Welcome to the new and improved Round Hearth Cafe and Marketplace! While we were once a youth ski dorm - the place for groups - we have pivoted in recent years to a cafe and artsits/vintage market! Come visit us and sit by the fire while you enjoy one of our grilled sandwiches, soups, or salads. Maybe have a beer or glass of wine! While you wait for your food, feel free to visit our marketplace (in the old bunk rooms!) where we showcase art and antiques from over 70 vendors!

Stumbled upon this absolute gem after a hike in nearby Smuggler's Notch and wow what a find!! Best latte ever, great food, coziest vibes, local art, and friendly service! And it's historic too - the cafe used to be a ski dorm for youth groups but has since been converted into the adorable cafe it is today, as well as a huge shop with antiques and also where local artists showcase their works! This place is so immediately welcoming - surrounded by fall foliage and all the beauty of a New England state park - and when you walk in, you're instantly greeted with cozy farm decor and a giant decorative fire pit as the centerpiece of the dining experience. Staff are all friendly and happy to chat. They have a decent menu of sweet and savory items and everything is homemade. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to pick up your food when ready - so no table service but definitely wasn't an issue for me. They have tons of coffee flavors and other drinks. I started with a toasted marshmallow latte bc I can't resist anything marshmallow and it truly was the BEST I ever had!! For my lunch I got a cup of their soup of the day - lentil - and a pulled pork sandwich. That lentil soup was amazing - even better than my own version I make!! I'll definitely be trying to recreate this recipe at home now. The pulled pork sandwich was also excellent. The pork was so tender, lots of coleslaw on nicely toasted bread and delicious sauce - all fantastic. The rest of the space is filled with items and pieces of art from local vendors and artists so be sure to browse before you leave. I found so much that I loved! My only regret was I didn't have enough room in my suitcase haha! They also have some rooms for rent onsite via Airbnb. Prices are reasonable here and they have tons of inside seating, as well as a large lawn and outdoor space with lots of seating there as well. Plenty of parking here. There are small mountains across the street that were so full of colorful fall foliage on my visit (early October) - just a splendid place all around. Highly recommend!

I am disgusted at the way my child and I were treated. We were wearing just sweatpants and hooded sweatshirts and it's obvious we are not white like everyone else that was eating there at the time. So not sure if this was due to our race or attire or both. However, the very rude older woman that took our order and even repeated it back to me got upset with me because my beeper was beeping and I did not hear it( 76 percent deaf and I am wearing two hearing aids) , so she brought my burned toast sandwich over and said are you #15?! Don't you here the beeper?! Aggressively placed the plate on the table and left flustered back to the area so she could keep talking with her co worker. My son and I waited for a bit and his order never came and I did not have the beeper anymore. So I walked up and asked if his order would be ready soon. She said, I never heard you say you wanted to order that? she repeated my order to me when I told her and paid. She made me feel like I did something wrong and was very rude. I took my burnt toast sandwich to go and had to feed it to my chickens because it was so hard and inedible. Super overpriced for that and a tea and soda that she gave me. Plus I tipped before even getting my food because they ask for it when you pay. Definitely won't ever go back, and neither will my clients ( very many in Stowe) or family. The one star is because they have a very warm fire near all the seating. Still, just not worth it.

This place does not look too exciting from the outside, but inside there is a good cafe and you sit surrounded by the varied antique items and gift ideas. You can even buy the chairs and tables! Has a huge open hearth to add to the ambience. Well worth a visit.

Breakfast was good - but not a place I'd rush to return. Ambience - neat with vintage tables, round fireplace (round hearth cafe) Staff- Friendly not attentive to detail. Food - We went when the restaurant was maybe 15-20% full. Ultimately we didn't get what we wanted and that is why we wouldn't recommend it. We asked for two special requests - and the gentleman who took our order was enthusiastic "yes we can totally do that" but yet ----- when it came - they missed both. The request was unbuttered/dry toast, it came buttered; we asked for soft bacon it was the crispiest I ever received - First world problem? of course not, but as a small business you try to cater to guest requests. Pancakes were ok but tasted gummy. Bread was EXCELLENT & fresh. Very very good bread...

Not a hotel so in the wrong TripAdvisor category. Funky cafe in the midst of an antique store/gift shop setting. Family run and very friendly. Enjoyed the breakfast and would return. The maple French toast coffee was some of the best I’ve had.

Excellent cafe with an array of breakfast, sandwich and salad options plus warm hospitality in an authentic Vermont atmosphere. We walked in close to closing and they were so welcoming and happy to serve us - this is a great find in Stowe! The options on the mountain felt a bit commercial, so this was a great choice right down the road. Would absolutely recommend!!

When you walk in, you’re immediately greeted by a huge welcoming hearth complete with comfortable benches to sit around it. We came here in the summer but we could imagine what it would be like when the fire is going. The whole place is not only a cafe, but an antique/art store. Everything from your table to the salt shakers is for sale. I ended up picking up the cutest owl salt and pepper shaker set! There are many rooms open for viewing and buying really cool and interesting items. I wish I’d had more room in my car. Anyway, back to the food! We went there two times in a row because the food was so good. I ordered the quiche both days and both days it was the best quiche I’ve ever had. It came with a green salad and a maple dressing that I would put on everything if I could get more. Their sandwiches are so good that my friends couldn’t stop talking about them. This is a place to linger over the good food and soak in the amazing atmosphere as well as shop a little. I can’t wait to come back to Stowe and eat here again!

Went for breakfast, which was outstanding but enjoyed the shopping just as much! Beautiful, welcoming fire when we walked in. Ordered at the counter, grabbed a mug of coffee and started strolling around the restaurant/shop. It's HUGE! Loved wandering through the various rooms. And the food really was amazing. Super friendly staff and patrons too!

A local grocery store worker in Stowe recommended this place to us when the limited in town eateries were full of bus tourists at lunch time. What a treasure! We loved the atmosphere with the open hearth fireplace and enjoyed browsing the things that were for sale, even on our table. And the food was delicious! I had the grilled apple, bacon and cheese sandwich and my husband had the raisin bread French toast. Excellent! Try out this repurposed ski retreat dorm building between Smugglers Notch and Stowe. We’re glad we did.
