If you're in Waterbury Vermont this is the place to stay. The hotel is not only an exceptional value but it's extremely clean. Breakfast is even included in your stay and not bagels and toast you're actually getting scrambled eggs, a vegetable medley, baked potatoes. Definitely above average. I love the fact that they have a water filling station in their lobby.
Was visiting family in the area with family (two children 9, 5). Pros: Very clean facilities, Great breakfast (something for everyone), very friendly staff (especially the breakfast attendant who was amazing), Pool, game room, lounge area (for some reading/work if needed). I also really appreciated that the breakfast, pool and game room were all open 6-10 so they were very accommodating of all schedules and didn't use the pandemic as an excuse to provide less. Cons: In this day and age, the lack of a room option with queen beds that wasn't a suite is a bit of a throwback. The rooms themselves were also quite small. Neither was a deal breaker but something to consider if you are trying to fit more than two adults/ two very small children into a room. It can get cramped pretty quickly.…
Just one night at a pet friendly room, mostly good. There was some previous dog's hair leftovers on the carpet (one pays an extra fee). The dog walk path was not fully cleared of snow. Breakfast was great. The beds were rather soft. One of the outside locks working poorly.
great hotel--clean and quiet rooms. Great pool and hot tub. Awesome hot breakfast buffet and eating area. Nice sitting room to hang out in with family or friends. Friendly staff. we will definitely stay there again. 20 minutes to Bolton Valley ski area. Restaurants and grocery store near by.
We were so happy to find a "pet-friendly" room available for two nights. Like others have mentioned here, the hotel STRICTLY forbids dogs to be left alone in the room. We canceled our tour at Ben & Jerry's knowing we couldn't take the dogs with us and drove around Waterbury looking for things to do with two little dogs in tow. I have traveled all over the country and stayed at hundreds of pet friendly locations and have NEVER been told dogs could not be left in the room. It is not a pet-friendly policy at all and then to charge a pet fee on top of it is criminal. The signage in the room also threatens that staff will enter the room even if you have a "do not disturb" sign on the door, "to ensure cleanliness" and that rooms will be checked with a "black light' to see if the pets have soiled the rooms. Again...unheard of. Lastly, we were placed in a room in a high traffic area which of course led to barking activity and the front desk called us about complaints after only an hour on the premises. Ultimately, we were refunded our money and drove 7 hours home in horrific weather conditions because staying at this hotel would have been a worse option. We would have had anxiety all night worrying that our dogs might bark. Honestly, this hotel should end their supposed "pet-friendly" policy because it is deceptive and they obviously prefer not to have pets on site. …
All areas of the hotel were clean (spa/pool area, fitness area, rooms, and hallways.) The breakfast area was well stocked, the coffee and real maple syrup were an extra treat. An employee was even out helping guests clean off their cars after a snow storm! We enjoyed our stay.
Recently, I had an unexpected visit to the Best Western in Waterbury, VT. From the gentleman at the front desk to the many staff members I met during the course of my stay, everyone was warm, welcoming, and thoughtful. The business facilities were clean and comfortable, and the view was an unexpected bonus! I highly recommend this location and the wonderful people who make you feel welcome.
My wife and I have made this hotel our base for many adventures in the Waterbury/Stowe area over the last few years. While the hotel is not new, nor particularly upscale, it is consistently clean and friendly. The hotel allows pets, which would normally put us off, but we have never noticed any noise or residual odor that might accompany a pet friendly policy. This indicates to me a focus on great housekeeping. I have given this hotel a positive review before, and felt compelled to reiterate praise where it is due. We have yet to have a bad experience here. The beds are comfortable, the a/c units function properly, and the front desk staff are friendly and efficient. The pool area is tidy, as is the well appointed exercise room. For a mid-tier chain hotel at a decent price you’d be hard pressed to do better than this. Prices were up a bit over last time we visited, as are many accommodations post Covid, but given all the good here only minor issues prevent a five star review. One minor gripe is that breakfast was not great this time around. Sad looking melon slices and tired eggs were a hard no for me. I’m not particularly picky, but last time we stayed here the offerings were much better. It’d be nice to have bagels and cream cheese rather than just toast and English muffins, and the fresh fruit leaves a lot to be desired. I seem to recall them having yogurt here before too, but I didn’t see any this time around. Additionally, there was a periodic high pitched sound that seemed to emanate from the laundry room. It wasn’t constant thankfully, but it was irritating. A dryer perhaps, or maybe a ventilation issue? It wasn’t coming from our room (227), but it was definitely noticeable. Again, I’m nitpicking here. I like this property and the people who work here, and I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for clean, comfortable accommodations in the Waterbury area at a fair price.…
Was traveling to Burlington on MLK wknd with my wife and the three “kids” (all in their 20s) when, spoiled brats that they are, they all bagged out. The wife, who’d arranged the trip, was disappointed but determined to get away just the same, so the two of us drove up anyway. We kept the reservation at the only available 3-bed econoroom she could find and checked in on Friday the 13th. No fault of the hotel but it was too much room for too two people and a bit too loud for a light sleeper like myself. Determined to rescue my better half from the funk created by our selfish and ungrateful brats, I switched gears and booked a room at BW. The criteria was simple enough but needed to be met without fuss or fanfare. As amusing as this post may seem I was very serious about swooping in and giving my wife as perfect a weekend as I could. So I took advantage of my sleepless night to search the area. The hotel was close to the highway but insulated from the sights and sounds. And it’s surrounded by trees rather than structures. The room was big, cozy, plush and offered a view of the mountains (which she noticed right away and commented on.) I let her check in while I grabbed the luggage, and when I walked into the room she met me at the door with a BIG smirk and said “This room is nicer than the other one” and we both laughed. Win! And I didn’t waste any time nickel and diming and didn’t have to pay through the nose. She checked the place out while I unpacked my stuff and came back to the room with “The seating area in the lobby is comfy, also the hot tub is running so I’ll be in it tomorrow. And you should see the activity room it’s beautiful…” The rest of the stuff is the usual “staff is great, breakfast is great, service is great” but it’s true, and it mattered because of how we came to stay there. We stayed 2 nights and left Monday after a post-check out walk along the covered bridge trail behind the hotel. Bottom line, you get what you pay for; nice digs, nice area, nice grub (tortillas at the breakfast buffet…score!) and nice staff. …
We spent a pleasant and calm NYE here. We never heard the other guests. The pool, hot tub, game room, and communal sitting room (couches, TV, bookshelves) were nice, and I imagine would greatly benefit longer term guests. There's a small playground out back, and their own covered bridge, leading to some hiking paths. We didn't find much food that delivered, but there were several restaurants and a grocery store within a few minute drive. Breakfast was nice, with hot and cold options. I will say the driveway is incredibly steep. I would use caution if driving in wintery conditions.
