The hotel is staffed by a young and very helpful crew. Breakfasts are generous and excellent. Room we had was clean but ageing and not well. Matresses sagged more than a little and the internal lock on the door did not function - also one of the windows couldn't be closed properly. Lighting is all a bit odd and not...

We, too stayed here for the Gilbert and Sullivan weekend arranged by gsfestivals.org. What a fabulous venue! The beautiful house is set in vast grounds - not that we were able to explore them, it was pouring with rain! Our room, Coco, was at the top of the house accessed by some rather narrow stairs. It was very comfortable, well-appointed,...

We stayed at the Grims Dyke Hotel for 13 days. The hotel has lots of history and the gardens are beautiful but that does not make it a good or better hotel. What does I'd the accommodation and service. The hotel goes out of its way to service its guests often very individual needs and demands. Nothing is too much...

Spent weekend in the Sullivan suite for a G&S New Year celebration organised by Neil Smith of International Gilbert and Sullivan festival fame. Thoroughly enjoyable weekend of good food, good company and great entertainment. Watch out for upcoming G&S events. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The hotel used to be the private residence of W S Gilbert and is...

We stayed at Grim's Dyke as part of a Gilbert and Sullivan- themed weekend for the second year running. This time was even better than last with excellent food, attentive waiting staff (and plenty of them) and pleasant lounges to relax in, despite the awful weather. There is so much character in this hotel, the Music Room in particular boasting a...

I have stayed a few times mainly as it is hard to find hotels that take dogs. The grounds and surrounding areas are beautiful and great for either summer or winter walks. The actual hotel seriously needs some work doing. From a distance all looks lovely however on closer inspection the sofas are dirty as are the chairs etc, bedding...

This is an excellent hotel , full of character and atmosphere, but in need of a little love and care; a lick of paint, some replacement windows, new carpets in reception area, etc.. It is what it is, an old country residence turned into a hotel. Don't expect a new , state of the art , glitzy, all mod cons...

We spent several days in this hotel in December. It was cold outside and some rain, but the hotel was almost like "there's no place like home". The room was of a good size, and so was the bathroom. Breakfast was more than adequate, with waiter-service for hot dishes and for coffee and tea. Because of the nature of the...

Beautiful grounds with a nice long driveway in so it feels very private. Nice garden to walk. Reception staff was professional. Room was comfortable with double bed. Bathroom was small but functional. Wifi was good though spotty at times. Breakfast had good quality ingredients. Staff was professional.
