A warm welcome awaits you at Villa Lafabregue, a beautiful house in the centre of Prades with either B&B or self catering accommodation, set in an acre of gardens with large swimming pool. We provide crockery and cutlery so you can bring food back from the market to eat on your terrace. There are laundry facilities available. You can make up a sandwich for your lunch from the breakfast buffet. We have free WiFi and internet access. We hope to provide you a relaxed, informal stay, making you feel at home.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We keep returning to Villa Lafabregue for the same warm welcome and beautiful surroundings. We stayed in a very comfortable terrace room with an enormous corner terrace overlooking both the Canigou and the garden and swimming pool. Tea and coffee facilities are in the room and on the buffet outside in the hallway you will find all the crockery/condiments you could need for a hastily-bought market lunch on the terrace on a sunny winters afternoon. The Tuesday Prades market is always a great experience. Breakfast is perfect and copious. The homemade Seville orange marmalade is especially good. Kate & Nick are wonderful hosts and make everyone feel at home in their stunning property. Great value for your money and well worth a visit.

We found this place by accident and walked into their propertyto be warmly greeted by the owner. Fortunately he had just one more room free for us. The room was very comfortable and so was the bathroom. they had provide for coffee and tea in this room. We also had a lovely balcony overlooking the spacious pool. The breakfast served was excellent and we could sit outside on a terras. There is free parking on their ground. For dinner we walked 5 minutes to the marketplace where there are three good restaurants to eat out in the open air. We would defintely stay with Kate and Nick next time as they are not only very friendly but helpfull too. Thanks a lot and hopefully we can come again.

We had a lovely stay at Villa Lafabregue. Our room was comfortable and spacious, with a large balcony and, of course, a view of Canigou. Kate and Nick were relaxed and welcoming, which made Villa Lafabregue feel relexed and welcoming too. Breakfast was varied and delicious, the pool was lovely, and the garden was delightful. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Lovely place to stay! We enjoyed every minute. It was perfect for us - house, grounds (with pool), view, and hosts. You can have your own lunch or dinner anywhere on the grounds or inside which makes meals super easy and comfortable. Everything is very spacious. Terraces are just beautiful. Also garden and pool, with a great view of Mount Canigou. The hosts are extremely helpful and kind. So you almost have no reason to leave the villa but that would be a mistake as the vicinity offers a lot within walking distance and 1€ buses and trains take you around to great places to visit. We will come again!

What a beautiful place to stay, amazing house and really good views of distant mountains. We stayed in one of the gites and it was really comfortable with lots of character. Great place to go and explore from but also lovely to just laze by the pool. I will definitely be returning.

As usual my husband and I find all sorts of things to stop and see along the way, but I sure wish we had had more time to spend at Villa Lafabregue. The mansion and grounds are so beautiful and romantic. Our room was comfortable and the bathroom was more than adequate for us. Kate's breakfast buffet was delicious and filling. I was amazed that she offered to let guests make lunch with left-over breakfast items. I was even more surprised to learn that one can have a tub of laundry done for a very small fee. We sure needed that! Kate and Nick are very gracious and friendly hosts. We walked to town our night at the mansion, and ate dinner at a restaurant in the Plaza. The mansion is very conveniently located. The next day we viewed Abbaye St Michael de Cuxa and hiked to the top of St. Martin de Canigou, which is a strenuous uphill hike. You are rewarded with amazing views and a tour of a monastery built in 1009, truly a serene and faith-filled place. I am so glad that we chose Villa Lafabregue for our stop over, and hope to return soon for a longer visit. Till then my best to two delightful hosts!

We've just had another perfect week in Prades - having packed in a thrilling 4x4 journey up the Canigou mountain, a classical guitar concert in a medieval priory, a Catalan folk band in Prades square, 1 Euro buses up to hill villages for great Catalan lunches followed by a walks back (there are shady woods for hot days), and visited priories, castles and museums. The Villa Lafabregue is as wonderful as everyone says and we can't recommend it highly enough - that's why we keep coming back. Nick and Kate are kind, relaxed and helpful, and work so hard to make sure that the house and gardens are always beautiful. The view of the garden with the backdrop of the mountains is stunning, especially at dusk when the lights silhouette the palm trees. It is particularly helpful that they are happy for people to take food back to eat on the terraces, breakfast room or in the gardens. There are some lovely food shops in Prades and it means that as well as eating out you can enjoy a relaxing meal at the Villa in the evening too. Amazing value for a luxury setting!

Villa Lafabregue should be on everyone's "bucket list". Forget the official star ratings, they just aren't relevant here. Nick and Kath are very welcoming and the old colonial style building has been restored beautifully. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The views are just stunning; no exaggeration. Try and get a balcony room; for €75 you can't go wrong. Nick and Kath keep a well stocked wine fridge and each glass of wine (there is an "honesty list") you take costs just €1. Now where else are you going to find hotel wines at €1 a glass?? This hotel is a must for sightseers, mountain walkers and lovers of peace & quiet.

If you ever visit this out of the beaten pass area of southern France, Villa Lafabregue is definitely a great option to stay in. Located in the charming town of Prades, famous for its annual music festival dedicated to Pablo Casals, the world renowned cellist who took refuge here after the Spanish civil war. The Villa is a stately mansion build in the early 20th century by a rich local banker and merchant. Falling in disrepair in the 60s and 70s it was discovered by a couple of brits who fell in love with the area. They decided to convert the Villa in a charming Bed & Breakfast . A nice swimming pool was added in the park, the rooms were spruced up and redecorated, modern baths worked in the antiquated ones or simply added in . Every year new items and comforts are smartly integrated. Nick and his wife are perfect hosts. A breakfast with fresh local fares is served at 8.00 every morning. Great base to discover this beautiful region with unique Romanesque architecture, hot and cold springs, multitude of trails, unusual and interesting local fares. Definitely worth a stop
