Our visit to Puglia would not have been complete without a stay at Le Alcove. From the guest services desk to the morning breakfast buffet we were treated extremely well. We especially enjoyed our morning breakfasts where Mikhala (I'm so sorry I don't know how to spell her name) treated us to freshly squeezed orange juice and great cappuccinos among the plethora of other wonderful breakfast items. She also gave us insightful information about the area. Her English was excellent and she was a delight to talk to. Sleeping in a trullo is a must if you're visiting this area. And ours was beautifully appointed and comfortable. Plus Alberobello is a UNESCO site worthwhile visiting as trulli are in abundance in the countryside. It's truly charming (....no pun intended)
We were booked here as part of our cycle trip. Le alcove is tucked away behind the main square and there was a lovely warm and helpful welcome, given we were two hot and sweaty cyclists! The room is in a trulli and is beautifully decorated and fitted. Drinks in the mini bar are complementary. Tea making facilities too, for a change! Breakfast excellent- they scramble the eggs not using milk but with local olive oil which transforms them! Good bike lock up and a late (noon) check out make this a great place to stay. You are not in the centre of the trulli part, but actually that’s very touristy, so we were glad to be apart. Highly recommended.
We were greeted with such warmth. The door was open. The receptionist speaks great English. She helped book us a reservation for 8. She had fresh fruit in our rooms. Our room is beautiful and spacious. Big bathroom. Curtains very cute!! While we were at dinner, our bed was turned down, bathroom cleaned and restocked and fridge restocked with waters. The fruit was removed and beautiful pastries were in its place!! An exception place!
Le Alcove, Alberbello, Puglia, Italy - Stayed in Room 1, right off the front lobby entrance and front courtyard area of the hotel. This room was very spacious and certainly convenient. It comes with some drawbacks however: wi-fi was very much lacking/slow/constantly dropping signal; tv only offered Italian channels, no international channels. The tv is a older style and small – don’t expect flat screen here. The room could be noisy at times due to its location near the front door or mainly exposed to the front of the hotel and off the street. The most frustrating and irritating thing is it only has a tub with hand held shower and no where to place shampoos and soap and you can be assured it’s very difficult to take a proper shower in this room. You will find water all over the bathroom when you are done. The bed coverings while clean and comfortable – need to be updated to a more modern look perhaps. Towels and bath amenities were fine. Bath amenities were L’Occitaine over the course of my stay. - Stayed in Room 3, behind Room 1 the next night and off the inner courtyard and breakfast room, it was nice, loft like, this bathroom had an enclosed shower which was far more comfortable and useful for me. The bedding again could afford to be updated a bit to a more luxury look and feel. I enjoyed this room more – although you do have sound/noise from outside – it wasn’t disturbing and that is the nature of the trulli accommodation. - Service from the front desk was very lovely, they could offer to assist with luggage however for the category and price point they put themselves in. But they made lovely recommendations. English seemed to be a bit more limited than say in a hotel in Rome. So knowing a little Italian can help. But they were lovely people. - Breakfast service was very lovely, fresh cooked eggs and meats, cheeses and other items – I enjoyed their offerings and presentation. Breakfast room is small but very effective. - Would I stay again – yes. I would seek the advice of a travel advisor professional to ensure that you reserve the room that is going to be best for me. - The location of Le Alcove is perfect – great for walking and exploring Alberobello. Not sure about their parking situation there, as I was using car services to explore during the day. But you can walk right through the town easily – very convenient to shops, restaurants, bars and pedestrian areas, small park. - All rooms are spacious, the bathrooms too, but the shower facilities are small. Keep in mind you are staying in a trulli so each room is unique and likely historical – so there is some slight noise, but very clean and well kept. Dates of stay: 2018 November 22-24…
The trull which we stayed was excellent, very big and luxurious. There was a coffee machine and staff was very helpful. They brought us small delicacies almost every day. They served the room twice per day. The bathroom was equipped of Ferragamo amenities. Breakfast was excellent and of very good quality. Very nice hotel although it was quite expensive 250 euros for a double room but It was centrally located in the heart of the town of Alberobello.
