Hotel very well located, in front of the beach, just separated from it by the train line; however has a private access tunnel to the beach. Although it is a five-star hotel requires some updates. Staff super friendly and attentive to our needs. Whenever I asked for something for my 3-year-old daughter was taken care of, except that on the last day there were no vegetable yogurts at breakfast). The reception area is beautiful at this time of year, all embellished with the magic of Christmas: NICE!
Breakfast: was good, but would ask for more than a five-star hotel. There was only one machine to make pancakes on the weekend, why not every day? They should have a season to prepare something on time (starred eggs, pancakes, crepes). Little bread variety and no gluten-free options, as well as little variety in the fruit that was always the same. My congratulations for the existence of various vegetable beverage options (ave, soy, rice, almond).
The outdoor pool needs to be cleaned, because despite being winter, being heated and on a sunny day can be used.
Indoor pool with good ambient, although water could be a little warmer. Floor of the indoor pool very slippery. Great welness area, with the extra of having a dryer of bathrobes, bikinis and toucas (mandatory in the indoor pool). Turkish bath, laconium, ice zone sauna, steam bath. Otherwise, there are separate welness zones for men and women, which prevents us from enjoying it as a family.
Gym: of the most complete I've seen to date. Really fantastic. And it's best if it opens at 7 a.m. I trained alone to see the beach.
Hotel has a toy room, however it needs to be updated, with old toys and parties. The room was always closed, and it was necessary to request a key to be opened.
Rooms a little hot, but nothing that the air conditioning couldn't solve. In my opinion they need more illumination. WC with dryer, shampoo, gel and others (cotton sheets, sheets, bathtub, soap, sewing kit).
Hotel has bicycles, however they are a little outdated, and it would be important to provide children's chairs to put in them, as a family with a small child, we could not use them.
Super quiet hotel, with super relaxing atmosphere, I also believe for the time we went.

The staff here are mostly friendly, perhaps a little stiff. The rooms are clean, the mattresses on the bed were too hard for me, and I didn't think a sheet with a blanket to cover you was the best solution either. You share the balcony with your neighbors, separated by a ribbed pane of glass. If you have chain smokers as neighbors, you can't leave your balcony door open, the smoke gets everywhere. The bath towel service is good. With a card you get a new one every day. You can only use the indoor pool with a swimming cap, so we didn't. The outdoor pool is heated, but has seen better days. We thought that the area needed to be more clean and tidy. There were often empty glasses, dishes and rubbish lying around. With the manpower that the hotel seemed to have, it would be easy to get rid of such things. I would give the loungers two stars at most. In general, the hotel is a little old, even though I was very impressed with the entrance area, air-conditioned, carpet, sofas, decorations, very pretty. Breakfast is served in an incredibly uncomfortable "hall" where you are greeted and seated. The selection was varied, but not everything tasted good, for example the scrambled eggs were not fried long enough. The solids were in a runny egg mixture. I can't eat that. Croissants and fresh fruit were great. Anyway, the buffet is always the same. The selection of cold cuts is small and difficult over two weeks. We also didn't like the fact that access to the beach from the hotel is blocked after 8:30 p.m. You weren't allowed into the outdoor pool area either. Oh well...

I used to come to the Hotel del Sol Verde with my parents when I was little. For six or seven consecutive years, this place was our favorite vacation destination, so I have many memories of this hotel. My criticism focuses on some changes that I have noticed since then and that, in my opinion, have not been for the best.
The indoor pool, for example, is colder than it used to be. I clearly remember it was a warm pool, perfect for relaxing no matter the season, but now the temperature is below 29 degrees.
Finally, breakfast has changed both place and style. Before, it was served in a cozier lounge and waiters served you at the table, serving you fresh coffee. Breakfast is now offered in a less attractive lounge and the service is completely self-catering. I understand this may be a measure to better manage the number of guests, but it has affected the experience I used to enjoy.
Overall, while Hotel SolVerde continues to have certain points in favor, I have seen a slight deterioration in several aspects since my last visit, which is disappointing for those of us who have fond memories of times gone by.

Its a good hotel with decent rooms, good breakfast, and a well stocked bar but we were surprised that there was no tea/coffee facility in the room, no ironing table, and - most of all - only one charging point! The standing lamp and TV shared one connection and you could have one or the other, leaving the room dim! One wonders how this is a 5 star rated hotel!
That said, there is ample (free) parking space. The smoking lounge between the bar and restaurant is very convenient. One particular barman was delightful and made up for some of the inconveniences. The restaurant and front office staff should learn from him: a request to enter for breakfast 10 minutes before the opening hour was denied despite almost everything being laid out!

Top notch 5-Star hotel friendly & professional front office staff great location super inside & outside pool area attentive staff, the General Manager runs an extremely professional staff and certainly knows how to make you feel welcomed she always pops up in the right place at the right time whenever needed. Nice buffet breakfast served by staff because of Covid restrictions, rooms could do with an upgrade in style. Because of Covid-19 however the Spa was closed this was not a big problem for us, I would recommend this hotel.

Location is very far from Porto or nice restaurants. Frustrating to get actual roads to go to town. Decoration is really, really outdated. Not 5-star hotel at all. Not at this century, at least. But, for me, the worst is positioning itself as luxury and charging EUR 6 to have two plates delivered at the room as 'room service charge'. I should have bought plates on Amazon...

What a superb place. The hotel is nice, not far from the beach and connected to the boardwalk that provides a great walk to the nearest town. The rooms we had were clean and tidy and the food and wine was really good but this place was special, really special, because of the staff. They were superb. Reception, porters, restaurant, bars, all were helpful, service was great. We were touring on motorbikes and had a problem with one of them which was soon sorted due to the positive help and assistance given. We had a really great experience and enjoyed some great humorous banter with some of the staff whose English was brilliant (just as well as only one of us knew one or two words of Portugese!). We also liked the fact that the hotel was well outside Porto where we encountered some absolutely horrendous gridlock.

The staff is very friendly in a hotel next to the sea where this is the fourth time we have gone. The indoor pool is magnificent with warm salt water with the sauna next to it. The breakfast has been losing quality and is more typical of a 3-star hotel. It makes up for the price-quality ratio in a standard room.

First of all, the way they have the breakfast prepared during the covid is just awful. You have to wait one long line for only one of the servers to serve you the food, and you have to wait the same long line even if you want to grab a glass of water!!! Furthermore, the servers take their time to serve the food even though they can see the long length of the line. The process of grabbing your breakfast is just too slow and it can sometimes end with your patience. I have gone to many other hotels and this one is the one with the worst way of serving breakfast during the pandemic. Furthermore, for the lunch and dinner they only have available a menu of the day instead of a full menu which I think that at a 5star hotel this shouldn’t be acceptable even in covid conditions.
This is not my first stay at solverde hotel and therefore I can say that it has had such a downgrade that I would no longer consider it a 5 star hotel. They have to change the breakfast problem or I will not comeback any time soon. Unfortunately,I really do not recommend this hotel due to the reasons just commented above.
However, some of the staff is actually really nice and they treat the clients in a really nice way. The rooms are big and comfortable as well, and the facilities it possesses are amazing.

Dear Linda
The hotel is divided into two wings. The North wing with 6 floors. From the rooms you have view over the swimming pool towards Espinho. To the right you can see the Atlantic Ocean. You have sun almost until late afternoon.
The southern wing has 4 floors - facing the Atlantic Ocean. You can see Espinho to the left/south. These rooms are cooler - it can be an advantage during the warm periods in the summer time.
Have a nice stay - I just left the very nice hotel yesterday after 12 perfect days.
You can read my report written 30th July 2018.
You can bring children, but he hotel is not really children friendly. At this time of the year the beach and the water will be too cold. The pool is heated, but there are several rules of conduct that ensure swimming or low-key dipping only. There is also an indoor pool. I didn't use it, but I would same conduct rules there too.
Breakfast was included in the room price. We didn't lunch, but had dinner. The food wa good at average prices for hotels of this category. The head waiter has good value for money local wine recommendations. Follow his advice.
We had rented car out of Porto, which made it easy. In particular if you wish see some sights. There isn't much in the area.
You need to walk a bit to find a beach from where to swim. The Atlantic can be pretty cold to some. At this time of year ca. 18-19C.
The pools are free and very good! Also for a good swim, not just a dip.
Enjoy you stay. My wife and I would be happy to return!
