The apartment was ok, quite small but adequately furnished with a lovely little terrace. Unfortunately the airconditioning did not work, and it is really too hot there to sleep comfortably without. It was very very noisy late in the evening until the early hours of the morning: loud people in the buildings above and below, animazione and live music from all the campgrounds closeby. However, the grounds of Torre del Viole are lovely and very well-kept, the beach is easily accessible by a small hiking path and our hostess Antonia was very sweet and helpful. It is a nice place to have a holiday if you don’t mind a very lively Italian scene around you...
We stayed in 2 apartments in close proximity to one another. They were very clean and comfortable with all of the amenities that you would require for self catering. There was a pool and play/barbecue area on site with washing machine facilities should you need them. The residence in close to the beach and within easy walking to the town and shopping/supermarket facilities as well as numerous eating places.
Overall we were satisfied with the apartment but only because we were able to change to one of the upper level apartments. The lower level apartments have no view of the sea. I thought the description and the information about the apartments was unclear and we rented a two bedroom apartment thinking that would be the one with the view only to find it was not. The apartment was somewhat hard to find but the staff were very helpful when we called and came to the point we had reached and guided us to the grounds. The pool is nice and the beach below the grounds that is reached by a path is very nice. We enjoyed the town and had some good fish dinners there. We would return to this apartment if we came back to the area.
Marina di Camerota is far more resorty than we like. It's quite busy and touristy. It's quite a good base for trips to paestum, the Amalfi coast and Cliento National Park. The self catering residence we stayed in was very clean, very well equipped (best self catering appartment I have stayed in), and had a nice view of the sea (if you could overlook the other appartments directly in front of the room). However, nice as the appartment was, this complex of appartments was pretty big, and full of children. The appartment is one of 8 appartments, but these 8 appartments share the complex with many many others. There was one nicely kept but small swimming pool in the centre. If you are looking for a fun holiday for the kids in Italy, this would be a great place to go. However, it's very noisy until quite late (about 11pm) and full of children, so couples stay away (unless of course you like both these things!)! Not the most romantic place to go!…
