Nestled in a picturesque Vermont setting, Smugglers' Notch Resort boasts a central location that's ideal for family adventures, as noted by many travelers. The resort's amenities, including diverse pools and activities, earn high marks from guests, as does the friendly service from a welcoming staff. While the resort maintains high standards of cleanliness and offers a cozy atmosphere, some guests caution about the additional fees impacting the overall value. Although the rooms are spacious and well-appointed, a few visitors suggest they could benefit from modern updates.

We enjoyed our stay At Smugglers Notch. It Our 3 bedroom unit was very clean, comfortable although outdated in appearance. We had a box of Maple cookies in our unit to welcome us! Thank you! So delicious!

Smuggler’s notch is a complete package. Starting from when you drive up the mountain, you start from jeffersonville and approach the resort it is a nice drive with lots of things to do that is very local and down to earth. Check in is easy with a centralized location and them providing a map of the area and things to do. Then you can get out to your room.

Fortunately, I won the lottery of life and got Villamarkuta room 11, probably the best room in the resort. A small creek runs next to it and makes for an amazing morning and evening view. The beds are comfortable, there are a lot of beds, in this room setup there were seven different bed spaces. The bathrooms have warmers in them and the kitchen area is a full setup with refrigerator, lots of silverware, and a full oven.

Then you have the slopes and amenities. Everything is within walking distance and there is lots to do. From the pool, FunZ one 2.0, snowshoeing, and that is before you hit the slopes. We were able to take the maple syrup tour and it was amazing to learn about the way syrup is harvested and made!

The place is relaxing, no planes, No trucks, so quiet and served as a great get away for a few days from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We are Wyndham owners here at Smugglers' Notch and have stayed in the North Hills area where the views are spectacular! Park, we use the on demand shuttle to get around the resort. We generally stay in a Presidential or Presidential Reserve unit with upgraded amenities (Aveda products) and appliances. The units are spacious and are generally quiet. It has a full kitchen will plenty of place settings and cookware. The starter kit includes coffee, creamer, sugar and sugar substitutes, teas, hot chocolate, salt and pepper. The unit had full sized washer and dryer. Because we were booked for a full week, we got a clean and tidy mid week.
The master bathroom had a jacuzzi tub in addition to a shower. One guest rooms had 2 double beds, and the other guest room had a king bed and own bathroom with shower. There is one more bathroom with a tub & shower. Each bedroom had a tv. The living room had a tv and fireplace and plenty of places to sit. There are many activities available at the resort. We were there basically for skiing and the snow gods gave us fresh snow for 3 days. We were gifted massages and discovered a hidden gem with Attilio who gave me the best massage I have ever encountered. He calls himself a healer, and I believe he is just that! My husband, an advanced skier (trees, bumps and steeps), took a lesson and picked up a few pointers. Had a few apres ski (hop-raise) beers at the Morse Mt Grille, Bootleggers with Jammin' Sam before dinner at the Hearth & Candle Restaurant. We also had a meal in town at the Village Tavern. And don't miss 158 Main Restaurant & Bakery!!!
There are many pools and recreation areas around. We did not use any of these this trip, but have in the past. There are many units that are not Wyndham owned but are available to be rented. Because of the size of this resort, it would be a good place for a large reunion with plenty to do!

After we had to cancel our Hilton Head trip due to COVID, we were excited to visit Smugglers Notch for our family of 5 trip.

Their website showed numerous steps they took to keep everything clean, everyone safe, etc.

When we arrived around 5 pm, our first impression was that the room was lovely and that the view was terrific.

Upon further inspection of the room, it turned out that the garbage was not emptied and their was a dirty swim diaper left out by the back porch. We called management since a few items made us wonder how thoroughly the whole room was cleaned, especially during these times.

After a bit, they told us they would call back with a comparable room. They gave us a room further away without the same view but we did it since that was our only option. When asked if they could clean our room properly, they said the cleaning crew already left for the day. When my wife and daughter opened the door to our new room, they found a young couple who were just as shocked as us to see one another. It turns out we were given keys that worked to a room already having guests! So we went back to the lobby, gave them our perishables and water that would get hot sitting in the car even longer and decided to eat while they figured out what to do with us. They did give us a coupon for free dinner due to "Room Chaos" (what the description said). After dinner, we did get to another room that was not similar to our initial room. They said they would clean our original room so we can move back in the morning.

We were told if we wanted a golf cart, the best they could do was provide it at 50% (although they weren't sure the cost since is a different group that rents it out). At the end of the day, I asked if we could get one and the gentleman from the front desk said they were gone and we had to come back at 9 am (which we did). The cost is $100 for a 4 passenger for the day (so we thought would pay $50). They also said they would waive the resorts fees and give us Smuggs passes (gives access to top floor of Fun Zone and pools other than local one).

When we got the bill, we were charged full price for the rental - now $50 won't make or break us, but the principle of being told one thing and finding another after the fact is what's upsetting. They felt they had done enough for us and so them telling us the 50% rental was no longer valid (despite no one telling us that).

Our feeling was that with a portion of activities available due to COVID 19, multiple room jumps (which cost us our first opportunities at Smugglers), these were not unreasonable concessions for the inconvenience and shortened experiences. They did not agree.

We felt it was important to provide this feedback. We may revisit after COVID 19 concerns are better in this world and the resort has all their pools, experiences, etc. up and running again. Most workers, lifeguards, food service workers, drivers, etc. were very friendly and accommodating. We did not appreciate leaving on a sour note and have our feelings about our initial experience minimalized by those who did not personally experience it.

We read a lot of reviews of Smugglers Notch as a great family resort so we booked a condo and headed to Vermont!

First Impression of the condo we rented ( Riverside Building) was it was built in the 70’s or 80’s without much updating done since. We prefer renting places vs hotels to allow for more space for our family ( 2 teen age boys).
Everything in the unit was in good working order and clean, it was just dated and felt like an old beach rental or cabin rental that gets minimal love and updating. ( To be fair, the Tv’s were all updated and wall mounted flat panels and the wifi was resort supplied and worked very well for us the whole time)
The only real issue in visiting here in August was the air conditioning. The 2 bedroom unit only had 2 window units ( 1 in each bedroom) to cool the entire condo. Fortunately they worked fine and would turn the bedrooms into a very cool room if that’s what you prefer. We leveraged those units during the day by leaving the bedroom doors open while we were away to cool off the living room and the kitchen for when we returned after dinner. That worked and it made it so the LR and Kitchen were comfortable, but still not “cooled off”. If you did not do this, the common areas would be too warm to be comfortable to spend any time in.

As far as the rest of the resort, the staff was super friendly and very helpful. The shared resort facilities were all very nice, modern and well kept. If you want a place to go to keep your kids busy all day participating in structured fun to actual day camps, or just things to do on their own - this may be your place. (From pools with slides and and poolside activities, seasonal festival’s, climbing walls, arcades, real arena laser tag, putt putt, nature trails, mountain biking l, hiking, creeks to explore, basketball, volleyball and all types of organized activities for kids and families alike)

For us, we also wanted to venture out and see the area - Stowe, local waterfalls, peaks and mountain tops, etc) so the rental fees per night at Smugglers Notch were a bit high compared to other local lodging that did not have the additional cost of the shared facilities and added staff to man this family day camp.

Overall we had a nice time and enjoyed our stay and all that we did while staying here. Will we return to Smugglers? No. Our next trip to the area we will look to stay somewhere on the Stowe side of the mountain - which we found ourselves going to most days we went out venturing. That side of the mountain offers more choices in food, shopping and appeared to have many modern and updated places to stay as well as easy access to the many standout places to see courtesy of Mother nature.

Thank you for the review and feedback, this is very helpful. For more updated accommodations, we do have two and three bedroom premium lodging. Those have amenities like granite countertops, stainless appliances, private pools just for those communities and whirlpool tubs. It would be great to have you back in one of our premiums if do do make it to Vermont again. We are very happy to hear the staff was so friendly and helpful and you enjoyed the Smuggs amenities.

Smugglers notch is a beautiful facility. We stayed in an Owls Presidential 3 bedroom. The room was recently renovated and extremely spacious. Please be aware due to Covid reservations are required to use all pools (except those exclusive to Owls and the Aquatic center. Then indoor part of the aquatic center is also closed. It would be nice if we were told this ahead of time. The rates should be adjusted to reflect the facilities that are available at this time.

not happen. We were forced to make an appointment to get a refresher course in timeshares. That was quickly cancelled by me after I received the key. The room that we were given was 1/2 mile passed the main building. Our room was 3 flights up and middle of the building. This was not a good situation to carry many bags and groceries without an elevator for a man over 70 years old, to maneuver. There was not a single person besides us in that building when we arrived. We only saw a hand full of cars over the next few days. Upon arrival to our room the lights at the night stands did not work. We called the front desk and reported it. We tried the switches on the walls and lamps and made sure that they were plugged in. Maintenance came in and was totally annoyed over this. It ended up being both light bulbs were burned out. A good amount of snow fell over night. The walkways were not shoveled until well after noon. We were not prepared for that amount of snow so it was difficult to get to our vehicle without boots. Outdoor pool was open for us to use in November! There was a sign up saying "closed", due to maintenance. Why bother? Apparently there was an indoor pool but we were too far away from it and were told that you had to pay an additional "key" fee on top of the "resort" fee to use that. The room was very nice, spacious and spotless. The kitchen was well stocked with most of the supplies that you would need. A few items such as a vegetable peeler and cutting board were not amongst the supplies. A pressure cooker, crock pot and blender were available in the kitchen. We spent most of our time off the resort enjoying the many beautiful areas of Vermont. COVID was a huge factor as many things were limited. A day trip via ferry to Lake Placid was a lovely experience.

Thank you for the review and feedback. We will certainly work through this off-season to rectify those items. Our outdoor community pools are open year-round with heated decks and water temperatures in the high 80s typically. We'd love to have to try it out next time around and hope for a relaxing turn around for you.

While this is a wonderful resort in a fabulous area and has so many on-site activities and opportunities, they have gone too far in charging for them. They provide almost nothing free of charge. Not even DVDs like other resorts for when the weather is bad. We were unhappy with the excessive and exorbitant charges and think they should return to providing at least some services complimentary to those who are staying at the resort. $800 for access to the pools and on-site activities for our group for the week? No thank you. We left the resort instead and gave that money to other local attractions. They also charged a $45 cleaning/service fee upon departure. On top of that, the beds were uncomfortable, there were no towels for the lone pool we could go to and they mostly didn't answer the phone if we tried to call the front desk. We visited nine years ago and loved it here because they actually let you take advantage of the attractions as their guests. We would not return.

Thank you for your review and feedback. The fees at Smuggs depend on the guest type so if you are renting through a 3rd party like Airbnb or VRBO nothing will be included. If you book directly through Smugglers' everything is included in the package. It can be confusing to some guests but this is a good forum to explain that renting through a private owner or different company is no different than staying off-site as far as amenity access is concerned. This coming winter in fact, guests will only have guaranteed access to skiing if they book directly with Smugglers Notch Resort.

We continue to stay at Smugglers Notch Resort for skiing two to three weeks a year.
We have stayed for many years and the quality of our yearly experience is always well satisfied.
The apartments are well appointed and well supplied with all of our needs.
The overall facility is well maintained and the shuttle buses negate the need to use your car while staying at the resort.

Hit Smuggs during a perfect snowy week. The shuttle service to the village and ability to ski or snow show right out your front door if you are in a unit on the slopes, like we were, sets Smuggs apart

If you have the ability to bring your own food to cook, do so, the units are very well stocked with all the equipment you need. Two “local “ General stores can keep you in good provisions including nice meats at an ok price and the site store, while more expensive, has what you need if you forgot something . We were not happy with the top restaurant on site.extremely high cost would have been fine given the venue, if great food, but it wasn’t. Service and ambiance were great
Our extended family of all ages all had a great time in a comfortable, clean three bedroom unit with a fireplace for a winter vacation and will definitely be back
