We have stayed at the Highland Lodge several times in summer & winter over the past two years and still cannot agree on which season we like best. Caspian Lake is a lovely small lake and the bicycling in the area is fantastic. During the winter, the point to point ski from the Lodge to Craftbury is the best in... More

The Highland Lodge is worth a visit - or many - regardless of season. In winter, stay in a cozy room and ski the magnificently groomed nordic ski trails all the way to Craftsbury Outdoor Center. My husband and I agreed that it might be New England's most gorgeous ski trail. When there isn't snow (like last year) you can... More

My wife's family started vacationing at Highland Lodge years ago. The other reviews mention the amenities, which are many. S' mores on the beach, blonde brownies and the meals will always be the fondest memories. The meals are more casual now as families make their own in the well equipped kitchen. A run around the lake is a good for... More

Spent another wonderful week with our Highland lodge family (people we met years ago at the Lodge and have made the commitment to meet each other same time and place for the past many years). Our kids have gone from toddlers to college graduates over those years!. This is a special place...not fancy...not a place for tee shirts, board walk... More

The lake is nothing overly special. Not large, and there aren't any coves or inlets to really explore, but the Highland Lodge is open until the Fall, and I rented a cottage overlooking the lake for a night, while I was in Greensboro exploring the place where Wallace Stegner wrote "Crossing To Safety". The Lodge and the property are for... More

Our family has been coming to the Highland Lodge for over 25 years (was a stop on our honeymoon 2 week tour of Vt country Inns). The format of the Inn changed a couple of years ago when they went from breakfast and dinners included to providing no meal services. We met a group of families at the Inn years... More

The place is quite unique (at least for someone from outside of Vermont). They are apparently selling it out but it still operates and is quite popular (aug 2013). It is quite expensive (150 USD/night for a modest small cottage, more later) but have many nice things that might compensate the price, for some people. A beautiful location with lake... More

a wonderful place, a family run business, kind staff and friends who have been there for many years. Sadly this is the end...due to the economy the Highland Lodge has taken it's toll and closed in October. We locals are sad to loose such a vibrant place that has been part of this community for so long. But also wishes... More

We have stayed here over 20 times as a family. It is "heaven". The setting is a tiny village with a general store about 1 1/2 miles away and the lodge overlooks a pristine spring fed lake (Caspian Lake). The summer camps (homes) around the lake originated in the 1890s when academics from Philadelphia primarily settled there for their summers.... More

The lodge was wonderful. The people were very helpful and kind. Our room was cozy and beautiful. The food was included and was excellent. The skiing was the best I have done in a while. Great trails and great snow!

“The cottages have great views, but can be a little rowdy. The rooms looked stuffy, but appeared to be the quieter option. Bring your own food, or buy it at Wiley's General Store. The nearest restaurant is in Hardwick, about 10 minutes away.”

“we stay in cabin #2 (two bedrooms and bath with kitchenette and living area with woodstove). We have also stayed in room 28, queen bed and twin, full bath. Faces road with some road noise but this rural Vt., surely not a big issue. They also have a first floor handicap accessible room where we've stayed with walk in shower, full bed with small sitting area.”
