Blakewater Hotel is a small family run hotel, all bedrooms are newly refurbished, and are all en-suite, few minutes walk to the new bus station and round the corner from the train station. In walking distance to Blackburn town centre.
I was going to stay there with my significant other however we got to the outside of the hotel and there was a smell that you can only describe of as illegal substances. When we went inside, there was mould everywhere and the place looked a right mess. We quickly turned around and walked out. Keep away. Try the Devonshire hotel down the road, much cleaner.

Disgusting, I wouldn't even walk around the place in zoo keepers gumboots. The room reminded me of a squalid scene from a Dickensian novel. The only consulation is it's situated 2 minute's from the train station for a speedy exit.

Only stop here if there is no where else to stay. We paid £68 which was 60 to much. The only good thing I can say is it was cleanish. The curtains would not shut as was hanging off. The shower rail was held up by a wire there was a big hole in the wall the window sill had holes in it .the floor moved when walked on it . There was no bedside lamp . When we got there the landlord asked us if we would like to share with our friends in the family room. Didn't get offered breakfast

Tripadvisor need update their photos as they bear no resemblance to where we stayed.. Disgusting, dilapidated, dodgy both you and booking . Com should be ashamed at promoting this place.. on the plus side our bed n towels were clean... We weren’t offered a breakfast, wouldn’t have eaten there anyway, how the hell did they get 5 stars for hygiene?? Someone in the know needs to get the inspector back in.. I will never ever ever book a hotel again without looking at reviews!! Sorry not to be able to post photos I’d taken, but pressing the camera indicates I need to take a photo, sorry but we got out of there and had breakfast elsewhere. We will not return to this area again Darwen is much nicer..

Booked through booking.com paid extra to have free cancellation, unfortunately had to cancel 2 rooms 4 days before ! Went to cancel and their policy states 5 days before but gives you a request to waiver the fee , after numerous messages to booking .com and the property to which no reply my card was charged the £130 !!! Be careful!

Where do I start..... Dodgy looking from the outside, but that is only half the story! Single room was surprisingly clean(ish) compared to rest of the filthy hotel, that stinks of body of our and stale food etc. Smoke alarm with battery removed on top of wardrobe. Latch to closed window on windowsill hence no fire escape possible. Canvas picture on top of heater (Fire Hazzard) Uneaven flooring to the "en-suite". I had to pop out after I had arrived to visit a relative but on my return the room had been entered (items moved) I decided not to stay and rang the doorbell twice to obtain owners attention but no answer. The place is an absolute disgrace. Very noisy due to proximity to the rail station. I personally think that this place should be stripped of any association with any online booking sites. This place gives the wonderful town of Blackburn a bad name. Avoid at all costs. Don't believe me?..... Check out other reviews, or even better, check it out for yourself, go on, I dare you!!…

I was greeted by a man who, if he could have cared less would have been something of an achievement. In the lobby he asked for payment and told me that the room I had booked was tiny but he could upgrade me for an extra £6. He seemed to want payment in cash but I explained that I only had £10 in cash, so he said he would take the original sum by card and the extra in cash. He vaguely pointed up the stairs directing me to the room, I had to ask for the room number. He was on his way back to his room before I had put my foot on the first step. On reaching my room I found it be gloomy and there was a piece of plaster missing from behind the bed. The reason I was staying at the hotel is because I had a morning hospital appointment at the local hospital and I had travelled up from Worcester by train. I have friends who live 20 miles away so I decided to leave the keys in the hallway and made arrangements to go over to my friends and sleep on their floor. To describe this place as a hotel is laughable.…
