A hidden gem. We had a 5 night stay, from the time we arrived we were greeted with very helpful and friendly staff, Willem and his lovely staff Ation and Manu made our stay special,we started our stay in a studio room which was lovely but when we saw the cottages we decided to ask for an upgrade, this was...

Perfect mix of serenity, nature, amenities yet close to city. Have stayed here a number of times and definitely recommend the seperate cabins rather than the studios. Hosts are always very friendly and helpful.

We had a peaceful 2 night stay as part of our honeymoon in Air Cottage. Had nice touch of writing welcome on our bed in leaves/flowers and welcome drink. Cottage was spacious, self contained, nice amenities. It was very private and had nice patio overlooking lovely gardens, pigs and chooks in next garden, nice afternoons with birds singing and sunset....

Our host was very friendly and 100% helpful. Plenty of room in our private cottage with everything we needed. We had a bedpost bed- very romantic. Our "studio" was tiny and desparately needed refurbishment. It was musty and damp, the shower cubicle was very old and stained and there was a mosquito problem. The Avalon Resort needs some serious money in order to bring the accomodation up to the standard we found in the rest of beautiful New Zealand! Access was very poor especially in the...

A superb experience! Marvellous green space that renews the spirit. Very well appointed rooms, with every amenity thoughtfully provided. High-quality fittings and fixtures inside, luxurious accommodation. Lotus ponds, kayaking on the river, all within this property. Wonderul host - kind and helpful, but strictly respects your space and privacy. If you are in the Bay of Islands - Kerikeri, Paihia,...

What a joy to discover this little piece of heaven down a long track far away from the road and hidden in a valley with the sound of birds and cicadas to lull you to sleep. Our studio was being refurbished so we were upgraded to a cottage where chickens and ducks visited us each morning. Our own balcony and little...

Uniquie... The Plant life, ponds, spring water, and a great pool area, add cottages that have a tropical beachy feel. As a regular guest,,,,I can tell you there is only one negative regarding the Avalon. You have to leave at some stage.

We only stayed one night here but would have loved to stay longer. Beautiful surroundings and modern studio room with private terrace. Their natural pool is something that's very special. A bargain price too! Wonderful. They also have cottages there which looked lovely and huge gardens which you can roam around to your heart's content.

Very quiet, natural bush type setting. Close to everything. Property is large with cabins well spaced out. Lovely stream running into beautiful gardens and ponds. Lots of birds. Waterfalls nearby. Beautiful town plenty of small shops and local produce.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Avalon is a small boutique resort with self-contained serviced cottages and studio units, facing the golf course. Described as a little paradise and piece of heaven by many travellers, our 7 acre property features natural springs, waterfalls, lakes and river where you can kayaking. Our secluded valley has the feel of a nature retreat, but is close to shops, restaurants and various attractions in Kerikeri and the Bay of Islands. Set at the top of the valley, the stylish self contained cottages offer elevated views over the beautiful property. The deck, as well the large windows, allow one to be fully immersed in nature both inside and outside. With a king bed in the bedroom and 2 sofa-beds in the lounge, the unit can sleep up to 4 guests. The cosy self-contained studio rooms are located near the lush gardens around the Oasis pool complex. They sleep 2 or 3 guests and can be adjoined for families. Our studios all have an en-suite bathroom, a kitchenette and a private covered deck area. ... more   less
