Hotel Son Matias Beach garners praise for its stunning location, with guests enjoying easy access to the beach and nearby amenities, along with beautiful sea views from modern rooms equipped with balconies. While the atmosphere caters to an older demographic with specific entertainment choices, the cleanliness and service quality receive consistent commendation. However, some visitors question the value, pointing to high prices and additional costs for certain amenities like sunbeds. Despite the commendable room features, a few reviewers have raised concerns about soundproofing and air conditioning.

In 55 years i had never had the oppurtunity to visit Majorca but having done so in JUly with a group of friends for a short break I decided to come back 4 weeks later but this time with my wife. Having scouted the resort out I came across the Hotel Son Matias Beach which turned out to be an inspried choice.
As the name may siggest the hotel is located right on the Son Matias beachfront, for easy access there is a card controlled gate in the pool area giving access to the beach. This made its location ideal as we were able to chill by the pool for an hour or so, nip through the gate for a sea for a swim and a paddle and then return straight to the poolside having used the hotels outdoor showers to freshen up - tick no 1 !
The hotel is adults only which was important to us as being August we wanted somewhere we could relax without tripping up over blow up unicorns and arm bands, don't get me wrong wrong we enjoy a family holiday but this trip was intended for some quality time for us, children free - tick no2 !
The rooms are very well appointed and modern with everything you would need during your stay, all of the handy bits were there such a hot drink making facilities, a fridge which the hotel can stock for you for an additional charge, a hairdryer that actually dries hair but the best bit was our balcony. We were lucky to have one of the rooms which opened up onto their first floor sun deck so not only did we have a table and chairs (which all rooms have) but we also had 2 lounge chairs and also 2 sun loungers. This was great for grabbing a few rays at the start and end of the day - tick no3 !
As lucky as we were to have the above room every single room in the hotel has a sea view and a small balcony so you dont have the extra cost of selecting one you do with many other hotels - tick no4 !
We took the bed and breakfast package but for travellers who like to control their budget more half and full board are also offered. All of the food we had including snacks from the pool bar were tasty and good value - tick no5 !
We are so happy to have found this hotel as we know we will return many times in the future as it ticks all of the boxes that are important to us on our breaks and looking at how many other repeat visitors they have we are not the first to have come to that conclusion.
And i haven't even mentioned the chilling bottle of Cava they kindly left in our room my birthday and our anniversary......... thank you.

Hotel is very close to the beach and the bus stops to Palma and other resorts on the coast. There are a number of restaurants near to the hotel for lunchtime snacks and evening meals. However, some did close during the last week of October so don't expect everywhere to be open if you go at that time. Also, prices seemed a little high, so for those looking for value it maybe worthwhile opting for the full board option at the hotel.

We chose the bed & breakfast option and there was a wide variety of food available, which was regularly topped up. Even though the hotel was due to close in early November, there was still a wide variety of choices available and service was excellent throughout.

The room was a good size, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. The tea & coffee making facilities, complete with mini fridge, were an added bonus. WiFi was free too. The design of the hotel is great as each room has a balcony that looks over the beach & sea. The only negative we found is a lack of soundproofing between rooms as we could sometimes hear people talking in the room next door, but it was generally quiet at night.

The staff in Reception were very helpful and informative, with notices about service time changes, public bus services etc.

We didn't use the pool area but there appeared to be a good number of loungers and it looked clean & tidy. There was entertainment each night and during the day but we didn't really see much of this as we were often out for the day or went out to eat at night. We did use the hotel bar once but it had limited choices and no Mallorcan beers or wines by the glass.

Hotel recommended by friends as we have never been to Palma Nova before. First impressions we excellent. Majorca has introduced a Tourist Tax which wasn't mentioned by TUI is collected by reception ( €3.30 per person per day during May to end september reduced outside of these time)) Easy check-in by Keith who was very helpful at all times. Room key was also a charge card so you could pay for your drinks and snacks at the end of the stay (also daily if you wish). Room was on the 5th floor overlooking the pool and a lovely beach. (all rooms have a sea view) Room was very clean with lots of storage room, air conditioned which was fully adjustable. TV on wall although no UK channels, Balcony with table and chairs. Walk-in shower with bath robes nice towels also pool towels were supplied, a full range of complementarily bathroom essentials inc hairdryer. Kettle and a mini fridge in room (bottle of water and small milk in fridge). There is a safe deposit box but there is a charge for this. A iron and board is available from reception for 24 hours with a €30 fully refundable deposit.
We informed staff it was our wedding anniversary during our stay and a bottle of bubbly and card was delivered to the room. (Nice touch) Evening meal is between 18:00 and 20:30. Food was OK but a small selection. Pool is not heated and small. Pool bar was very good with a selection of freshly cooked food with snacks and drinks served by very friendly and helpful bar staff. Evening entertainment was good and varied and bar was fully stocked, served by a very helpful Darren (drinks to tables was available if required).
The sandy beach is very clean and is accessed during the day via a gate by the pool bar. Return access again during the day is via the same gate with use of your room key. Promenade was flat and level but if you want to go to Magaluf beach there is a steep hill. Lovely walks along the prom to the left of the hotel with plenty of shops and bars for a stop on your walks. Hotel is not really a young persons hotel. Most of the cliental was in the retirement ++ age bracket but most were well behaved (haha) and most are returning customers, maybe not suited to the hen/stag parties.

This was our first time staying at this hotel we checked in on line before arrival and it was very quick and efficient our room suite was on a high level as we requested it was spotlessly clean and the sea views were breathtaking. Breakfast was lovely had everything you could ask for from full English to continental we booked bed and breakfast as we like to try different restaurants so can’t comment on dinner we ate by the pool bar each day which was lovely we had the salads, burgers, toasted sandwiches and the Pizzas all delicious. Only thing was you had to sign to pay after every time getting a drink would have been nice to just pay at the finish of the meal instead but minor niggle. The pool area was kept clean and we managed to get a bed each morning by joining the queues at 9-15 am waiting for the doors to open at 9-30 this was only complaint people wanting front of queue for the exact same beds everyday were sat there at 7-30am! This shouldn’t be allowed in my opinion. The hotel has a great location on the beach with lots of great restaurants a short walk away also we got a taxi some nights to ones further away but we did struggle a couple of nights to get one we could have got the bus if we had wanted bus stop just over the road. We caught some of the evening entertainment which was good some better than others. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back again without hesitation.

I visited in July 2024 with my cousin for a girly getaway (aged 41 and 50)
We were given a 7th floor room facing the sea with absolutely stunning views.
Rooms are very clean, spacious, on arrival we had milk and water in the fridge which was a lovely touch, very comfortable beds, television with many English channels, large bathroom with walk in shower. Room was cleaned daily, fresh towels each day etc.
As others have said, the air conditioning is set to 21/22 degrees in all rooms, which wasn't as cold as other hotels I have stayed in, however it was 38 degrees outside and therefore the rooms always felt very cool and comfortable compared to the hot outside temperature.
The hotel itself is wonderful, incredibly clean and welcoming, Keith on reception was so kind and friendly, Julie the entertainment manager was fun and tried to get everyone involved in activities each day, all staff were very helpful and although we were first time visitors, we were treated exactly the same as the other returning clients.
We had breakfast each day, wonderful selection of hot food, pastries, fruit, bread, cheeses, everything you could want for a breakfast.
We were able to sit inside or outside at breakfast and so was everyone else, no restrictions.
Yes, some of the guests are the older generation, however this is an adults only hotel, no under 16’s and therefore it appeals to an older cliental, however plenty of other ages, young couples, friends, etc, we felt very comfortable with everyone and the peace and quiet it allowed throughout the hotel.
The pool area was very busy however we always managed to get 2 sunbeds somewhere, although we enjoyed the tranquillity of sitting on our balcony each day and enjoying the morning sunshine.
Our Jet2 transfer picked us up at 7am on the day of departure and the hotel opened a small room with bread, cakes, cheese, tea, coffee, juice etc for guests to have breakfast who were checking out of the hotel early, amazing!
I would definitely return to this hotel again.

We stayed here on a b&b basis. It was our first time to this hotel and a warm welcome awaited at reception. We did check in early and our room was ready.
Super clean bedroom as is all the hotel. The view from the balcony overlooking the beach is fabulous.
Breakfast was ok and cava served on a Sunday which was a lovely holiday treat.
It’s a great location for everything that Palma Nova has to offer.
The queues for the sun beds around the pool does start very early. Pandemonium ensues with everyone scrambling for beds, laying their towels down and then going for breakfast! Thankfully the hotel is located on the beautiful beach opposite.
Be sure to visit the famous burger bar on site which is open til late and reasonably priced.
Mainly older guests which keeps the relaxed quiet atmosphere.
Can’t wait to return.

Short term planning a 4 day break in Palmanova we chose the Son Matias Beach hotel, and we were not disappointed! This was my first trip to Majorca (my good lady had been many times previously) and again I wasn’t disappointed!

From arriving to leaving we enjoyed every aspect the hotel had to offer us. Opted for B&B as we like to go out and about for dinner, but breakfast time was a very pleasant experience with everything we needed. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The suite was functional, and absolutely spotless…. and the balcony views over the beach and bay were absolutely stunning, and sunrise was jaw dropping!

We’re not pool people but at breakfast watching guests queue to from 07:30 for the pool area to open at 09:30 was comical and I even saw exchanged words as one old man through another old man had pushed in! I’m sorry but I have better things to do on holiday than queue up for a sun lounger but I have to say the hotel have this aspect well under control and stops guests dumping towels at 06:00hrs.

Son Matias beach…… wow! Pure white sand, crystal clear turquoise/blue sea, and stunning views - perfect! Sun lounger cost is €19:50 for two loungers and the big straw parasol, and is a cash transaction.

The reception team were always there with a smile to answer any questions - thank you so much!

Plenty to do in the area - bars, cafes, restaurants so you should not be at a loss, and the town is clean and tidy.

Thank you to all at Son Matias Bech hotel for looking after us!

We stayed here as a couple for 7 nights. The rooms was lovely and clean and the view over the beach fantastic. Our room and balcony got the morning sun and we could hear the waves from the sea when the balcony doors were open. The hotel has a strictly no smoking policy for all areas in the hotel including the balconies which is something we looked for before booking as many a holiday has been spoilt by smokers on adjacent balconies or around the pool in other hotels. The staff were friendly and helpful and the wi-fi was very good. We had a kettle in the room (although the only thing offered was coffee and tea) a very cold fridge which had a bottle of water and a carton of milk on arrival, and a hair dryer in the bathroom. After the first night we asked reception for a mattress topper as we found the beds a little hard and it was done within a few hours. The main reason I have marked the hotel down is the food experience. We paid for half board but as both myself and my partner have food allergies we didn’t feel that we got value for money. Whilst the staff were keen to assist there was very limited choice for us in contrast to the choice everyone else had, for my partner either salad or chips on one occasion. We were also offered the choice of the same two puddings every night which were shop bought and we felt not much effort was made by the kitchen to make more inventive meals or deserts for us. We also had to tell the front of house staff at every meal even though we had filled out an allergy form on our first day. This had to be done in front of other customers. We also had the experience of our food allergies being shouted across the restaurant between staff members and having to repeatedly ask about allergies. It would be much easier if the main food allergies were marked on the buffet labels. We had emailed the hotel about the allergies before we arrived but didn’t receive a reply. If they could sort this issue they would get a much higher score as the cleanliness, location and general atmosphere were all excellent.

Had a relaxing week away in this hotel in the last week of September. Rooms are modern, clean & all have a lovely view of the beach. Breakfast was fabulous with a great choice ( buffet style) All staff were helpful and friendly and the rooms were cleaned to a very high standard. Pool opened at 9.30, there was always a queue for the sunbeds but we always managed to get a couple. The hotel is in a prime location with an easy walk to bars and restaurants. This hotel caters for mainly retirees who come back year after year as they know a good thing when they see it. We are in our 50s and will definitely be coming back to stay at this hotel.
Thanks for a lovely holiday and experience.

Check in was really easy, young lady who checked us in was lovely and welcoming. I refused to leave my passport overnight and this was accepted and given back within 15 mins. After we arrived at the hotel I noted a email to give option to check in from home . THE ROOM was lovely and clean . The best part was definitely the view when we walked out into the balcony. Absolutely gorgeous. I enquired about an iron and was told a deposit of €30 which was fine. I went to collect and a different receptionist ( young Chinese lady ) snapped at me that I had to pay €30 . I told her I already had it in my hand . Rude ! The iron board was about the length of my arm , no legs on it . Just laid it on the bed, which was fine . THE FOOD. Well the first morning it was passable 🙄 The next day the breakfast room reminded me of a retirement home and we decided to eat breakfast out from then on . THE POOL opened at 09.30. The older guests waited from 07.30 in a side seated area. When the staff opened the doors, the same ones who couldn’t move one foot in the other were off for the front sun-beds. It was hilarious to watch from the balcony. There was a loyalty card club. The ones with a Gold card were quick to tell first time guests if they were Gold or Platinum. Ironside patrolled the pool smoking his vape even though there were signs all around the hotel saying no smoking. Staff told us that July and August were when the better months with a different clientele. We went to the beach €19.50 a day for two beds and a parasol. On the odd day we went walking on the morning, there were sun-beds around the pool mid afternoon. Plenty of lovely restaurants around . The Olive Garden was by far the best . Book to avoid being turned away. The English reception man with a beard was lovely. Took his time to explain the buses and tourist attractions.
