Great hotel in a great little town. Well kept and charming hotel with a very helpful and friendly staff. Walking distance to restaurants and a very nice continental breakfast. Everybody we met in Marion was friendly and helpful. This hotel is biker friendly to boot, and can suggest some local routes if you would like.

We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel. Marion has become the center for Back of the Dragon, an awesome motorcycle route through Southwest Virginia. Be sure to enjoy one of onsite restaurants next time you are in town. 27 Lions has 27 beers on tap and great brick oven pizza while The Speakeasy serves fun, exciting...

This is by far my new favorite place to stay when I am in the area. Granted, there are quirky characteristics (some would say flaws) but getting past them allows you to really embrace the charm. First thing, there are steps and stairs everywhere. There is an elevator, but you have to go through some steps to get to it....

Comfortable stay and inviting atmosphere. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. Weekend down home to visit family and first time staying at the GFMH. Classic feel to the hotel. Clean and quiet. Speak Easy serves breakfast in the morning. You get a menu under your door in the morning. You can have a fridge and microwave in your room...

We were driving from Pennsylvania down to Florida and stopped here after a day on Skyline Drive. It's a beautiful historic hotel with dark woodwork right on Marion's main street--so much nicer than staying at a Best Western or Sleep Inn!

This was a serendipitous find as we were traveling along the Blue Ridge Mountains and ended up at a restaurant adjacent to the hotel. The hotel had the features most important to travelers: cleanliness, comfort, quiet, and a friendly staff. The hotel was built in the 1920's and recently renovated, so the common spaces and rooms have that older charm...

We came in for a quick weekend trip. We usually stay out at the lake but enjoyed this downtown gem. We were close to several restaurants. The kids like the nostalgia of the hotel. The ladies that worked the desk were super friendly. Rooms were clean.

This was my second stay at this hotel and I liked it so much the first time, I rode out of my way to spend another night here. The staff are extremely friendly and made a special effort to get two rooms near each other for our group. The room was very nice with a large bathroom, comfortable bed, and...

Opened in 1927 when Route 11 was the Route 66 of the East, the hotel apparently was a welcome lodging for those passing through. As these routes were bypassed, the train stopped going through and industries departed, the hotel lost its charm and guests. Now it's back with glimpses of what it once offered in construction and style, but whatever...

We would like to apologize for your less than satisfactory stay. Although we do not understand your heading “Historically inaccurate” I will try and respond to your comments. Very rarely do we get complaints about our Guest Services staff, but I have shared your review with them in hopes of creating a stronger sense of awareness of approaching guests. As...
