Stayed two nights in this quaint inn in the balcony room. Although the bathroom was small, it was clean and the bedroom was sufficient for my friend and me to spread out our luggage. The beds are on the firm side and the comforters are so warm we slept with the windows open so as to not get overheated. No elevator so carrying heavy luggage up two flights of stairs can be a challenge. Our rate included the breakfast buffet, which was convenient and tasty. The hotel is a quick 5 minute walk to public parking along the river and convenient to the K-B cruise boat. Although there is an active railroad nearby, we didn't hear the trains. Staff was friendly.

We could check in early and the room quality was very good as in the photos on Hotel website. The food was excellent. The cleaning service was perfect. The lobby staff gave us some information about the hight lighted place to visit. It was worth stay. Over all is good. We will come again.

We had a lovely second floor room overlooking the main street in Bacharach. In many towns this may have given us a problem with noise but Bacharach is very quiet so there were no issues. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and the buffet breakfast had everything we could have wanted. Its very central location and the availability of free parking nearby, as well as a little garage for our tandem, made this the perfect choice for our stay in Bacharach.

Hotel am markt bachrach Boy o boy!! One star experience throughout. This is the third Hotel on our Rick Steves tour. The first two were totally awesome (in Hamburg and Hann Münden). But not this one. Room 1A! To be fair, I believe most of the rooms are fine in this place. Some are gorgeous. There is a range of probably what we’d guess $80 to $299 rooms (in value). But if you are with the tour group, you are assigned a room, based on your age and physically capabilities. We are in our mid to late 50s, relatively young among this group. So we got sent up 4 flights of stairs, which is completely ok because we don’t mind walking/climbing. The problem is the room, or HALF of a room. Because only one half is high enough for an adult to stand up, the other half is not. Frankly speaking, this room should not have been in the pool of rooms to start with! Being young and fit should walk a little more, totally fine. But shouldn’t be the reason to be in a room for dorf. In addition, there is a faint sewage odor in the room, particularly around in the evening. Also the shower water temperature shifted between hot-cold-hot suddenly and unpredictably. The point is, this room should not be part of the tour group!! Luckily, we have fellow travelers came to rescue. They invited us to their quarters with patios, treated us with wine. As I’m writing this review, the wifi from the hotel is not working on a Wednesday night. Since the entire hotel staff is off on Wednesday from noon, there is no point of calling the from desk. Evidently, it is a local law that everyone closes shops on Wednesday afternoons, except cafes and restaurants.

The location is perfect, in the middle of town along a charming stretch of the main road. The room had a safe. Other than those positives, our 2-night stay was quite uncomfortable. There is no elevator, so we climbed with luggage up several floors (38 steps) on an old winding staircase. Each time we came and went, it was the same trudge, which is not what we expect after a long day of traveling. The bed had extremely heavy quilts that crushed you, so it was sleep without any bedding or be crushed. The pillows were very large and very hard, so you had a hard pillow down to the middle of your back, or you slept without one. The hotel is actually closed on Wednesdays (when we were there) so there is no staff around, and you come and go through a side door. And the breakfast consisted of cold eggs, no fresh pastry, and not much else worth eating. This accommodation was a low point of our Germany vacation.
