When we were looking to spend a couple days in Vermont the beginning of this month, we were put off by the room rates we were finding. That is, until we found Snowden Chalet Motel. Their room rates combined with photos and room descriptions convinced us they were worth a look. Their extensive list of policies and restrictions, and the reasons for them, were a delight to read and made the place even more appealing to us! They were equally focused on guest comfort and protecting the property.
The owner Jen came across to us on a brief phone call as being genuine and friendly, an impression that was confirmed when we met her.
We had a very relaxed and pleasant two-night stay in a spacious room with a king bed, microwave and a small refrigerator with a real freezer. The bathroom was small but had enough shelves that we could have our toiletries out and in hand's reach. Water pressure was good and we never had an issue with hot water.
The room was thoughtfully furnished with a small table and 2 chairs for eating at, plus 2 upholstered chairs for relaxing and reading.
Jen and Dom are genuine, friendly, approachable and accommodating.
We will happily stay here again!

I recently stayed at the Snowden Chalet during a spontaneous road trip with my Dad. The location was perfect for us as we wanted to visit a family friend who lives in Weston so this location was perfect. My Dad called enroute and was able to secure a reservation over the phone without difficulty. We would be arriving after midnight which was not a problem thank goodness as another property in the area requested check in no later than 9 pm. This hotel is a family owned small business so I feel they appreciated us booking directly through them and they were able to honor a AAA discount. We arrived to a quiet and clean room with 2 double beds and a refrigerator was an added bonus. There was a coffee maker and minimal toiletries in the bathroom. I forgot hair conditioner and the hotel only supplied shampoo but wasn’t a big deal. My favorite part of our brief stay was the brown bag breakfast delivery and carafe of hot coffee delivered outside our room. The coffee was delicious and the continental breakfast was the perfect start for our day. There was a nice chair and sitting area outside our room to enjoy breakfast and parking right outside the room making it easy to unload and load the car. You can tell the owners have put a lot of work into making their place a happy place to visit. I loved the art on the wall and uniqueness of the property. I would definitely recommend a stop if you are road tripping through.

I stayed two nights recently when friends were too full for me to land with them as planned. I'd been by it for years; never tried before.

1. They're very clear about their policies, and while at first it gave me pause as to whether I'd be tiptoing on egg shells, it was fine. The clarity is great; let's everyone know how they roll and what to expect. They're quite clear about not tolerating noise late into evening/night; that's important to me.

2. Super friendly and helpful in person. Jen was a delight to deal and chat with.

3. Almost impeccably clean room and bath.

4. Continental breakfast not bad. Coffee was decent strength and drinkable; I'm a high-maintenance coffee snob, and this was good enough for me for a motel. Breakfast cereals, english muffins, some assorted other baked stuff, and instant oatmeal. Also some fruit. I prefer a hot breakie, but this was as advertised.

5. Rooms have satellite TV, a microwave, and a small fridge.

6. It was quiet! Two of the quietest nights I've experienced in a motel/hotel setting in awhile. I did hear next door or down the way neighbors banging doors or something a few times, but it was brief and not too late. Can't complain.

I recommend, and I shall return.

In this part of Vermont, there are not many reasonable priced options for lodging except for this retro motel. Normally, we would have driven right by this place but after reading the reviews we decided to try it and were happily not disappointed. The owners, a friendly outgoing couple, maintain a very clean motel with excellent customer service. Our 2 queen sized bed room was comfortable, (did I mention clean) with microwave, fridge and tv. Our bathroom had the original tiles from the 1960's (super clean, no mold/mildew) & was bright and spotless with excellent shower pressure! The only issue was the shower curtain which clung to you if you had the ceiling fan on which is automatic when you turn the lights on. There is a basket of snacks for you to help yourself (no cost!) & inside the fridge, there are cold drinks which if you take one, they ask you to leave $1-2 (honor system). We have never seen this level of service! They also offer complimentary breakfast items in the office area. If we are visiting the area again, we will certainly stay here. PS-prices during the summer are VERY reasonable!!

We loved staying here October 4th through October 7th 2020. Owners are so friendly and helpful. We received a goody package in the morning that included a carafe of coffee, and a bag which included an apple, cheese, nature valley oats and honey bar, chocolate chip granola bar,GoGurt, even a home made muffin one day. With the COVID 19 this was a pleasant surprise. Thanks again for a clean and safe place to stay. Bill and Diane Pollett

The owners go to great lengths to preserve the retro theme of this motel. It's old, but very well maintained. Very clean rooms, accomodating staff, spacious grounds, and a nice continental breakfast make for a pleasant experience.

Although we had reserved an upstairs room, the owners recognized that we aren't exactly teenagers, and encouraged us to switch to an available downstairs room to avoid carrying all of our luggage up a somewhat formindable stairs. Great suggestion!

It made a great base location for us to explore the beautiful surroundings in southern Vermont.

Let’s start with that the owners are fantastic. They shared their opinions of local places to eat and shop and I found that to be most helpful. The bed in my upstairs was firm, as I like it. Thus, I slept very well both nights I was there. Breakfast was served under the front porch across the rooms and the selection was good compared to some Covid era breakfasts I have had.

This "Chalet Motel" was totally a "breath of fresh air"! Room was very clean and homey. Very quant and retro feel. Husband and I were blown away by all the personal touches! There was a basket of assorted snacks, cute napkins, REAL plants, extra quilts for the bed, and waters and sodas in the fridge. Windows actually open! Grounds are impeccable. They have a binder put together with actual menus from their favorite restaurants/diners, places to shop, and tons of other information to help make your stay more enjoyable. (I actually read it from cover to cover). Owners, Jen and Dom, are so accommodating and made us feel like family! We spent 2 nights here this past weekend and are going back up this weekend. Make sure to stop at Bob's Diner in Manchester, VT and Stone House Antiques in Chester, VT. A+++++++++++++

My wife and I have been staying here since before Jen and Dom became the owners. We travel quite a bit and we always have a great stay when we are here. They have made many improvements to the exterior and to the the rooms. Their hospitality is second to none every time we stay here. We spent Easter weekend there and two of the nights there were only two units rented. We did not expect breakfast on those mornings but when I opened the door to drive for coffee and breakfast they had delivered hot coffee and a bagged breakfast that included homemade muffins. They even added some juice and snacks for our grandkids who were visiting. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have everything needed for for a very relaxing vacation.

Snowdon Chalet was a welcoming place to stay. It was a perfect place to rest after skiing. We especially enjoyed the coffee, hot chocolate, and treats in the late afternoon. They provided great recommendations for dinner. Thank you for your hospitality!
