Detailed Reviews
We spent the weekend at Cascades and were pleased overall. The owners and staff were all pleasant, always saying goodmorning or goodnight to us with a smile and always asking how our day went. The breakfast was great (and complimentary with our room to boot). Our only complaint was that the room was a bit outdated. When you've been skiing all day and your muscles and mind are sore, you really need a comfortable and cozy room to unwind: Plush area rug, thick soft comforter, big cushy couch for examples. Our room did not have those things. Since the owners were so nice, we hope they read this and invest a substantial portion of their future income into refurbishing the rooms. They will be rewarded.

We booked a mid-week ski and stay package through Killington in late January 2011. We chose Cascades Lodge as it appeared that they had everything that we were looking for. We wanted a hot tub, an on-site restaurant / pub and a lounge with a fireplace. On our first day we drove directly to the mountain and skiied prior to checking in. The temperature was 6 below zero but we were prepared and had a great day. After skiing we went to check in. The location is perfect as it is about 200 yards from the lodge and lifts. We got a room on the lower level. The room had two full size beds, a refrigerator, a small table with two chairs and a TV. It was somewhat rustic with a sliding glass door and you could hear people walking around upstairs. We went to the hot tub and indoor pool, which weren't bad. They were clean and after a day of skiing felt great. After showering we headed down to the pub only to find out that they only have a bartender on weekends. The guy at check-in offered to pour us a beer, which he did but we were somewhat dissappointed that the pub wasn't going to be open during our stay. The story was the same for the restaurant (only open on weekends) except for breakfast. After going out for dinner we retired to our room. The room was pretty cold and there wasn't any way to adjust the heat. We are used to the cold and keep our house at 60 degrees at night in the winter but this was cold. the temp. outside got down to about 20 below and we ended up stacking our bags in front of the sliding glass door and combining all of the covers from both beds onto one to keep warm. When we got up in the morning there was snow inside the room by the sliding door and it was closed. We mentioned it to the lady at the desk in the morning and she said we should have called. They have space heaters, and she brought one to our room. That did the trick and the rest of trip was enjoyable.
In summary the good things were the location, the hot tub, the breakfast. The bad things were rustic accomodations and not all advertised ammenities were open during the week.

The hotel is typical for the area but the staff is extremely friendly and courteous. The room was clean and quite large. The inside pool is huge and the hotub very enjoyable. The bar is cosy and the barmaid was very helpful with different information. Would stay here again!

Poorly managed property. Let’s leave it here. Rooms needs renovations, no restaurant and the owner and showed little interest in helping the guests. I had very good memory of the place 15 years ago when I used to take whole family to Killington every season. The location is the only good thing I can say about this place this time. I sincerely hope it is getting better.

Terrible water, terrible tv’s, terrible beds, terrible food, and the staff are extremely rude and disrespectful. Wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me. The only good thing is it is somewhat close to the mountain but there are plenty of other better options.

I got pretty much what I expected from this hotel which is, as others have noted, extremely shabby and outdated. The room was comfortable enough, and the location was good. Ridiculously overpriced, but I did stay over New Year’s. But what really is unacceptable is their water. It is so over treated with salt, it is undrinkable. I literally gagged. And, since they use the same water to make their coffee, the coffee is disgusting. If you stay here, be sure to bring your own bottled water.

We have a small ski club and take several trips every year. The Cascades came recommended for what it is, a clean property located close to the mountain. The mountain shuttle picked us up and dropped us off at the lodge. The breakfast was exactly as described. I recommend visiting the bar when open. We knew about the water coming from a well with high minerals. This property served our needs well and never represented itself as something it wasn't.

I've been a loyal guest at The Cascades Lodge for about 10 years now. It is my families home away from home. We just returned after our third stay this year. We had a wonderful time. We love the cozy immaculately clean rooms, the great breakfast, and the staff who make us feel like family. Thanks for all the great service past and present......great job!

I am not sure who is writing the other comments on here because they can't be about this Lodge. The place was every dirty, room was smelly, and they tried to overcharge us. The pool was icky.
When yu are away skiing, you want a warm, relaxing place to stay, not be given a hard time the staff and have allergies in your smelly room.
Will never go back.

We stayed at The Cascades Lodge for four nights over President's week. There were four of us...all adult size. When I booked, I was told the room was quite large with plenty of room for four. We asked for a pet-friendly room, which is something they advertise as being available. For the money we paid, we were very disappointed. The rooms were either too hot or freezing cold. The water pressure was poor, and the room was barely big enough for the four us. While the place was clean, everything in it was very outdated and old. The restaurant was the most updated area of the hotel. The "spacious lobby" was a small corner with room to seat 5 people. We had read that the beds were comfortable, but anyone who has been in a halfway decent hotel in the past couple of years knows that more plush mattresses are the norm. There were absolutely no extras, like a gift shop, or vending machines. The pool was nice, as was the hot tub. The breakfast each morning was passable, but 3 out of the 4 mornings the food was barely lukewarm. We were constantly bombarded from above with loud booms...you could here the people walking in the room above, as well as everyone going up and down the stairs.
All in all, the Cascades Lodge was an old lodge with not much to do. I don't believe it has been updated in many, many years. When we return to Killington, we will absolutely NOT stay here,a s there are several other, nicer options available at a comparable price.
