When I decided I wanted to go camping this past June and could get No One to accompany me...lol... I "goggled" "safe camping sites for women traveling alone" Gooney Creek came up....The owner and daughter were great to me...showed me how to put up my tent...(my 1 st camping experience since scouting) assigned me a site that they could see...

Stayed in July. We tent camped. Very few rvs. We did not stay on the creek but would reserve there if we go back. Mom and daughter were very nice and daughter Pamela was very kind and accommodating. Spaces were very close together and they kindly accommodated our request to move our space after we arrived and desired more shade.The...

Nice campground by a bubbling creek. Slept very nicely next to the sound of the creek. A little road noise, but the sound of the running water drowned that out. Had a chat with the owner's daughter the next morning; very pleasant. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area of Shenandoah NP northern border. Price paid was a...

We stayed there for 2 nights mid June. Only one planned, but we couldn't resist an extra day. If you are a 5 star type person, this is not the place for you. If you want a true camping experience, in a beautiful spot, with enough facilities to make the experience comfortable, then this is as good as it gets....

Great camping experience! Some of the sites are smaller but that didn't matter as it was just me and the dog. There is traffic noise but it fades into the background Don't know why the person from Fairfax thought the photos were fake, I had no trouble locating where the pictures were taken, they are definitely NOT fake. The creek...

Love Gloria. 85 year young lady who is owner & caretaker. This is real camping folks. Take yourself to a motel if your expecting 5 star amenities. The owner is witty, friendly, wise & takes no nonsense. We love her and look forward to sharing a drink or two with Gloria every year. We also invite her to a real...

We just returned yesterday from one of the most wonderful camping trips we have had in a long time. The pictures on the Gooney Creek website are very accurate! It is beautiful! We stayed at site #18. It's the last campsite on the campground. This campground was great! We were next to the water and a short walk from the...

It's been 2 years but I want to go back. The woman who runs the place is a gem. She told me stories and we had a great time talking. The campground is very nice, plenty of space on each site. fishing on grounds was awesome too. Bathrooms clean and showers hot. What more can you ask for while tent...

The best way to put this is ...if you're looking for a commercialized, camper/trailer-preferred campground, this is NOT going to be it. This campground is best suited for tent camping and is not suited for people looking for a commercially run site. While the owner of this campground DOES come across as "eccentric," I found her to be a very...

“site 5 is the BEST view but normally reserved for 2 families / couples traveling together...10 - 14 are also good spots. and only 2 site "babbling brook front" with elec and water hook-ups”

“Stay on the creek as the sound of the water will drown out the traffic and other site noise as they are close together and more private on the creek too.”
