The staff was just wonderful. Everyone was kind and attentive. My children were even impressed. Room was clean and beds comfortable. As an added bonus, there is a very nice indoor pool, which was great for a little wind down before bed (closes at 10). Breakfast was fine, and I really enjoyed the cream chipped beef...just like my mother's back...

We came here on a family trip, with 9 adults. The hotel was great in changing some rooms around after a misunderstanding. They gave us a suite with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Great breakfast!

I stayed at The English Inn for a weekend visiting Monticello and was so happy with my choice. Not a chain, nice vibe, great breakfast and afternoon tea, convenient location and super clean. Lots of relaxing common areas and nicely decorated. Coffee in the rooms could be managed a little better but the lobby coffee is great.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel! From the courteous and resourceful front desk staff, to the clean facilities, to the huge indoor pool, to the large breakfast buffet, to the afternoon tea, to the charming decor and classical music in public areas...this place is unique and special. The hotel appeared to be packed over the weekend (well,...

My rating above was "average", but I would really rate it between "average" and "very good". If you are tired of all the chain motels and want someplace a little different with some "old world" charm, this may be the place. It is conveniently located right off the freeway. It is a little old - but that may be part...

Stayed here during a recent Road Scholar tour to the presidential homes in the area. Pleasant hotel desk people who were most helpful when needed. Indoor pool although did not use it. Tea and cookies served in the afternoons. Located a short ten minute bus ride from the hotel to downtown.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. While the overall decor of the hotel is older, it didn't detract from the overall comfort of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was very good--with a nice variety of choices. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was a great value.

The graduation weekend in Charlottesville was hectic but we were lucky to be staying at The English Inn in comfort and quiet. Our room was clean and spacious. The grounds are great for a quiet walk. The daily breakfast was a great start to our day. It is easily reached as it is on the highway so we didn't have...

My family and I spent last weekend at The English Inn and thoroughly enjoyed it! We were most impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the thoughtfulness of the manager. They are very accommodating to the needs of their visitors. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. With it being graduation weekend for the university, we enjoyed its location...

A quaint place to stay. A little worn, but very well maintained. Its location is out of the on the northside. The afternoon tea was not quite up to par. The employees were very friendly. A very safe place to park your car.
