The DoubleTree by Hilton Burlington Vermont boasts a prime location that guests frequently commend for its convenience to nearby dining, shopping, and attractions. Despite this, the hotel's atmosphere and value have received mixed reviews, with some appreciating the lobby's ambiance but others criticizing overlooked decor and perceived overpriced offerings. While the hotel's eco-friendly amenities earn praise from some visitors, the overall guest experience is marred by reports of inconsistent cleanliness, maintenance issues in rooms, and service shortcomings that include understaffing and check-in challenges.

It’s 2½ miles uphill from Church Street (not an easy walk). The hotel shuttle runs 24/7 and will pick up and drop off at the airport, train station, Church Street and the hospital. It leaves the hotel on the hour and half hour, but doesn’t make all stops each journey. The welcome wasn’t particularly warm and we weren’t offered the famous Doubletree cookie. The hotel is large. The lobby and atrium restaurant and pool have high ceilings. You can but snacks and drinks in the lobby, which has comfortable seating, a fireplace and two huge TVs. The pool was clean and the temperature was on the cool side of comfortable. It wasn’t relaxing because it was full of noisy little kids even up until the 10 pm closing time. Rooms are in several wings. Some look inwards, including a few that overlook public hallways or the pool. Our room, which was on the opposite side of the hotel from the entrance, faces a highway, trees and distant mountains when visibility was good. The room is large, but the window was relatively small. (My request for a room with a large sliding window and balustrade wasn’t accommodated probably because of late check in on a day the hotel was fully booked.) It’s clean except for the upholstery on the two side chairs (a very nice touch) and ottoman. The empty mini fridge is large enough to fit at last liter bottles upright. There’s a coffee machine and a small microwave, but not plates or cutlery. The TV is huge. The bathroom is also large with plenty of counter space and a large glass-door shower that includes a low shelf that’s helpful for shaving legs. The water temperature isn’t very hot and the pressure isn’t strong. Body wash and shampoo are in dispensers attached to the wall. There are makeup remover wipes. The entire living area of the room is carpeted. Hangars are wood and have hooks (not anti-theft rings). There’s a luggage rack. The bed is on the soft side. The air conditioner is very loud, cycles on and off and gets warmer on its own. The décor is bland except for the Vermont-themed artwork (think cover bridges and a cow). We would have preferred to stay closer to the lake, but hotels are VERY expensive in that part of the city, so this hotel was a (slightly) more affordable choice.

Wonderful weekend in Burlington! Warm welcome with suggestions of local places to visit, warm cookie on our arrival! Large room, clean, with body lotion, shower gel. shampoo and conditioner provided. The King bed is very comfortable, buffet breakfast included with our room was very acceptable although it was still bacon and egg toast! The shuttle service to take us to the center is a big plus! No need to take the car! The driver, a nice young man whose name I unfortunately do not have, is really very nice, recommended us good restaurants and is very pleasant to talk to!! He loves people, it shows! I have nothing negative to say about our experience at this place!

I stayed here while traveling for business at the University of Vermont Medical Center. The hotel is perfectly located: just a few minutes from Burlington International Airport, just off Interstate 89, and mere steps from UVM. This makes it perfect for travelers coming to Burlington. The hotel itself is large and has an interesting layout where you walk through the front entryway and back through the hotel restaurant/dining area before you get to the actual building portion with the multiple floors of rooms. I found my hotel room to be spacious, seemingly recently-updated, and clean. There is a mini fridge in the room for anyone traveling with food or bringing home leftovers. I did not try the restaurant within the hotel but it looked nice. The staff were accommodating with any requests or questions I had. Overall, I would definitely recommend this DoubleTree location if your travels take you to Burlington, Vermont.

Do not book here. This hotel is hiding the fact that they have two wings: a renovated wing, and a wing that is older and lower quality than any hotel I have ever stayed in for this price range. Despite paying $280/night, we got put in this old wing. The bathroom was of shockingly low quality for a big name brand in 2024: no joke, decades old without a renovation. Old moldy tile shower, stained bath, peeling moldy paint on the ceiling, no bathroom vent, tiny. The room itself was from the same era and was like a dank attic room: sloping ceiling, unusually small, only a tiny window at head-height. And everything as cheap as can be: furniture and tv stand chipping, paint chipping, stained old furniture. The hallways still reek of cigarettes and are very dank. They did switch our room for us to one with a modern bathroom for our second night, but room quality otherwise the same. It's clear to see what's happening here: they renovated the lobby and pool area to look beautiful in photos online, and are literally hiding this Frankenstein wing that I'm not exaggerating, is the oldest and worst I've ever seen. We think they give the rooms with better bathrooms to the earlier check-ins, and stick later check-ins with these old rooms. Refused to remediate or offer discount for this. In addition, the pool was closed our whole stay for repairs, and we received no notice at all, and again, no opportunity for remediation for that (and it is one of the reasons we booked). Basically running a scam outfit, and well below the usual Hilton standard. Bonus fun story: our first night, we went to the desk and complained about the low standard of the bathroom and room. The man at the desk on our first night offered us a "better" replacement room, but said it would have two single beds instead of a king or queen. We accepted, desperate to escape the peeling attic from 1989, but thankfully caught while he prepped our keys that the replacement room was in the same exact wing and would have the same exact low standards (only now with two single beds for a married couple!) which he admitted to only when we directly asked. Insulting!

This hotel clearly was under staffed for the New Year weekend holiday. When I arrived at 4 pm to check in, as it stated when I called that check in time was 4 pm, their entire lobby was full of people. People sitting on suitcases, etc. They didn’t have any rooms ready and said they’d take our number and call us. We sat in our car for an hour before they called. There was no where to sit inside. It was awful. They offered breakfast the next day ($17 for a basic continental breakfast that is FREE at other hotels). The next day we never had housekeeping services and had to go get our own towels. Someone came to clean our room at 9 pm! I have stayed here before but I will NEVER stay at this location again. Many people in my party said the same thing. Too bad- it’s a great location and pretty hotel. But, if you can’t find workers, which we all know is a huge problem, then you shouldn’t book that many rooms.

We stayed for 5 days. One day the room was not made up despite telling the cleaning staff 3 times. When it was made up it was done poorly. Tissues were not replenished, conditioner never was filled. Bar glasses never taken away, The ice machine on the floor didn’t function. We were with a convention and cleaning staff were in the convention main floor ways all day vacuuming, and would not move. The convention for was terrible and often left empty 1/2 way through the service time. Shuttle service was the only redeeming service. Avoid this property

If U read the poor reviews of this place, they all have a reverberating message: dirty, false charges, & poor management. Unfortunately, I had to be another yet unsatisfied Hilton (Diamond) Member subjected to that. Upon entering the rm & unpacking, found a wet orange pool towel hanging in the closet, which means the rm obviously was not thoroughly cleaned. Also informed the complimentary water bottles would B waiting in the rm - they were not. So they text ya during ur stay "everything alright?" each day & I finally text back about this & they ask if there's anything they can do. Hey I'm trying not 2 make a big deal cuz they look busy, & full, & housekeeping in a rush ... wuteva ... no big deal. I respond that I'd js like an easy Chk Out. Of course, right? NO! If U value ur credit card, do not stay here. They double charged the pet fee, took away my daily Food & Bev credit of $15 per 2 people/day (despite prepaying for breakfast), & to top it off: had already charged me the prebooked reservation upon Chk In, in addition to the entire stay once again the next day, & yet (YES!) a 4th X @ Chk Out. OK now I'm upset & actually stopped here on my way back home 3 days later after staying in Montreal, since datz wut their email sez 2 do if unhappy. Plz rectify w/em B4 the survey - O but did Gen Mgr Tom & Director Christina care? NOPE, or else I wouldn't B writing this.

Run from this place. Do not book here. We had the most awful experience. We booked through hotels.com so the room was paid for and the front desk acknowledged that. The next day we noticed they charged us for the room on the card we gave them for incidentals. We called them over and over and after them trying to say we didn't pay for the room, I spent over 3 hours on the phone being passed from person to person till i got promised a refund. horrendous experience of talking to one nasty person after another. I finally had to take it to the headquarters. Do not trust them with your credit card!
Also the pictures are not what the hotel is like. There were stains on the furniture and paint peeling in the bathroom.

Large property (popular with airline crews) with ample free parking. Diamond elite members will get the usual meal credit, which is worth it for breakfast. Excellent staff all around!

Upgraded room was actually an accessible room so a bit larger. TV remote hadn’t been cleaned in awhile (I used my own wipes) it the rest of the room seemed fine.

A few restaurants nearby such as Chipotle and Starbucks but not calling distance.

The location is great because it is just off the highway and close to a lot. Hotel is very nice but rather pricey and missing some common amenities like microwaves in room and free bottled water in fridge at least on Day 1. If you are allergic to animals, be sure to ask for a room that does not allow pets. I didn’t think to ask for that. Also if you like operable windows I think you have to ask for upper floor. Despite the criticisms I would actually recommend and stay there again myself.
