If you are looking for an all out, luxury resort. THIS is the place to go. My husband and I stayed here for my 40th birthday. We stayed in the Woodpecker East and it was so amazing. The views were gorgeous and the cottage was cozy, yet had a modern flare to it. The soaking tub in front of the...

As a kid growing up in rural Virginia, I had heard and read about this place. I never dreamed I'd ever get to hunt here. My wife and our kids stayed here for a two-day pheasant hunt, my first pheasant hunt ever. The rooms and Lodge were simply incredible. The restaurant featured fine dining in a friendly atmosphere. The pheasant...

I stayed 2 nights several years ago as a special promotion for the observatory, not knowing what to expect. I didn't like the idea of extravagant golf resorts that were wasteful of resources and pretentious. I was pleased to learn that the whole resort was designed with the environment in mind; the golf course designed to fit in with the...

My wife and I spent a very enjoyable weekend at Primland. The Lodge is superbly constructed and is beautiful - sitting atop a mountain with wonderful panoramic views. The amenities are all first class and the dining was superb, with lots of unique twists on traditional southern fare - as well as other more non-Southern dishes that were equally good....

Second year in a row going to Primland in December. This place is a true 5 star resort/experience. The staff are all top notch, the rooms in the lodge are great, the golf course is spectacular and the spa in wonderful. Cannot say enough positive things about this place and the incredible staff ( who put Disney service to shame!)

My husband and I visited Primland the week prior to Christmas as a gift to each other. This was the perfect place to visit to just relax, unwind and be pampered. We stayed in the Pinnacle Cottages, Bluebird 63 to be exact. These cottages are very new and meticulously designed/decorated. The view from our room was unbelievable, of a canyon...

A bit in the middle of nowhere, off Blue Ridge Parkway, in stunning, expansive, park-like settings. The hotel, cottages and amenities fulfill every wants, the property has miles of hiking and biking trails with commanding views of the blue ridge mountains; the pool and spa are there to completely relax -- very peaceful and serene place. Perfect. Restaurants are so-so,...

A beautiful place in a beautiful setting. Exceptional staff and wine selection. This place is so nice I almost don't want anyone to know about it. Cleanest bathroom ever. The steam shower is a nice touch. Rtv's are a blast. The observatory is a unique extra.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Escape There are many people at Primland with an abiding respect for the land, who know the sounds and smells of the forest so intimately, they will open your eyes to the simple pleasure of a mountain getaway at this refined East Coast vacation resort. They will show you the subtleties of nature and reacquaint you with the restorative powers of silence. Your server will remember just how you take your drink, your children's names and that you like a freshly baked cookie after lunch. You will sense the love your wilderness guide has for the mountain and all its creatures, and the depth of his expertise. You will always find a kind word, authentic humor and an open heart. It was the vision of Primland's founder, Didier Primat, to create a place of immense beauty that offers his guests a return to simple human pleasures in an environment of refined authenticity and sensuality. He developed Primland in an eco-conscious and thoughtful manner, as the ultimate retreat for world-class golf, refined dining and outdoor activities. Our love of the land is expressed in our extensive efforts to minimize our impact on nature, the freshness of our food, the many organic, sustainable ingredients we source locally or grow in our organic garden and the care with which we look after our guests. Didier Primat instilled his passion for Primland in every member of his family and staff , and they carry forward his legacy with soul, with heart and with a commitment to genuine hospitality. Art is an important part of the Primland experience. We consider hospitality to be an art that involves sharing emotion and pleasure through attention to even the most subtle detail. We also feel that surrounding you with inspired pieces of art enhances your experience. Throughout The Lodge, you will find hand-selected works by American artists as well as authentic and rare Aboriginal paintings from the most remote Australian territories. ... more   less
