find on our own. During the few times we ventured out to explore the property, we got disorientated and lost and had difficulty finding our way back to our room.

On the positive side, the room, minus the non working fireplace, was very nice and comfortable. Loved the heated tile floor, walk in closet and big bathroom.

I work in the travel industry and often have the opportunity to recommend properties to clients for their travel needs. Based on our experience and the high cost of the stay, I will never recommend this property to any of my clients based on the above experience.

I stayed at the Montage Deer Valley last week with my husband and 2 children and had a horrible experience. The room service there was terrible. They never showed up unless you asked 15 times and when they did finally show up it was always 3 hours after you asked for it. My husband shaved on Friday in the sink and it was still in the sink on Sunday. I took a bath and the bathtub was not cleaned for 3 days after. They took my clothing that was on the couch and rolled it in a ball and threw it in the closet. I asked them to take out the garbage and they left it in middle of my room in a paper garbage bag and it leaked everywhere. My son hit his head on the door and got a huge bump and it took them 45 minutes to bring up ice for him (which is after I called down twice to see why it was taking so long). The customer service was so horrible that when I told the front desk about my experience the woman shrugged her shoulders but did nothing about it. In my 11 days staying there they vacuumed my room maybe 2 times. They didn’t replenish the body wash- they just re closed old basically empty ones and left them on the counter. They didn’t clean the shower or give new towels unless I specially asked (and had to re ask multiple times until they finally sent). It was a disgrace how they cleaned the rooms. My 4 year old son could make a better bed. Houskeeping was so bad that they continuously left their cleaning supplies and rags in our room in random places. They left their poisonous spray bottle and my son almost tired to spray it in his mouth. The Compass which is the ski rental place in the basement was terrible as well. They mis-sized my boots and gave me a broken boot with warped plastic. It cut into my skin and I had terrible bruises and cuts from them. It got so bad that I could not ski as my cuts hurt so much. I had to waste all the money from my private ski lessons that were non refundable. Overall, the experience throughout the hotel was abysmal. The staff was not experienced nor friendly nor helpful. I would definitely advise to stay anywhere else besides the Montage. I think I would have had a better experience at a hostel. Consider this a warning if you want to book the Montage at Deer valley.
If anyone at the Montage Deer Valley is reading this I would love to discuss my horrible experience further...

Room service offered a cauliflower soup but failed to mention it included shrimp (what the actual hell?) when listing off the ingredients. Business partner is severely allergic to shellfish and currently throwing up in the bathroom. Shellfish, nuts, and other common severe allergies should 100% be highlighted to guests. This could actually kill someone someday. Please correct immediately.

Having spent a glorious ten days at the Montage Deer Valley, we enthusiastically recommend this resort. We are frequent travelers and stay at many luxury properties around the world. We were beyond thrilled to have our travel agent book us at the Montage. It exceeded any and all expectations in terms of hospitality, comfort, luxury, and safety. The grounds were well maintained and enjoyable, the dining was delicious and remarkable, and the rooms were spotless and comfortable. The most important part of our stay to note was the professional, courteous, and welcoming staff. The staff makes this resort phenomenal. Starting with the General Manager, Joseph, we have never in all our travels encountered such enthusiastic and ever present GM. We saw him on a daily basis, and he always asked about our stay and our needs. He demonstrated leadership at its best. From interacting and helping his staff to helping disinfect common areas of the hotel, he showed he would do anything necessary to give his guests a wonderful experience and his staff the support they need. In addition, we would like to thank all those who made our stay memorable, Cristina, Alex, TJ, Kara, Jordan, Jerry, Cassie, James, Wayne, Breanna, Dave, and the many others. We are looking forward to our next return this winter.
