Fabulous location and family run hotel off the beaten track in the Black Forest. The double room was spacious with a big balcony with stunning views all around. Perfect starting and ending point to explore the Black Forest - the staff were accommodating to me and my dog, and the breakfast was great along with the buffet dinner on night 1. Only snag was had to drive to Freiburg on night 2 as restaurant closed due to national day, no dramas as 30 min round trip.

My husband and I stayed three days and were treated like royalty. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfasts were much better than expected. We ate dinner one night in the dining room and the food was delicious. I would recommend this beautiful hotel to my friends.

The restaurant was seriously the best I've been to in Germany. Great, great food, excellent service. It's quite fancy, but I had two young babies with me so I ate early to spare the other customers. The waitress was great. At breakfast they asked if the kitchen could make anything special for me even though it was a buffet spread. The waiter was curious about America so we had a good conversation. My knock is on the hotel. Nice hotel, don't get me wrong. But for a so called 4 star hotel, the room was pretty small, with a small bathroom (no tub). There was also no fridge or microwave - something I would expect out of a 4 star hotel. Because of the rating, it was a bit more expensive than surrounding places. It is out in the middle of nowhere though, be advised. Unless I got a great rate, probably wouldn't stay there again, but I would love to have dinner there again!

Stayed for two nights. Although limited English the staff were marvelous and very helpful. Arranged for good meals even though we couldn't understand the menu. The hotel is not close to any attractions but has a lovely rural setting and is very central to nearby towns. Main roads and rail very close. Do need a car if you are going here.

On Sunday night there were local musicians playing traditional music in the restaurant. A very comfortable hotel with a nice local feel.

In summer there would be good outside amenities.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and had a great stay. Rooms were spacious and had a connecting door. Food was very good and every little thing we asked for was answered with allot of care. They even found a babysitting solution for the kids so we could go out to dance at Freiburg one night. I strongly recommend the hotel.

Very nice setting, enchanted at night when you arrive. Large yet cozy restaurant. Very good food. Child friendly, many families. Helpful. They give advice and the tourist cad with lots of free stuff. 15 min walk to train to Freiburg. Or easy drive. Lots of things around, went skiing in Feldberg. One morning woke up to snow. Beautiful. Great breakfast. They do replenish it all the time contrary to some comments. Rooms are nicer than the photos. Our economical room was not the most modern, but charming and functional. Bathroom just a bit dated, but fine really.

As a road warrior, once in a blue moon, we happen on a hidden gem, and this was one of them. We set off on the "Coo Coo Clock" route, tracing the origins of the famous clocks and clockmakers. Visiting the small villages nestled in the Black Forest. Night was upon us and we needed a place for the night. A quick search on Trip Advisor sent us to the closest place (within the 4+ star rating) and we came across this fairytale of a place. It sits at the foothills surrounded by mountains, a ways back from the road. GPS took us winding through these houses in a village and then up this hillside, when we emerged from the trees, we found this majestic chalet all lite up! The service was so welcoming and cheery that we immediately felt like part of the family. The rooms are accommodating with nice views from the balcony. The decoration, the design, the food!!! All of it top notch. And then comes breakfast! If you are going to be in the area, make sure you stay here! Superb!

We booked this hotel to stay away from the rush of Freiburg. Its location is perfect, in a nice village, but be prepared to spend some twenty minutes ride to Freiburg and more, if you want to go to Titesee. If you want to relax, then this is the place! It has most of the amenities and characteristics to spend a relaxing vacation!
Our room was recently renovated and it smelled like "new". Other rooms are old style and not recommended. Our room size was average-minus. The balcony was very handy, if you want to spend a relaxing evening with a nice country view.
One annoying thing was the bathroom light which is activated by motion. You have to move once in a while, to keep it on. When you get out, you have to wait a few minutes until it switches off. Since the bathroom door is made of opaque glass, it may be a problem at night.
Breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant, where your table is reserved with a note with your name. Very nice and flattering.
We ate also dinner (menu), and found it to be a great experience, both culinary and ambiance.
WIFI is good and complementary.

Stayed two nights with two boys. Charming. One may challenge the 4 star rating. A few things would make it more service oriented as absolutely everything is charged. You forget your toothbrush, you get a spare one for 1.50€. You forget a power cord in the room. They will not send it to you before they receive the shipping expenses. You have only one soap for the shower and the washbasin. And you pay for a room at 4* rates. Come on...

This place will captivate you in many wonderful ways.

The staff could not be more friendly and helpful -- each person was absolutely a delight.

The restaurant could compete with the best in Paris, New York or any other major city. In fact, I'm going to find a way to get the recipe for the sauce that came with my pork. I almost went looking for an empty bottle to bring some home with me -- it was that good. I couldn't decide between the pork and a local fish dish, so the very nice waitress said she would be happy to bring me a half-order of each. How nice! And I'm glad she made the offer because both entree items were excellent (though I'd give a slight nod to the pork).

Breakfast the next morning was a lavish spread, and each item (fresh baked breads and rolls, a wide variety of jams, cheeses, breakfast meats, very fresh eggs, etc.) was excellent.

The rooms are about average overall -- they're clean and pleasant, with nice balconies overlooking the Black Forest. The restaurant area is much nicer, though, and the staff and restaurant are so good I simply must mention both yet again.

A very impressive place, and certainly should be your first choice if you're planning to stay in the southwestern section of the Black Forest.
