If you are on a driving tour, and have an afternoon to do something extravagant that you'll never do anywhere else in the world, take the long drive up to this over-the-top elegant fairy tale hotel/palace. set in the middle of the National Forest. Splurge and have lunch in the circular fine frescoed dining room - elegant soups, salads, entrees,... More

An impressive place, decorated as a palace, big... Immense actually. The grounds are meticulously tendered by an army of gardeners, really nice. Situated in a national forest and offers peace and quiet. The rooms are dated, the furniture is old, seen better days many years ago but if you spend most of the hours away then no issue. Breakfast is... More

This was my second visit and I felt about the hotel the same as I did last time: Extraordinary building, awesome, actually and lovely gardens (It behooves you to arrive with plenty of daylight so you can go exploring.) but the rooms are minimal although adequate. Apparently, having read some of the earlier reviews, there must be quite a difference... More

We spent one night at the Bussaco Palace hotel and we wished we could have stayed at least an extra night. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food and service at the hotel restaurant were impeccable. The Palace is unbelievably beautiful and we spent many hours wandering the palace and gardens, hiking up to the viewpoint at the... If you are interested in visiting historic properties and are in this part of Portugal, consider staying for a night. If you are not interested in finding out it is not the Ritz-Carlton, drive on. The Palace is late 19th century luxury that had a mid-20th century buffing up. We loved it, but not for the obvious reasons. First off,... More

The hotel is quite magical, it having an historic and interesting history which attracts tourists simply to admire its gothic style architecture. Parts of the hotel have undergone much needed restoration that appears to be on-going. The rooms are reasonably basic but are in keeping with the atmosphere of the hotel. The restaurant is excellent, as is their menu and... More

We stayed on October 8, 2016 in room 25. This is no 5 star accommodation! We had no warm water in our wash basin in the morning and the rest of the bathroom was in a bad condition - mould on the walls, warn-off tiles and water temperature irregular. There was no full length mirror in the room or bathroom,... More

We did not enter for we did not know about this wonderful place. We learned that it costs only 150 euro for one night. We enjoyed the view, the gardens and all that one can see from the outside So I promise to my self if we came back it will be on my list.

Well, this is a kind of place that you have to go before you die. Very elegant, the staff is amazing, and the place itself... But of course it's not perfect, the hotel needs a renovation urgently. It's almost decadent is some areas, I didn't feel mood inside the hotel, but I saw mood in the roof and in the... More
