Montpelier and Monticello may get the most attention but this gorgeous 1859 home is absolutely stunning. There are few houses out there that I look at and think, "I would want to own that," as though it were a painting, sculpture, piece of art . . . Jack and Pat, the owners are wonderful, down-to-earth innkeepers and they know a...

We live in DC and wanted to take advantage of the many wineries nearby in Virginia, and to have a quite weekend by ourselves. It also happened to be the perfect time to get out of the snowed-in city. Our stay couldn't have been any better. We were in the Garden Room, which is downstairs and very private, being the...

After reading the fabulous reviews, we had high expectations, but Mayhurst Inn met or surpassed all of them. The Inn is beautiful and well-kept up. Our room (Southern Charm) had a double Jacuzzi in front of the working fireplace. Nice touches including robe and slippers, bottled water, chocolates, relaxing CDs, books and magazines added to our sense of being pampered....

We made it to the Mayhurst Inn immediately following our wedding ceremony despite the biggest snowstorm of the century. We had the Inn to ourselves and once in, did not want to leave, and not just because of the snow. Our hosts Pat and Jack were walking encyclopedias of the region's rich history. The inn reflects their passion for the...

My wife and I stayed at the Mayhurst Inn for our anniversary and her birthday (we were married on her birthday :). It more than lived up to the great reviews that others have posted. How neat is it to stay in a room that Stonewall Jackson had slept in?!? They have done a wonderful job of keeping the historical...

My wife, Cathy, and I stayed at the Mayhurst Inn in January 2010 (mayhurstinn.com) for our 20th anniversary and really enjoyed it. The Inn is a beautiful Civil War era plantation that has been restored by the Inn's gracious hosts, Pat and Jack. Our bedroom had plenty of room with its own private bath and fireplace. The Inn is located...

Lovely old home with hosts who are friendly but not intrusive. The room was a little cold but it was a record cold day and the bedroom and bathroom were huge and sparkling clean. One couple there was on their 4th stay We would definitely stay again

We stayed in the Italian Suite, which was sleekly styled in a combination of classical references and animal prints. Sounds strange, but it was beautiful and not at all the stereotypical "granny" style sometimes found in B and Bs. High on our list: the huge black whirlpool tub in its enormous bathroom (toilet facility is entirely separate) -- I call...

The Mayhurst Inn was recommended by friends, who said, "It's a great B&B, with an emphasis on the 2nd B." We think it's an even call between the Bs. The house, built in 1859, is magnificent. It is full of light. Its four floors are decorated in a warm and welcoming fashion. The cupola is open 24/7 and has beautiful...
