I can’t imagine a better host than Pedro is! From the first moment until the end, I felt so welcome and very comfortable! The warm, attentive, courteous and generous hospitality is amazing! The hostel is a beautiful oasis of well-being with attention to detail! Everything is very clean, well-equipped and tastefully designed. Freshly squeezed orange juice and lemons from the trees in the beautiful garden, a wonderful terrace with an amazing view, a barbeque with the delicious meat from the best butcher….to name just a few things that made my stay the crowning conclusion of my 9 month trip! There couldn’t have been a better one and a better place to complete my time out. I can’t thank you enough Pedro! I sincerely wish you that you’ll have a full house again soon, after this difficult time! From the bottom of my heart, I wish you the very best and hope to visite your small paradise again soon!

Pedro is a backpacker and an experienced traveler and just opened his hostel in the very authentic village of Pinhão in the heart of the Douro Valley. This is not your average hostel. We booked the private room and bathroom and totally enjoyed the hostel experience. Pedros moms flan cake with wine and port after dinner on the rooftop terrace with an amazing view and Pedro and other guests was fantastic after the authentic Portuguese dinner at a restaurant Pedro recommended. And caped off the day and night in this great town. If you don’t think you can stay in a hostel you should consider Pedros.

We were so pleased to have booked this place for our two night stay in Pinhão. Opened recently, it shows a level of planning and implementation that is designed to ensure that guests have a wonderful stay. We booked a double room with private bathroom; it was spacious, spotless and well set out. At ground level there is a communal kitchen and dining area, with everything guests could need. In addition there is an upper terrace and garden providing the perfect communal dining/chilling/ bbq area. Pedro, the owner, receptionist, cleaner.... has a great philosophy and is a pleasure the spend time with.

A great place to stay while exploring the Douro Valley. Perfectly situated near the centre and the railway station. Clean rooms, good kitchen and dining room facilities, a wonderful roof terrace. Above all Pedro is a great host!

Hostel Douro Backpackers is recently opened and an excellent place for our overnight in Pinhau. The space is excellent - modern fittings, spotlessly clean and great facilities. Pedro was an exceptional host - open, welcoming, informed and a genuine global citizen. Not part of the plan before we arrived - but we had a very enjoyable evening joining the other guests and Pedro (despite injury!) for a traditional Portuguese meal in a favoured local restaurant - absolutely noone left hungry! Highly recommended!
