The main lodge and grounds are gorgous. The pool area is extremely nice, but could use a little more lighting for evening use. The dining area is extremely nice. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They have a remote unit from the main Inn which is perfect for a large family or multiple couple use. If you’re out in...

Just had an elegant dinner for 130 at Clifton Inn Charlottesville. Ambiance was sublime, wait staff gracious and professional, service was impeccable and food was dazzling. Warm hospitality and satin-smooth vibe inspired everyone, and the evening was a delightful success. Highest recommendation!

We stayed without adult children in the Farmhouse on the main floor. This provided a quiet and lovely place for a visit, so much better than most hotel accommodations. We brought in our food for dinner since the Inn had a special function that evening. The rooms are lovely and the beds are comfortable. We walked to the Rivanna River...

My wife and I stayed at the Clifton Inn on our first visit to Charlottesville, and were fortunate enough to receive a free upgrade to the Monticello suite. The suite was very comfortable, and only lacked pillows on the firmer side. Continental breakfast and afternoon tea were included, and both were quite tasty and nourishing! The Clifton Inn grounds are...

We just happened onto this place while cruising the wineries. Although they don't serve lunch they greeted us and let us order. We had the whole place to ourselves and our waitress was so very kind and gracious. I believe her name was Luda. After a wonder lunch she was nice enough to tell us the history of the inn...

I live locally but haven't been to Clifton in years, but had college friends in for the weekend so planned some nice events, including dinner at the chef's counter in the kitchen at Clifton. Wow, was it a treat. Chef Yannick Fayolle is such a creative and innovative chef, it was a real experience to have him explain how he...

The Clifton Inn is a beautiful place! The history, the grounds, the buildings, and the location are all wonderful. The pool, gardens and porches are beautiful. Even the friendliness of the women that checked us in was warm and inviting. But that's where it ends .... Perhaps my expectations are a bit higher because of the $300/night price tag. But...

I had high hopes for this historic inn and I was more than pleased. The inn and our room (number 2) had beautiful historic details and comfortable amenities. Lovely fireplace and extremely comfortable bed. The roll-away cot for our daughter was saggy but that is expected. She slept on the sofa which she pronounced comfortable. We heard some loud guests...

Lovely, quiet setting, also excellent food. Don't know why you pay a recreation fee when the pool is not open. There were no other recreational facilities. One of our rooms was big and well appointed, the other was small with a terrible bed. So I guess any review will depend on the room. The rooms are all different which is...

Thank you very much for your honest review and we truly appreciate your time. We do apologize that our pool was closed, but we're happy to say that it's now officially open as of today. During your next visit with us, we encourage you to enjoy a game of croquet on the croquet lawn, or a lovely hike on our...
