We stayed 3 nights while biking the wonderful New River rails to trails bike path nearby. For $43 a night, we had a clean, large room with comfy beds in a sweet neighborhood near Galax Main Street. But don't expect anything else. No coffee maker in room, no hair dryer, no shampoo. Not complaining, it worked well for us, just... More

We stayed here of of necessity. It was a typical low budget room and did not expect or get much. The staff wasn't rude, the room was OK, there were no frills, one of my kids had to sleep on the floor, it was out of the way. It was an OK place.

The décor of the rooms is wonderfully quaint. They were quiet and located on the highest point in Galax with a wonderful view. The room we stayed in had a louvered window that actually opened letting in the cool mountain air without compromising security and the parking lot was quiet enough that it didn't present a problem either. Maid service... More

Hotel was a quaint little place on top of a hill. Not a new hotel but clean, very nice owners and the maid service was awesome. I always bring my own quilt and pillows and the maid could tell that's what I liked then made the bed that way. I appreciated that. Cereal, toast and coffee is what's for breakfast... More

A cyclist I met on the New River Trail recommended this motel. We have had only bad experiences with Knights Inns, but tried it anyway and were delighted. First, it is a one story motel (1950's) with parking near the door. Stayed in one of their few rooms with a king bed N/S. Second, the room is huge, has been... More

We just happened to stay here during the 81st Old Fiddlers Convention, SURPRISE! This is not a fancy hotel and you can tell it is dated, but that just gives it character. Our room was clean and the price was reasonable, all we needed for the 12 hours we were in town. What you won't find at most hotels is... More

If you want to pay double the price for a room to stow your gear or rest your head go ahead and try somewhere else. This is a tidy but dated motel with a good wifi dry rooms and a good shower with great pressure. Stay here if you want a low cost pass through alternative.

Found this out of the way hotel on our trip home from visiting family in New York, a few days after Christmas. The hotel is out of the way---about 1/2 hour away from I-77 in the town of Galax, VA. Hotel is pet friendly and very affordable. Rooms are clean, but do need some updating. Everything was in working order,... More

The bed was a full size bed so for my husband and I it was too small. We hadn't been in a bed that small since we were married 42 years ago. They didn't even have a hair dryer so I had to call the front desk. They had one there for my to borrow. There was no shampoo either.... More

After hiking in the area we decided to stay overnight and get a room . Just looking for a cheap , clean hotel and this was good. Rooms were very clean . Also the hotel had great views of the mountain and chairs outside of room to sit and relax. Free breakfast wasn't much but was ok. Coffee, juice, toast... More
