We stayed for a week in the middle of May as an RCI exchange holiday to utilise some point we had amassed throughout the lock down period. This was just about all that was available.
The place was great and quiet. The bar and restaurant were not open and we were a little disappointed to say the least. There is a bar (The Golf) about 100yds down the road which served excellent meals and drinks in a great location. We were hoping that the pool bar was open but this was not to be.
The reception was open when we arrived but was very laid back with little little effort to offer us information and assistance when asked. We did ask for a peg so we could use the room safe but we were told that if the power went off, we wouldn't be able to get back into the safe after 17.00 as the reception would be closed. We also asked for a pool towel and were informed that they didn't rent these out any more. It just appeared that they couldn't be bothered although.
Our room was overlooking the roadway and not the pool/golf course so our view wasn't that spectacular. The apartment was large and the aircon in the bedroom worked but you had to keep the curtains closed so the sun didn't warm the room up too much in the morning. The place was very quiet with only a few people around the pool during the week which overall was great. The whole complex was tired and needed a good clean externally or re-painting. The fixtures and fittings in the apartment were at the end of their life with a couple of holes in the laminate worktops and the sliding patio doors just operated with some difficulty. The television was basic and we could only get it to show Spanish programmes but at least this was not what we went on holiday for. All of the rubbish from the apartment had to be placed in a skip in the carpark on the street and this was overflowing and wasn't exchanged all week. The room however was cleaned three times during the week we were there which we found a little excessive but still good.
From discussions with other guests we found that most of the apartments were now privately owned and the complex only owned about 17 of them. Perhaps this explains the lack of interest from reception.
Overall a great week was had in a dated but clean apartment and the weather was fantastic. The Golf restaurant nearby made the stay even better

The resort is located just a few kilometres from Fuengirola and surrounded by a golf club. The apartments are huge with large bathrooms and bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens with dishwasher, a large fridge, range and oven, and a very nice living and dining room. The balcony is also very large, with a table and an unobstructed view of the swimming pool, resort grounds and adjacent golf course. The bedrooms have air conditioning. The weak points are the underground garage which is full of columns that require an inordinate number of maneuvering to enter or leave the parking spots and an incredibly steep and curvy access ramp, and the poor WiFi network.

It was disappointing to find supposedly amenities none existent. Restaurant, indoor pool, sauna, gym and pool bar all closed. The pictures on RCI and other sites are really false advertising and needs updating. Lovely little resort over looking the golf course. Not suitable for disabled or people who have walking problems as there are lots of steps.
Really need a car to get about as the resort is way out from things like shops especially if need groceries. There is a bus which leaves from outside the resort but only runs about every 2 hours to
Fuengirola.
There is a nice bar/restaurant El Golf just down the road but that is about it. Did try another one a little bit further on but was by an old river bed with lots of rubbish and flies.
The only bonus was we got an upgrade to a three bedroom apartment which was better for us.

DISSAPOINTED. We travelled in March and upon arrival were informed that all internal amenities were closed. The week we stayed we had three days of rain and on each occasion the bedroom was flooded due to leaking windows. Bedding had to be replaced on one occasion the water damage was so severe.
We later learned that management were aware of the problem.

Our apartment was rather tired and bits were literally held together with sticking plaster. A faulty door lock which threatened to leave us stranded every time we went out did not make for relaxing evenings out, not least because the reception closed at 6pm & was shut for 3 days of the week. The big disappointment was our balcony which was above the car park, next to a road & overlooked the AP7motorway. Our request to be moved met with a somewhat unsympathetic response!
In summary, you need to get lucky: if you get a refurbished unit that overlooks the swimming pool & golf course (and a door lock that works reliably!) your experience would be very different.

The resort is run down. The amenities are all closed except two pools. There is no air conditioning in the second bedroom of the two bedroom unit. There are no clothes dryers. The parking is on the street and hard to find. All in all, not a good experience at all.

Nearby golf, beaches and many towns and Historical Villages made for great outings with grand Vistas.
The restaurant and lounge served great food and drink at reasonable prices. El Golf restaurant down the street was also excellent and walk to. Uber or car rental is required to enjoy this locality.

Superb complex with beautiful gardens and swimming pool over looking the majestic Mijas golf . It’s been a family favourite for years. Good gym and indoor pool for rainy days and superb full size snooker table . You need a car to get out and about . The appartment was really spacious and bright and had a lovely roof terrace . I love this resort .

Two weeks ago, on March 9, 2013, after a long flight from the United States, my husband and I and two friends checked into the Matchroom Country Club impressed and excited to be visiting Spain and looking forward to an amazing week. We had no idea we were walking into an unsafe, unsecure, frightening place.
Unit 51, a top floor penthouse, looked cozy and comfortable enough - a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit with a balcony leading up to a rooftop deck. We found the safe in the bedroom closet, and quickly stowed our passports and other valuables. During the day, everything was locked up. But during the night, we had no idea strangers would enter our room.
We checked in on a Saturday night, and Wednesday morning we realized we had been robbed during the night while we were sleeping. Tuesday night we went to bed with all the doors locked (the front door has a keycard), including the door out to the balcony, which can only be locked and unlocked from the inside with a key. Wednesday morning we discovered that our belongings in the livingroom were gone. My Canon EOS Rebel T1i DSLR digital camera was taken, along with cash out of my wallet. My friend's credit cards and cash were gone, along with her allergy meds, and her husband's entire wallet was taken. They carefully went through our bags, took everything of value, then zipped up our wallets, placed them back in our bags and carefully closed them.
We rushed straight down to talk to the manager, Helen. Helen questioned why our personal belongings were not put in the safe while were sleeping, which we were never told to do upon check-in. She told us the thieves were professional and offered us the phone to call the police station, then sent us on our way.
We spent an hour at the Fuengirola police station, which was kind to us, but not pressed to investigate the case. They did generate a police report, and a very nice, British retiree was in the station to help translate and read the document to us. Without his help and direction, we would have struggled with this process. Thank you kindly, sir.
The manager at Matchroom took a copy of the police report and offered us a different room, which we declined, because at that point we had nothing of value and were almost inviting the punks to come back and try it again. We requested no one, absolutely no one, be allowed into our room. The next day while we were gone, we had physical evidence (we purposely arranged items, and found they had been moved) that someone had again been in our unit. The manager said it was the police coming to dust for fingerprints and they were there for 5-10 minutes, and she did not accompany them. We did not see black fingerprint dust and how thorough could they have been in 5 minutes?
After 3 more nights sleeping with one eye open, the night before leaving we asked what the manager could do for us to help make this horrible situation better. She said there was nothing. And then we were gone.
What has happened to treating guests like they matter? We felt violated and unsafe at night. The best part of being there was not being there. We were not offered a free stay, not even a free meal. We are convinced our room was entered using a key card. I am trying to contact Heritage Resorts now to follow up with them, as key card entry is recorded in a computer system, and I would like to see that report.
We feel sad, violated and ruined. Spain was beautiful, but I would never wish this upon anyone. We worked so hard, saved up so much, to take this trip.

It's 25 mins from Malaga airport. The resort has no shuttle service. As it is 5km from town (Fuingerola) you would be best with a hire car.
