We stayed at this hotel only for one night. At first, they gave us a room on the second floor. The carpet was not vacuumed ( you could see little pieces of things laying all over/filthy edges as well). The shower had moldy caulking. The coffee maker “conveniently located” next to the hair dryer had hair on the tray…disgusting. Unfortunately, we also FOUND HAIR ON OUR BED SHEETS. That’s when we finally called reception and they switched us to another room on the third floor. Uff…finally. Well, not really. Even though the bed sheets were clean this time around, ONE OF THE BEDROOM TOWELS HAD HAIR on it …disgusting. I had to go downstairs to front desk and get two new ones…no apologies whatsoever. Microwave was dirty too. Mini fridge was clean but no freezer (in case you want to freeze ice packs for the trip). Breakfast was average. Breakfast sandwiches, cereal, milk, yogurt, bad coffee, juices and oranges. The only positive thing for this hotel is the comfy bed. Would I go back? Nope!…
Shower was unusable because of a layer of sand..someone had dumped a pail with sand into the tub. Drain was clogged and layer of sand in the bottom of tub. Housekeeping had gone home, so we cleaned it..still unusable. What kind of quality control is there? Woman at front desk said she'd clean it but she was the only one there and couldn't leave. She took our number and said the manager would call. We never got a call.
I stayed at the Sleep Inn Emporia, VA on April 19, 2021 on my way back to NY from SW Florida. Booked with Priceline. No issues at check-in. I drove for 13 hours and just needed a break. Was given a king room... #311 to be exact. Got settled in around 8pm. The bedding is the first thing I always inspect. No issues. However, every surface in the room looked like it was wiped down with a dirty wet rag... including the bathroom vanity, toilet and fixtures. I had a bottle of isopropyl alcohol with me so I soaked a washcloth with it and wiped down anything I would touch. No biggie still (I have been in the hotel business for 28 years... things happen). I ordered delivery from a nearby restaurant and after eating I was going to take a shower. I was terrified at what I saw when I looked at the shower head (zoom in on all the pics... unfortunately this platform will only allow 10). There was some form of brown/black biology experiment growing from the middle of it. I called the front desk requesting someone come change this thing out with a new one and was told that the front desk clerk was the only employee present in the entire hotel and no one could help me. Huh ??? I went to the front desk to get a key to a different room (I’m 6’3” tall and now received a room with 2 small beds). Room #315 this time. Obviously the same housekeeper tried to clean this room as well. Bedding was clean and neat. Not so much for the rest of the room. I’m pretty sure the same dirty rag was used to wipe things down. The shower head had a similar problem but at least someone made an attempt at cleaning it. The worst part was that the tub was literally polluted with pubic and other hairs. Inexcusable !!! The remote was covered in layers of saucy-gooy stuff and had probably never been cleaned. Same for the coffee maker. I talked to the front desk again and pretty much got no response except “I’m the only one here”. When I came down a second time there were 2 girls behind the front desk lol. Went back to the room, wiped all surfaces down with 91% isopropyl alcohol again, and had asked both girls to have the general manager, Victoria Krisantis, to give me a call in the morning. I left before she arrived the next morning. It’s now 4 days later and I still haven’t received a call yet. This hotel is nice but they have a serious housekeeping problem. In light of what’s going on with Covid you would think a hotel would take extra precautions to protect their guests from pathogens. Not here !!! This hotel is a breeding ground for any and every pathogen. You couldn’t pay me to stay there again. Sleep in your car if you have to. I gave them 4 days to respond... they obviously don’t care and have poor management. ZERO stars…
My wife and I stayed here for just 1 night on a trip further north. I'd say it was a decent place but did have a couple peculiarities. I originally booked on the app and there is no way to add you have your pet with you. When we checked in they had us on the 3rd floor, but when I notified them of our dog, they then moved us to the 4th floor. I was told all pets stay on the 4th floor. Seemed a bit weird to put them at an even higher floor so it takes longer to get your pet outside to do it's business, but it's their place so their rules. Upon getting off the elevator on our floor there was an overwhelming odor of musty and/or cigarettes. We did choose a non-smoking room and when we went in the room itself was odor free, but the hallway was terrible. The room seemed clean and the bed was comfortable. I should also add that all the staff, on the night of check in and then the following day until we left, were friendly and helpful. I would probably stay here again if I was traveling through.…
Stay at this hotel everytime through the area. Great staff and CLEAN rooms. I would recommend anyone I the area to stay at the Sleep Inn. I've stayed here maybe 50 times in the past year and each time room cleanliness is top notch. Their wonderful manager keeps on top of things
